Wow the angles and leverage are totally different fighting a sturgeon seated in a kayak. That looks a lot tougher than standing in a boat or from shore!
@15:04, Nice shot of scoots (sp?) on top and sides of fish! I have seen more than a few Dino fish caught on video, and a few mention scoots are sharp. But, view you provided clearly shows how chainsaw chain like scoots are! Tyler, are there any known preditor of a Sturgoen? One would think so, why else have so many rows of sharp, hook tip like defensive objects attached to the skin? At one point there was a person off your right shoulder, and behind you, that was fishing from a single man pontoon boat, would you feel stable roping one of those Dino's while fishing from one?
Their primary predator is Stellar's Sea Lions. California Sea Lions eat a few as well. There was another kayak angler out there. I would not recommend any inflatable as the scutes shred the material pretty quickly.
Hey I think I may ran into you sturgeon fishing many years ago next to Oaks Park just below the Sellwood bridge. We were in a red and black drift boat and I gave you or someone else in a kayak some circle hooks to try out. Was this you by chance?
Just a thought. Try adding montages to your videos. I noticed the music this time and it was awsome. Iv noticed other popular fishing channels use small montages and music. Nailed the music part.
Its an Avet 2 speed. I love the setup. Lower gear ratio = higher torque which means I get them off the bottom and to the kayak quicker. A longer rod has a more sensitive tip = better bite detection & more leverage = more fish for me. Just my opinion.
Pretty awesome dinosaur fishing video LOL!!
Getting closer to 20,000 subscribers (Feb 2022), well deserved Tyler! Awesome content as always

Good to see they're up there now I want to take my kids there this year
When you see bubbles, that means their done! Well done!
Wow I’m going to make a trip to Portland for this! Greetings from Bham Wa!
I missed you by a week! I was out there on the 25th. I will run into you somewhere one of these days.
I see you have your controller on the left side. I can tell it’s on a ram mount but what is holding the controller? Thank you. Great videos
The remote has a standard thread mount that I put a threaded ram ball on.
Way to go! Love the videos keep them up 👍🏻
Oh man. I've seen you a few times out there. I really like your setup.

We were just there two days ago!
great stuff.
Nice dude. 🐟on
Come to st Helen's at the tip of Willamette slew. Oversizers for days
Yes the slough in general is good. A little less kayak friendly than Swan Island
Debating making a trip up there sometime soon.
What do you use for bait? Is early May too late in the season?
Squid or herring both work and early May can still be good especially in cold water years like this year
Where is this in Portland? I guessing north Portland maybe.

No not me
That's a good spot I was just there a few days ago.

Almost all my videos have montages with music
@@spiltmilt I don’t really know how to explain it. Like the montages with the glitchyness. I don’t know. I can’t explain it
How do you rig the bait for sturgeon
Typically use half hitches on herring. For the squid I just thread it on a few times through the hook
What kayak is that? Interested in getting one
Old Town AutoPilot 120
What rod are you using?
Shimano Technium Sturgeon Rod
Where is this at? If you don’t mind me asking
Swan Island Basin, Portland, Oregon
@@spiltmilt thank you, will give it a try on a pontoon boat.
Is there any bank access that is decent? Dont have a kayak unfortunately 😑
No not in this location
@@spiltmilt thank you man well I guess I need to get a kayak anyways so now there is incentive, I appreciate it bud💪🏽🤙🏼
I caught some monsters in Jurassic Park!
@11:04 huge blow-up in the background, what was that I wonder?
Sturgeon rolling
Hi, is that avet a jx or.mxj? Thanks.
Avet HXJ 5/2
You can fish with me anytime. Come on up to Alaska.
Something rather large surfaces behind you at 15:14.
Those are sturgeon. They roll on the surface all the time.
Niceyak
When this pandemic is over, cross the border and come chase the 14 footers we have here in the lower mainland!
Poor rod choice and that reel gear ratio seams like for every turn it pulling in a foo? Was that avet ?
Let me re phrase that the rod reel combo is great 👍🏻 just not for the kayak that 8”6 one piece I use on the Columbia I’d go 7 foot one piece in yak

Little Dragons
Try and fight one on a ultra light rod and 4 lb test !😂
No need for a gym membership when you’re fighting fish like that.
Lmao
