You got one! Awesome! I was worried some larger debris was going to collide with you and your anchor line. That water seemed to be moving! Stay safe and healthy!
Thanks for the video Adam. I always look forward to your postings. I appreciate anyone who fishes for a variety of species and you certainly cover a number of them.
Hey Adam good to see you out there and for a different species of fish. I find it very funny every time you're messing with your phone you end up hooking up 😆. Anyways stay safe out there and have a blessed day. Aloha from Kansas
Nice video Adam. Sturgeons are bottom feeders so what I like to do is add 1/4 oz bullet weight to the leader, this holds the bait near the bottom. This would increase your percentage of hooking up with a dino. Tight lines
We use very thin copper wire to hold on shrimp then it will last longer on the hook. Awesome video and great info. A lot of times they like to lay just below the ledge of a drop off. Then again I have never fish where you are. We fish the Columbia river and the Willamette river. My biggest is 15ft.
biggest sturgeon i got was 10'10 on the Fraiser river. whats the plan for when you hook a big one... was there a quick release and float/buoy on end of anchor line? wonder are sturgeon feeding more at slack tide?
Good info ! Thanks for also showing us how rig for a particular fish ! A lot of channels neglect such info . The weight on your line must be a pound ? I never saw such a heavy weight ! Take care from Florida!
To catch one of the monsters that we don't have in the east, awesome. Get em Adam. I'll not pump the same kayak we both use, it's your channel. If I were a sturgeon, I'd ride with the tide.
@@DieHardFishing For sure! Made for a great video 😄 I've been fishing Pigeon Point before the season ended and I know a guy who caught a 24 pound Lingcod off the kayak if you would ever want to do a video up there
Het Adam, Look up a cheater weight rig it works well fishing for sturgeon. Basically run the Delta slider rig and then add a Egg weight that slide 18inches to 30 inches. this cheater weight keeps the bait from hoping of the bottom and you will get a lot more strikes. A rod level also works great to detect the often soft bites.
we used to do a lot of windsurfing on the north side of Sherman island and once and a while we see a dead sturgeon washed up 5-6 '. there is a bar on a slough going to Rio Vista that has a mounted sturgeon on the wall about 8 ' long and don't tie up to any channel markers, those poles sticking up in the water, cost me over $500.00, thanks for the vid
You need to set up an anchor trolley of some sort those rivers get lot a debri and you need a way to release that anchor line verry quikly if a big stick or log or even large pacth of weeds gets caught on your anchor line it will drag your kayak under in seconds i nearly sunk a 15ft aluminum boat in that scenario
You might like this little sturgeon I caught using a Barbie rod, didn't have to deal with current. Hooked a nine footer the following week (not on the Barbie rod!). th-cam.com/video/C9IsvmkknGA/w-d-xo.html
The water is moving slower near the shore and near the bottom. The fish are energy conservation experts. They will go with the current when they cannot get out it near the bottom or in eddies or back waters. They are streamlined so that the water can't get a grip on them when they sit on the bottom. The food is on the bottom also.
Dude, wanna know what's crazy? Ive seen a sturgeon hooked at Stevens Creek Reservoir like 3 times, and saw someone land it on FIshbrain last year, super inland and in the mountains, and there's a 5 foot sturgeon there!
young man, do not hunt sturgeon in a kayak, you have no idea of the power of this fish. Your life is on the line in a kayak. I would not put this fish in a 17 ft boat. A legal fish you need to snare its tail up out of the water to take a way its power.
If you sit out there with that small bait you’ll catch shakers all day long but you won’t catch any of the big stuff. If you want big fish you gotta have big bait. Herring, smelt👍🏼
Good stuff, Adam! That anchor of yours could hold the Queen Mary.
Definitely was not going to drag that anchor as long as he was not straight up and down!
lol
You got one! Awesome! I was worried some larger debris was going to collide with you and your anchor line. That water seemed to be moving! Stay safe and healthy!
Yeah it was strong!
Thanks for the video Adam. I always look forward to your postings. I appreciate anyone who fishes for a variety of species and you certainly cover a number of them.
That current is moving! Makes me nervous just watching ya. 😆
Yeah, I fish about 10 upstream from there. The ripping tide makes me nervous. But I am an amateur

Might happen again soon...lol

@@DieHardFishing no problem Adam. I've learned quite a bit from your channel in the past few years
that current was ripping! no wonder you had to bring out the actual anchor
Yeah had to bust out the big boy anchor! haha

I've been looking forward to a new Die Hard video all week! I hope to see you out there again this season 🎣🎣
Hope to see you too!
I still remember the time you helped me find that rod in the surf! Thanks again bro!

That fast tide there looks dangerous, have you heard about submerged trees getting caught on anchor lines and pulling boats underwater? Good luck!
Thanks for sharing from Minnesota!
You bet!

appreciate the money saving tip!
The speed of that current was surprisingly fast when you anchored. Nice job!
Yes it was!

Fish On!!!! 😃👍🏼

Dang thats crazy!
They ride the current. They’ll go down with the outgo and they’ll move up on the incoming. They can cover a lot of water in a day!
Good to know!
You have the location and your special setup, you will get a keeper Sturgeon next time!
I hope so!
Best Stugeon bait. Salmon roe, lamprey eel .
Was out there last Friday all stripers
next time!
my understanding is that they feed with the current.
Thats what I was thinking too!
Love the content. Keep up the amazing work.
Thanks, will do!
Try Herring with Dacron lead line next time, that what Delta people told for catching big sturgeon.
Thanks for the tip!
Better off just reeling into the bite as opposed to taking a big swing to set the hook with sturgeon. Good luck and tight lines bruh!
I still have that on my bucket list
Pittsburg Pge is a good spot
They're coming down with the tide bro. They follow the flow of the tide but ur right They're nose up into the current..
Thats what I figured
i've seen fisherman use many different bait combos.
Adam you caught a 200,000,000 year old sturgeon? 😱
almost...
What does ghost shrimp mean? It means you're getting serious. Watch out stugeon
Be sure to record cnr dinos as well on your report card
Will do!

how is somthing considered a strange species when it's been around that long! wth?
Because there is nothing else like it in our area
@@DieHardFishing So does that make everything outside of our area a strange species?
Very dangerous place to be in a kayak one tree one log an you are done be carefull bud ..
Appreciate the concern!
You need VERY LARGE HOOK and VERY LARGE BAIT/ LARGE ROTTEN CHICKEN DRUM STICK. BIGGER THE BAIT, YOU WILL CATCH BIGGER FISH ?????
thanks for the tip!
Use Dacron for a leader....more supple and since you can use 80-100 pound, should handle the nicking from Scutes.
Thanks for the tip!
You got 1… just can’t get excited about sturgeon fishing tho. Not my thing … 😕.
yeah its a different style for sure. more like sitting and waiting haha
