Never, ever, never, ever apologize for crying over a David Gilmour solo. How many oceans could be filled with the collective tears from those of us who have been crying for 45 years?
David Gilmour looks like he has gone for a walk to the corner shop to buy a newspaper, but he then plays the greatest live guitar solo ever. Pure genius, voice of an angel, what a musical legend.
It does my old heart good to see young people enjoying the music of my generation. Because one doesn't merely listen to Pink Floyd. One EXPERIENCES Pink Floyd. Welcome aboard.
Yours is the gold standard of music reactions. Honest emotion from someone who feels music rather than just another intellectual analysis. Don't ever apologise for showing your emotions. I'm nearly seventy and this song still brings tears to my eyes after dozens of times viewing it. Bravo to you!
There are no right or wrong reactions, there are are only reactions. Everyone from squirrels to dogs to rats to giraffe to rhinos to sheep and humans react to new information, it's instinctual, it's survival. Imagine if we DIDN'T react to a potential predator lurking around, trying to eat you for dinner, that'd be the end of our specie real fast.
75 and this is indeed a very emotionally stirring rendition. No words during the solo but the message reaches down into your soul as if speaking to you personally.
You don't have to apologize for letting your emotions out with Pink Floyd. Even though I saw this show two nights in a row, and I have seen this video hundreds of times, I still get goosebumps every time I watch it. This is what happens when lyrics are much more than just a series of words meant to rhyme. And that music is much more than a simple series of notes and chords intended only to become the "hit" of the present moment.
When you know that the song's lyrics are about Roger Waters' day of back pain and medical treatment, it seems rather trite. But each person has their own pains and reliefs and can let words affect them in the most personal way. But Gilmour's voice is beautiful and his guitar solo is the most beautiful of all time. Avoiding tears is a task with minimal chances of success.
This particular performance of Comfortably Numb is so magical and powerful that it breaks down every division, every barrier, every cultural or personal wall that anyone could put up! David Gilmour's long solo here is beyond perfection! This will never be equaled, never surpassed! Your reaction was as pure as it was beautiful! :)
@@JK-uw1jy This is from the Pulse tour, 1994. I believe this was Earl Court, London. You can search for and find the entire show or just various songs from it.
What was really cool about that moment with the giant disco ball… that thing came out of nowhere. It’s not like it was just hanging there the entire concert, waiting for this moment. It surprised the hell out of everyone when the lights hit it! Pure magic.
Omg...I cried, the guitar solo connected to my soul, (I swear) how is this not on the radio? Nobody in this generation can compare to this unbelievable song, period. I'm going to find their album tomorrow. ❤😢❤
I'm 72 years old living in Mountain Home Arkansas. I've heard this at least 50 times and I'm sitting here with tears running down my cheeks. There are no words. Pure magic
I'm 72 and saw Pink Floyd do their kick off tour in 1972 of Dark Side of the Moon in Toronto Canada That was also an unbelievable emotional experience 😅
It's so cool to hear that you love this as much as I do. I'm 53 and love this song as much as I did when I was 9. My best friend and I would play air guitar, sing , and act through the whole album.
@busher69 65 years have got behind me now - 42 years since I first heard this song played on the radio one evening while driving near Riverside California. When the first couple notes of the first guitar solo started, I instantly recognized the man behind it as the one and only David Gilmour, Grand-Master of the instrument. When the second guitar solo began, I had to quickly pull over into a large grocery store parking lot and park the car so I could finish listening without the distraction of driving, so great was the emotional impact on me hearing it for the very first time. I literally had goosebumps en masse as the power of that 2nd Gilmour guitar solo FILLED me, washing over, around, and THRU me! I’d had other music stir my soul and move me deeply before, but that first time hearing Gilmour’s guitarwork in Comfortably Numb was something else indeed! It was a depth of feeling and emotion beyond anything I’d ever experienced with music before! 42 years later and that memory is just as clear to me as if it happened yesterday. I’ll never forget it. David had me as a fan for life at that point. Since Comfortably Numb, so many other deeply emotion-evoking guitar solos have come out of David and thru his guitars like liquid feeling, each a MASTERPIECE of moving musical artistry. The guitarwork that begins when his vocals stop in Pink Floyd’s “SORROW” from their “Momentary Lapse Of Reason” album … The guitar interplay with Wright’s keyboard in “CLUSTER ONE” from “The Division Bell” album … his guitarwork on the last half of their song “ON THE TURNING AWAY” from “AMLOR” … his SOARING guitar composition that is the last half of the song “A GREAT DAY FOR FREEDOM” … his guitarwork in “WEARING THE INSIDE OUT” and “COMING BACK TO LIFE” … and that MASTERPIECE of emotion-evoking Gilmour guitarwork in “MAROONED” will take you out of this world! Then there’s his guitarworks on his album “Rattle That Lock”: “FACES OF STONE”, “IN ANY TONGUE”, and the opening and closing tracks, “5 A.M.” & “AND THEN…”. The guitar composition in those latter two run deeply thru my heart & soul. By the way, I’m 90 miles south of you here in Arkansas. We’re practically neighbors :-)
Welcome to our world, you will never be the same again. 😇 You are warmly invited to try ANYTHING from the Pulse concerts, you will be bathed in awe and wonder. So many thanks to you for experiencing this true work of art. ❤😊😁💐💐🌹🌹
I have gotten so much joy from seeing the young kids listen to Pink Floyd. The beginning and end of everything for us as kids in the 70s and 80s. We were privileged to have Floyd every day in our lives.
Never apologize for having an honest reaction to music. There is a power to this music and if you let it, it will take you on a journey that will touch your soul.
That HAD to be one of the greatest live performances of all time. One of the greatest songs from one of the greatest bands. There will never be another Pink Floyd. Well done young lady.
I saw this show in New Orleans, last tour for Pink Floyd, many people came together but never spoke, your reaction is real. Welcome home to a great club!
I saw him live in 1984 and it blew me away! The emotion hits you because you can feel it in David’s guitar mastery, it’s like it’s every single deep experience you’ve ever had all rolled up in his guitar solo, added is his incredible soft yet powerful voice! It’s been 40 years since I saw him live, seems like yesterday when I hear it again, thank you for sharing this highly emotional song💯🎸🙏🥰❤️

I’ve watched many of the Comfortably Numb reaction videos and yours is my favorite because I respond in exactly the same way. This performance is so emotionally gripping. It’s overwhelming and in the best possible way.
This was in the encore for the concert. The next number, Run Like Hell is an exercise in how to finish a rock gig. Prior to the encore the second half of Pulse is a live version of their multi-million selling masterpiece album, Dark Side of the Moon for the first (and last) time in years. However, you should listen first to the studio version, preferably for yourself in one go rather than try for reaction videos, track by track. Floyd make albums as art, each on a theme with tracks melting into each other in a series of wonderful transitions which is why its best to do the whole album in one listen to get the full experience which is pretty mind blowing. The DSOTM is widely regarded as perhaps the best rock album recorded and its impact at the time -1973- was nothing short of nuclear. So find a spare 45 minutes, listen to it all the way through, maybe with the lights down...burning incense optional😊. Its a truly mind boggling ride.
First time I saw Floyd was the Dark Side of the Moon tour. They just had regular stage lights. Following tours kept getting better and better. I feel so fortunate to have experienced so many great concerts as a kid. And, back then they were all under $10.
