  • Extra thick water-based poly topcoat for fast finishing.
If you need something for a fast, in-&-out, topcoat, this stuff is great for that.

So, I'm actually working with this stuff now! It's kind of scaring me. The label doesn't mention a tempature requirement for application, but I am in my below 50 degree garage and it's behaving a lot like an oil based poly in cold weather. Did you notice it goes on thick and takes a bit longer to soak in?

I just read the label and it states, "For best results....between 60°F and 90°F." So maybe 50° isn't the best. It does go on thick, that's one of its features. However, a topcoat really isn't supposed to soak in. It's supposed to sit on the surface. It has some "grip" but it doesn't soak in like a stain.

@@jeremynguyen2346 I would go to this link and scroll down to the "Find In Store" link. www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/varathane/varathane-triple-thick-polyurethane/

I just got the exact same thing (Varathane Triple Thick Polyurethane 3X) in clear MATTE :) Haven't tried it yet. I got a "beer caddy" at a thrift store that I removed the metal from and sanded down. I plan to use this poly on it but am questioning if I need to lie it down and do each surface horizontally, turning as each surface dries, or if I could do it standing. Due to the self-leveling, I'm afraid it will pool at the bottom, so thinking it should be done only horizontally, even though it's thick...?
