  • SKIL 12V And 20V Power Tools Are NOT WHAT I EXPECTED, I can't believe it and I'm pretty sure you won't either! On our trip to Nashville for the STAFDA event we got the chance to see some new SKIL 12V and 20V tools that I have never been able to test before. In this video we try out the 12V drill/driver and impact driver, we also try out some 20V tools like the oscillating tool. After testing these tools and getting a good feel for them I can tell you without a doubt that these tools are quality and not what I expected! This is one of those situations where you need to try it to believe it, hopefully this video will help illustrate the power of SKIL tools. Let us know in the comments section if you would like us to further test these new SKIL tools and which tools you would like too see. Should we have some SKIL tools in a TTR?

    Nice tools Vince. On the Multi tool. The system that Skil is using to attach there blade appears to be the same as my 10 year old Fein Multi Master. The lever on top, the screw that holds the blade, and position of the battery pack all appear to copy an older Fein Multi Master design. Not that it is a bad thing, just an observation. Looking forward to seeing them for myself in the stores. Thanks Vince, very cool video!!!!!!!

    Back in the 90's I know that alote contractors had a skill saw in the truck.
    I had a corded skil grinder for 8 years until a youngster borrowed it and left the slid switch in the lock position with it unplugged. Coming back from the bathroom, I went to plug it back in and that grinder kicked itself off the table and broke in two places ☠🤬😰.
    I had a Bosch corded grinder and that lasted for 2 years until it died.

    Great point about a plastic chuck in a simple drill driver - people obsess over metal chucks! Fair enough for heavy hammer drill usage, but when it comes to lighter work, plastic is just as good if not slightly better.

    I'm an appliance installer and we use an impact to drill holes all day. I recently bought the new Milwaukee installation drill driver kit and it's changed everything. But I still use a DeWalt 3/8 lithium XR with 1/4 hex reducer to drill 1.5" spade holes for feeding electrical and dishwasher drain line holes. It even drills 6" holes for ducting in everything including for downdraft ranges in subfloors. I literally have no need for a conventional chucked drill. I had no idea Skill had a new line. I'll have to check them out.

    Just bought a skill 12 volt screw gun, now I owned a black and decker quantum for the past 16 years, and I really like the black and decker quantum drill hammer, only thing about the quantum is that it is really heavy and I had to work on a ceiling. So off to my favorite lumber store, and saw the skill driver and said what can that small tool do, especially 12 volt, well it worked like a champ, and I put in plenty of dry wall screws in my suspended ceiling. Still haven't charged it and I still have 2 lites left on the battery indicator. One really neat feature is if you have to use a drill (I have harbor freight drills that slide in sockets) just open up the chuck and slide the drill into it, it has its own socket down at the bottom, you could either lock it down or leave the chuck open, pop out the drill and put in a long screw bit. Totally magnificent and here I thought I was buying a light duty screw gun, and was the cheapest in the store.

    This reminds me of a documentary I watched recently about when the Japanese cars came into the American market. People wanted reliable and AFFORDABLE cars that might not have the prestige of the big brands, but will definitely get the job done.
    Hercules, Ryobi, Rigid and Skil are bringing that to the tool market today.

    • @dyer2cycle
      @dyer2cycle ปีที่แล้ว

      ..Ryobi is one brand that I have seen both the quality/durability(not talking about "features" here) slip, while simultaneously the prices have risen..by quite a bit, actually..Skill strikes me as a possible replacement for Ryobi in this arena, if only we can get a large retailer to stock the entire line (these are one of those things I don't like to buy online..I like to actually handle and check this stuff out before I buy it, and a good retailer will take care of you if you have problems, without the hassle of having to ship it back)...

    I was sent out Skil's newer line-up to use, and I was blown away w/ the durability (Keep in mind, I literally destroy tools weekly). It wont compete with Milwaukee or Makita by any means, but for the price? It blows the competition away, in my opinion, as far as Rigid, Ryobi go.

      So how many Skill tools you will destroy before one from Makita?
      I use Makita and can’t kill it drilling 2 9/16 holes for years day in and out.

    Can you compare these skil 12v tools to the new DeWalt 12v extreme tools in a TTR?

    Any idea when the 20V multi tool will be released? Looks the current offerings are older models.

    Skill is what I'm have in my corded tools guess you could say they were my first love. Went Ryobi when I went cordless so I haven't used the skills much since..... My Ryobi tools may be getting nervous

    • @dyer2cycle
      @dyer2cycle 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ..yeah, me too..have lots of Ryobi stuff, some of it several years old..I must say I have had many more problems with the newer "improved" Ryobi stuff..Smoking, melting motors on nearly-new reciprocating saws(more than one-and with normal use)...nearly new 18V batteries that suddenly quit working and won't take a charge..problems with the blade-release mechanism on the recip saws...

    Yes! Put the new SKIL to the test on TTR. I know that SKIL and SKILSAW are different factions while skilSAW being the quality name. Change my mind fellas! Btw, those LED light rings are sick! 👍 Thanks Vince and God bless!😁👍

    The LED on those Skil tools looks pretty nice. I've been thinking about a new oscillating tool. Not sure if I want to go Milwaukee or try the new Skil.
