David Gilmour’s guitar somehow expresses the entirety of human emotions. It’s not just you. Nobody in the world can do what he does. I am a 49 year old guy and I cry every single time I hear that solo.
I am nearly 65 and it doesn't get better...
I'm 74 and still cry! Heck I've heard this song hundreds of times!
It gets me every time also, but don't tell anyone.
See, it just happened again.
Me too especially played at a funeral.someome I knew had suffered from cancer and it was kind of a comfort that he was "comfortably numb" at last.🙏
This Pulse performance is almost too much to take in. I’m 63 and it brings tears to my eyes. “When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse, out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone, I cannot put my finger on it now, the child is grown, the dream is gone.”
Some of the deepest lyrics ever written
same from me, I'm 62 soon, I heard PF sinse 49 years now
im 65 puts tears in my eyes@@thomrapp
62, here. My heart cries.
71 be Floyd fan for an eternity
This was the level of musical brilliance we grew up with in the 60s and 70s.
Never to be seen again I`m afraid, but that`s just my opinion 😜😜👍👍
We were the luckiest generation on this planet!
I always express to people how brilliant the 1970s were with film and music. Absolutely the best decade.❤
To be fair, even though I agree with you, this was exceptional even then =D
The Greatest generation of music.
Don't worry about showing your emotions to this song. I am a man of 73 years from the U.K. and I, like many more people, feel exactly as you do after listening to this. Keep watching and listening to Pink Floyd. May I suggest the live version of Sorrow, by them. A mind blower! A fine reaction!
I'm 72. I've seen this performance probably 50 times. I have never failed to tear up at some point. This can only be described as a Master Piece. Watch this entire concert, it will blow your mind.
Davids solo keeps building and building and have the backup of the Whole Band at the end! I can play pretty fast but I lack his slow notes with feel! I compare this solo with Claptons "Wonderful Tonite", so emotional with little effort!
turn off your computer and go outside
I bought the Pulse live video when I was 16 in 1996 after hearing the cd several times over. Still the most impactful music I`ve ever heard. Saw Roger Waters live in 2010, even without David Gilmour Comortably Numb had me in tears.
or... turn off your outside and engage with the art ...big smiley face @@drobichaud1000
I went to that concert it blew me away!! Can't believe I nearly never went 😮. Best thing ever!!!! ❤❤❤
First off, THANK YOU for not pausing during a David Gilmore solo, huge thank you ❤️
Your reaction was great and I felt your emotion 👍🏻🙏🏻
Joking... nice !
yep
Leo Fender created the Stratocaster. David Gilmore gave it a soul. I'm 69 years old. This version of Comfortably Numb, in my opinion, contains the greatest guitar solo ever by the greatest guitarist ever by the finest group of musical masters in all of rock and roll.
He's certainly up there. But, he's not the greatest ever. You are right about the greatest solo ever. David Gilmour is the most compeling guitarrist ever. When i heard Shine On You Crazy Diamond years ago i fell in love with Pink Floyd. David Gilmour is one of my favorites guitarrist ever and Comfortly Numb is my favorite song of Pink Floyd also.
Well said.
100% agree. This is the ultimate master piece of Rock'n'Roll. It just speaks to your soul on so many levels all at once. It can't really be described. You have to FEEL it. This is really what music is all about.
I am 77 and I totally agree I listen to this masterpiece several times a week and still tear up that solo speaks to my soul
It's funny, because as good as this is, I like the solo from Time even better. Just unbelievable how good they were at their peak.
I was at this very concert held at Earls Court in London.
If you think it was emotional watching it on a screen, imagine what it was like actually experiencing it live.
I was 45 at the time and I spent most of the concert with tears running down my face.
I was exhausted for 2 days after this.
A truly life changing experience that will never leave me.
Great reaction sweetheart.
✌️❤️🇬🇧
Me too. Awesome!
@@stevetomlinson3894 my missus nudged me during the great gig in the sky and pointed at the girl next to me who was so overcome with emotion that her legs had given way and I had to help her friend pick her up and put her back in her seat.
Never seen anything like it, and that's coming from someone who's been to a lot of concerts.
Be well my friend.
✌️❤️🇬🇧
Holy sh##!!! I was thinking it’s this good watching the video, which I have never seen, and it was so awesome and I wonder if anybody in the comments had actually been to this show!! that’s awesome and I’m glad you posted. Peace 💜
OMG you're right, I was there too and I saw lots of people crying (I might have seen you 😜).
Honestly one of the best nights of my life....
I saw it in Indianapolis. I was on a natural high for DAYS!! and couldn't stop smiling!!
One thing no prior generation has EVER said: "Seniors have an awesome taste in music". Maybe there's hope for the world yet!
If only more younger generations would listen to Pink Floyd, they truly don’t know what they’re missing
Agree.
Love this comment. 70 years old here.
Welcome to world of Pink Floyd. This band reaches out to your soul and emotions with their music, lights, and lyrics. No other band comes close!! And note Comfortably Numb was the 21st song of the concert and was followed by "Run Like Hell" which has a completely different vibe!
No honey, it doesn't sound crazy - it sounds like you heard it exactly how it was intended ❤
Kids use the word "crazy" for everything, these days.
She probably wanted to say it sounds amazing, wonderful, fantastic, breathtaking or such, but they always just say "crazy".
😅 we can't help it
Dave Gilmour's guitar playing is hypnotic. It's good to see your emotional reaction to Floyd we in the older generation experienced it way back in our youth. Listen to shine on You Crazy Diamond when you get the chance. Thanks for playing it, and giving the respect of not commenting until the end. x
It doesn't matter how many times I hear these two solos from this live performance -- tears stream down my face every time. Dave Gilmour's playing stirs the deepest emotions.
I avoid watching the pulse live version because it literally gets me weeping and I can’t stop 😅
As a 75 yr. old I get so much enjoyment from watching young people grasp the music of a different generation. Some music survives the passage of time and inspires the feeling of an age gone by.
Agreed mate.
I saw this live in 87' . Unforgettable experience.
R.I.P. Rick Wright. Genius keyboardist/songwriter/backing vocalist. R.I.P. Syd Barrett. Genius singer/songwriter/guitarist.
Roger Waters (genius songwriter, bass and vocals) and Nick Mason (genius songwriter/drums/percussion/backing vocals).
God Bless them all.... David Gilmour's wonderful voice and impeccable guitar playing in this song is total fire.
If you don't get emotional and melancholy with this you are dead. Most of us get comfortably numb at a certain point.
One of the most emotional solos ever performed
That solo tears me up every time. 😢
The band is named in homage to two old black blues musicians from North Carolina, PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council. One of the bands founding members fell in love with their raw, bluesy sound and talked the other members into naming their band: "The Pink Floyd Sound", later shortening it to just Pink Floyd and they became legends! The cerebral band of rock!
I have seen people reduced to tears even when hearing the studio version, this music has touched so many.
Best concert EVER i’ve been lucky enough to attend twice!! David plays and feels like from another dimension, just wow.
The second guitar solo is probably the greatest of all time
A song called Comfortably Numb that EVERYBODY feels SO much emotion to on hearing - what genius
He releases his soul into his guitar
I know exactly what you mean when you say the guitar was singing. David Gilmour's playing is highly emotional and really takes you on an inner journey. I'm not sure there are words to describe how Pink Floyd makes most of us feel, but we Pink Floyd lovers understand you. I hope you keep listening to their music. It's a genre all it's own and it's timeless. Try the songs *Time* and *Hey You.* Also, their long songs are some of their best. Don't let the length of some of them keep you from checking them out. Happy listening.
Greatest guitar solo ever!
No one expresses humanity via guitar like Gilmour
Utmost respect for you, letting the song play and reserving your comments until the end
It's not just you love, I've listened to this song for decades and it still makes me tear up. It's just a measure of how insanely talented David Gilmour is.
It's like a yearning. Beautiful every time.
It's good to see young peaple enjoying shit we oldies loved!
Welcome to the world of Pink Floyd. It makes me so happy when someone so young understands the power of music.,
We Floydians' completely understand . I have been listening to them and this song for over 40 years and it hits me different each time . Welcome to The Pink Floyd experience
I enjoyed them in the late 1960's and was in the 18,000 crowd @ Earls Court in West London when they debuted DSON in 1973 but where have the last 50 years gone?:)
@@Isleofskye I ask myself that quite often my friend. Only the other day I bumped into a Girl Who lived by me. The last time I saw her I was about 13 Now I am in my mid 60s. What happened to time? We had a good old wander down memory lane, but Times have changed 🙏🙏
@@stephensmith4480 Tempus Fugit,My Friend:)
Saw the Dark Side of the Moon in concert. They are an experience!
It’s beautiful to see the younger generation appreciate the emotion this man puts into his playing. I have to leave the room every time I hear it. Brings me to tears every time. I also appreciate that you listened all the way through without interruption to get the whole experience.
Welcome aboard young Lady. To the S.S. PINK FLOYD
I bought the album The Wall when it first came out. This is still one of my favorite. This live version David’s solo is longer. A true classic!
A massive shout out to the backing vocals 😍Awesome 🏴
I am 53 i went to see these when i was 24 i didnt think i was that into them. Omg i cried all the way through it. 1994 that is the one i went to. Coming back to life makes me cry to this day. Magicians ❤❤❤
Beautiful reaction. I'm 51 and have been listening to Pink Floyd since grade school. I still feel like you every time I hear this song and I've heard it literally thousands of times.
I think the natural reaction is to cry this song just brings that out ❤
Girl, you got soul...
and the Floyd reached in and just touched it.
Perfect !
If you want to see two musicians have a conversation without words, check out the final "Echoes" performance with Richard Wright & David Gilmour (original members of Pink Floyd) from 2006, shortly before Richard passed away. As already suggested, watch the version from their 1972 concert Live at Pompeii, but then check out the 2006 concert version. It is, at the same time, an amazing performance and an amazingly bittersweet moment we get to witness between two old friends--almost as they're reflecting upon their years together. Same song, but different vibe 44 years later. I can not watch it without at least a few tears.
um, small correction. David Gilmour is not an original member. He was brought in after Syd, sadly, started acting and playing erratically. due to his over use of psychedelics like LSD. One dares to think what the band would have been like if Syd's genius had not turned into madness. :(
@@jenniferclick1238ah small correction the name of the band was changed when Sid left from "The Pink Floyd" to just Pink Floyd so he was an Original member splitting hairs but....
@@mteifke they were actually called The Pink Floyd Sound.
@@jenniferclick1238 and sigma 7 and The Tea set and Architects Abdab, But as far as I'm concerned when Syd left It became a completely different band
This version touched me more than any other and I heard myself saying “maybe there is a heaven…” -meaningful because I’m not religious and I’m a baby boomer as well, so I’m quite old. I’m so touched and pleased, Vivian, by your sweet intro, and your reaction put me in tears as well. Live long and prosper, beautiful child.
This piece of art leaves a mark on everyone who listens to it. The most important band of all time. They were so forward thinking with their music and the performance
It's really beautiful to see how you were able to feel and allow the effect, energy and feelings behind this song without pausing it. 🙏
I grew up in S/Africa and never got the opportunity of watching these incredible musicians perform live. Floyd will live forever.
BTW, I'm 59 yrs old.
I was 1 of the lucky ones to be at this concert in Earls Court in London October 1994 The Pulse Tour Concerts and nearly 30years later it still sends shivers down my head and spine watching, listening and remembering the awesome night..!! But not just the song your reacting to Comfortably Numb (The Greatest Song of All Time) but the whole Pulse Concert from start to finish each song as the whole concert was filmed live could be a movie on its own from Musically and Visually the lights, lasers, pyrotechnics, explosions and visual effects are truly MIND-BLOWING
Baby girl. That exactly how you were supposed to react !!!!!❤
That guitar is being played by David Gilmour one of the five greatest guitarists ever to walk this planet!! Watch just about any song from this 1994 Pulse concert and it will be at least equivalent to almost any other bands Grand finale!! That wasn't even their last song for this concert!
You should listen to some of their studio albums which are just as entertaining as a video because Pink Floyd paints a picture and a story in your mind with almost every one of their songs! If you'd like to see them when they were your age try their Pink Floyd 1971 "Echoes live from Pompeii" where they play in an ancient Roman amphitheatre over 2000 years old with no audience!
Or try Us and Them from their 1973 Dark Side of the Moon album! One last thing about Pink Floyd try to use headphones or earbuds because their sound production is second-to-none!!!
You just fell into a bottomless rabbit-hole known as Pink Floyd! Enjoyed your reaction very much and I think you will be very surprised at their music!!
If you dont mind, let me guess your best guitarist list..in no particular order. Gilmour, Hendrix, Robin Trower, Page, Iommi....maybe Beck
Brian May, David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, EVH, Hendrix
Gilmour, Gary Moore, SRV, Rory Gallagher and Jimmy Page.
I'll go with Gilmour, Robin Trower, Steve Howe, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, @@Isleofskye
@@glennbrock6560 Impressive Glenn and I would recommend listening to 2 Live performances by Gary Moore:
1/ "Still Got The Blues For You-LIVE IN PARIS"
2/ " Parisienne Walkways=LIVE@ MONTREUX"
Please tell me what you think. They are both on You Tube,
You are right sweetheart, it reaches your soul and it is timeless.
Glad to see kids still enjoying music. We always knew it was, and still is, the best music ever.
One of the top five guitarists of all time! Simply AWESOME!
Pure masterpiece every time I hear this it touches my soul! Brilliant great reaction
Your reacti9n is what this performance deserved. Respect to you young lady 🙏
I’m a very very old metal rock head, have seen Pink Floyd 3 times live. To me they have no bad songs. You don’t listen to Pink Floyd you experience them. Sorrow Pulse concert is another experience, Learning to Fly, Keep Talking or Wish Yo We’re Here live of curse is a great start. Good luck on your journey of discovering Pink Floyd! Rock On Stay Safe!🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I am a life long Floyd fan I am 68 been to 3 live concerts and get emotional over their music to this day
@@John-fv8sc I am slightly older than you brother, but I agree 100%, with you, Pink Floyd reaches to your soul. God Bless and Rock On, Stay Safe!🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Pink Floyd is more than music. It's an experience. Listen to Great Gig In The Sky. It will definitely touch your soul.
I was at the Chantilly Hippodrome near Paris in 1994 for their PULSE tour, and it's the most fabulous light show I've seen in my life, along with that of Genesis in 1977 and Queen in 1984. Three unforgettable concerts that give me chills just thinking about them. As for the sound, it was simply monstrous ! The loudest I've ever heard in concert with the WHO in 1978, ZZ Top in 1986 and Mötley Crüe in 2011...
I was 25 yrs old in 1979 when this was released. It brings so many memories back. awesome classic.
Bought this album '79 , it still gives me goosebumps . Its a musical novel . Listen to the story folks . . Proably the greatest album.ever . X
I'm 71 years old I play this at least every week I've seen PF live lots of times listen to another great song by them Us and Them you'll cry at that one
Pink Floyd is not listened, to it is felt, it absorbed its sanctuary and its divine. David Gilmour generates emotions with his guitar that few if any other musicians can. To see your tears is exactly what we all feel,. The music is from another dimension that cuts through all the BS and enters the soul. I have been listening watching and attending PF concerts for over 40 years and I am still blown away, have tears and feel goosebumps. You are not alone, we all feel it. Welcome to the music of Floyd.
Welcome to the pink Floyd experience, I'm 54 years old and I've been listening to them for many decades, pink Floyd is an experience, cuz no one can touch them
I’m 66 and I was at that performance and I still get shivers!
It doesn’t matter how many times I hear this song I still get goosebumps. I remember buying the CD and the case having a red LED light on the edge that lit up to the beat of a normal heartbeat. Simply stunning and it makes me so happy when other people realise how good music can actually be.
i worked at the electronics company that supplied those LEDS, had no idea who they were at the time i hate to admit lol!!!!
I love pinkfloyd allthere music.....
Saw this 5 times . Your reaction reminds after leaving those concerts the crowd was how quite people were as to what they just experience. This was their last concert which was sold out 14 days in a row
Im so envious of all yhose who witnessed! Its like they arrived from another farway planet, gave this gift, and left, saying Go forth Humans, and Love!
The lyrics “the child is gone, the dream is gone” always makes me look deep in to myself.
David Gilmore’s solo at the end is probably the best live recorded guitar solo in concert history.
He manages to tap into the guitar and lets the guitar create its own kind of lyrics.
I actually went to The Pulse concert when it was in Sydney and I’ve been to countless concerts over the decades but the Pulse concert will always be the best concert I’ve ever been to. From start to finish which included the entire album Dark Side of the Moon played live and in order was just pure perfection.
If you want to listen to more pink floyd songs and albums, listen to from start to finish The Dark Side of the moon album. It can only be listened to from start to finish because the entire album is like one long song and covers everything from life, death, grief and grieving, time and our perception of time as we get older, money and how it turns to greed and strips your soul away. I could keep on going.
Another few albums that are just as great and worth listening to is The Wall, Animals, Wish you were here, and there’s another must see song that was turned into a concept music video is Echoes, Live in Pompeii. That was filmed in 1971 I think but the song was recorded and filmed at an ancient Roman arena in Pompeii with no one but just the band, sound engineers and the film crew.
It gave me the sense that they were not only playing to the ghosts of Ancient Rome, but also to their gods.
THIS....... Is when you know music hits the soul...😊
There were times in my life, that I just didn't want to feel. This song took me there. Tears did come in waves. Thank God I was lifted from that period.
Agree with your reaction … the guitar solo makes me cry every time - extraordinary
David Gilmour is a f##king surgeon! He uses his instrument to reach inside your chest and gives your heart a gentle squeeze!
I love when the young experience Pink Floyd.
Well done darling girl, you got it, you felt the music as it was meant to be, not just heard, but felt in the soul, Welcome to Pink Floyd❤
The performance of this song live in Pompeii italy is amazing. You should watch that one. Playing in an old Italian outdoor stadium is amazing
Pink Floyd has many songs that have this transcendent quality. Have a nice journey.
These first time viewing and reactions to this song just goes to show how good this solo and song really is,in my opinion the best solo of all time ..
I loved your reaction!! ❤❤ It's a perfect reaction to this iconic performance.
I was there in '94. By far the best live performance ever!!!
One of the best reactions I have seen for this song. I feel on live songs they shouldn't be interrupted because you don't get to stop a live show and it detracts from the feel of being there. I did see this tour, best concert I've ever been to, and I've been to many. Check out the entire show.
Pausing during the song breaks the rhythm, flow, contunuity and momentum of the tune..
My abiding memory of this song is from 1985 as an apprentice driving 2 hours at night from my home to my work place in my beater with this on full blast. I wore my cassette of the wall out listening to the entire album over and over.
When they zoomed in on the keyboard player, it was like he was looking at you and thinking, "I knew we could make you cry" 😊❤. Pink Floyd's the best.❤❤I recommend the entire album "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wall" and everything else they have ever done. ❤️
Nostalgic sensation, first time here! Two things I am VERY happy about when it comes to reactors: you did NOT stop this performance so that is HUGE! Second, you shed some real tears and, yes, David Gilmour's guitar will step right into your heart & soul so you feel what he feels thru his guitar..........and take you on a powerful, serene, tranquil journey into musical bliss, absolutely incredible, intense power and emotions here! I have something equal to this: please react to Lucy Thomas' version of "Hallelujah".......and be prepared for your 'religious' experience, LOL! Blown away will be an understatement......best version of this on the Planet
Been a Floyd fan for a long time, till this day I still weep
Ma'am...My children come from your generation. I was blown away by your visceral reaction . TY.
It's a journey to another dimension.
Absolutely ✨
I always find this track very emotional. 14 years ago I went to a gig on the Isle of Man where a band played a superb cover version of this. I was with a very good friend, who tragically lost his life 3 days later in his first race on the Mountain Course. Every time I hear it now it takes me back to that time.
So much said with no words, I cry when I hear this. I was at the Dallas TX concert in 94 and I'll die with the memories of that night.
March 1973 dark Side Of The Moon came out. I was 15 and rode my bike down to the record store and bought the album. It came with a couple posters and stickers. I went to my buddy's place and we played it on his dad's stereo and rattled the windows. We went up on the roof later and kicked back watching the clouds and such. Great album and I still have it along with a CD of it. Those were fine times with probably the best music ever written from bands that will stand the test of time. David Gilmore's solos are arguably the best to ever be recorded.
Life long Floyd fan. I was at that tour that year. My friend who went with me cried during that solo. It's very rare that you get to relive the greatest moment in your life ever over and over just by watching the video. I am truly blessed.
I saw this tour in Washington DC, best concert I ever saw.
Saw this concert at the Pontiac Stadium just outside of Detroit and everybody's faces around me myself included everybody's face was covered in tears.
First heard “CN” on the radio and was mesmerized and thrilled. Awesome lyrics, perfectly complemented voices…2 incredible guitar solos!
Beautiful soul❤ timeless music
A wizard he is and yes I rarely watch this without crying
Ahhhh, music that evokes emotions. So good.
Greetings from Canada, Good job, you. Well done. Peace, love and bellbottoms.
I have been a fan for 50 years and everyone feels the same about Gilmours' guitar and his ability to speak or sing thru his instrument
It's just incredible what this language of the soul we call music can do to us!.
No rock band I have seen live indoors has come close to the sound experience of Pink Floyd. Outdoors experience is a very different experience, but the sound indoors is just a wall of sound and you really feel the emotion.
I remember watching Pink Floyd's Pulse live show DVD with my dad. I've never seen him so moved by music. He was surrounded by speakers, head back, eyes closed and absolutely indulging in the sensory experience. It's worth a watch if you haven't seen it.
Listen to the entire album of The Wall... it's an experience everyone should have. We all tear up to this song. It's mind blowing.
the guitar speaks you like it has a life it builds you up till the end
