Tom, I always have the highest regard for your opinions. They are formulated from real world, hands on projects. Without your report I might have purchased the new can. Thank you.
I actually like the Varathane triple thick can to brush on instead of the spray. I didn’t like how regular polyurethane made my stain finish more yellow. this triple thick one is clear for my projects.
It really depends on the project. I used triple thick on some coffee table log legs and the turned a milky color. Had to sand and brush it off. Really depends on what you are doing. Thanks for the feedback.
Im so happy i saw this video. I just bought this yesterday. Taking it back this morning. 2 questions: 1. What water poly do you recommend for an exterior door that gets way too much sun? What is the stain color and brand of the first circle piece of wood. That color is gorgeous
1. You are supposed to use a finish with UV protection like a Marine varnish or Spar varnish. No matter what you use, too much Sun and heat will shorten the life of the finish. 2. The circle wood color is natural Mahogany. I believe I just put a sanding sealer on it.
great info. thank you for also not making us wait through a bunch of crap like the history of the company so you can get longer viewing time etc. very annoying. and why I subscribed to your channel. thank you!
Isn't it odd that all of our wives are the definitive source of information in each of our homes. One would think that there would be a few husbands in America who would hold this position, but it's just not so, is it?
G/Day, Tom from one of the armpits of the USA (Los Angeles). Thanks for this video. I bet that I would have been a sucker and bought a few cans of this junk if you had not done this test for us. Hey, have a happy Thanksgiving if I don't text you before the actual T/day. All the best, Ed.
Can I spray Poly on porous plastic doors in a school restroom? I need to seal the painted doors so the kids wont pick off the paint. Any suggestions are appreciated.
As long as the doors are not too smooth. If you can rub fine steel wool on the doors first without scratching it up, that would be better. Not certain, but I think it would work.
I know this is older video. Recently over the last couple months I’ve had nothing but problems with the spray cans. Semi gloss has had crystals in it and can clogs and the gloss won’t last half can. Anyone else have issues??

Thanks for that observation & thanks for subscribing! I always make my videos only as long as they need to be. :-)
I'm triple thick too (just ask my wife) but I don't think even I'd fall for that gimmick. Cheers Tom.

Sometimes I am triple thick in the head :-)

@@AlleyPicked Thanks, Buddy.
BTW: I'm interested to know if you are building any Christmas presents this year.
Thanks for the info.
Bad of Varathane putting out a scammy product.
But I use Varathane water based poly. Works well for me.
Whats the dry time between coats?

how about yelling at the little brats first! It's called being proactive
Oh parents today would looooove her for that. They sent those little brats to her in the first place.

I have that problem a lot with rustoleum spray cans.
