Firstly; nice video. Secondly; it’s so nice to finally see a US department that understands the importance of Hose Reels and not waste 5 minutes dragging and untangling flat lay. A few points I do have though; 1) traditional US helmets are dangerous and should be withdrawn. 2) beards are a big no no. 3) flash hoods should always be worn with BA.
The most used and "old" German firefighter helmets are built on the model of the M35 Stahlhelm (steal helmet) of the Wehrmacht ((Nazi-)Germany's (main) army in the 2nd World War) (Of curse the helmets for the firefighter have a heat protection in the neck area.) Usually still in service by volunteering firefighter (+ youth firefighter) til today. A proven design! :-) 👍

UK Emergency Responder how are us helmets dangerous? My us helmet will keep me just as safe as a Euro helmet without looking like an astronaut. If something is gonna hit you in the head hard enough to kill you in a us helmet it would kill you in a euro helmet too.
I love hose reels but at least what was taughtfor me in the fire academy and what the department thinks is that hose reels are not sufficient enough for vehicle fire. Could be easily be used for vehicle fires sure but at least we've shied away from them because of people pulling them for other kinds of fires too.

People are gonna loose respect for you if they even had any when you first stepped in the bay.
Could be fresh out of probation or even the fire academy but if he is a vet I could see how it would be annoying we just don’t know if I had to guess I’d say he or she is new because multiple firefighters are trying to help him or her out
If people have a legitimate concern or a question, I'll be happy to explain. If people just want to be jerks on the internet and think they know everything, then they should feel comfortable with a reply that matches their attitude.

No. A booster line doesn't produce enough GPM to QUICKLY and effectively put out a car, or room and contents fire. Sure it will get the job done, eventually but not before you've run out of air in your tank or the fire has moved to another room in the house. There's a reason newer trucks dont get booster reels very much.
I was a nervous wreck when you got that close to the tire 😬 my LT would have have had me scrubbing engine 1 for a whole month for that not to mention you should have put out a fire wall for your partner when opening the hood

Different truck company likely Stations have small differences in turnout gears depending on the area but the trucks themselves stay consistent in color schemes for that specific area

You want to get it open to let the heat out and make sure you get all the fire. Some hoods can be pryed up using the spike of the halligan. This one we just opened it the normal way anyone would open a hood

I've always wondered why US fire engines didn't use rigid tube hose reels for the small diameter "first aid" hose lines (this is the first time I've seen it in a video) as the time saved in getting water on the fire is significant and can make a difference, our FF's manage a lot of incidents (especially auto) with just the reel.
I thought the same until now. I didn't realise hose reels were a thing In the states, I guess it depends on the department? In the UK the hose reel is always the first to come off and is ready to roll with in seconds until a 45 jet is ready or if is actually needed

Our department is in the upper midwest, and hose reels have to be drained or they freeze solid in the winter. Replacing a burst line twice a week is too expensive.
MSA is heavy? Not even close my department has them and they are way lighter then the old ones and they pivot with your back when you lean side to side and have an adjustable back mount to sit on your hips. Scott is decent but if you ask anybody that has run both msa is superior.
The only thing I like about the new MSA is the quick connects on the bottles, handles on the air packs, and moveable lumber support MSA ain’t like it used to be

Sean Bayne in luxembourg we also mask up on the rig, you just have to clip in when you arrive at the entry of an house for examole and as far as i know it‘s also done like this in other countries like france germany belgium netherlands etc. I never had any problems in term of visibility with it
That's one of the reasons I'm such a fan of Dodge because the double firewall interior was hardly touched on that truck but if you're going to own a Dodge any good Dodge owner knows you have to carry two things pair of bolt cutters to use as a quick disconnect on your positive battery cable and a fire extinguisher because they WILL have an electrical fire other than that the great trucks I've yet to own a Dodge I haven't got at least 400,000 miles out of I currently have a 99 2500 with 737239 miles I freaking love them
The work of Russian firefighters is of course fundamentally different from America. We have a collection and departure for a fire or emergency rescue work is not more than 60 seconds. and turn on the devices with air, only as a last resort. And the extinguishing work itself is very different. To all colleagues in the world of good and fewer trips! because if there are no trips. So there is no trouble ...
why was it necessary to put bunch of holes in the hood of the car? could you just extinguish it from the wheel well? or was just for fun putting holes in the car?
Not to mention no seat belts, and you aren't supposed to tighten straps or release seat mounted SCBA until the apparatus is stopped. And that booster reels are no longer approved for vehicle fires....but hey, who's counting

Everywhere is different with helmet colors. Here white it's chiefs and the captains, red is lieutenants. The tire was definitely cooled, the chief (my partner) told me to put the nozzle in and spray the fire while he opened the hood, and that's correct. I used narrow fog not a straight stream
1: the tire was already popped if you look close enough. 2: quit being an arm chair fireman. You wasnt there and neither was I so dont act like it 🤷 they did a good job.

spike into the hood and then lift up. he had trouble getting a good bite on the last two but it worked.
