@mudducke8 At least in the United States, most, if not all state Legislatures have passed laws permitting emergency vehicles to disregard traffic laws as necessary for that emergency vehicle. The authority is from the state Legislature.
They did an amazing job knocking down that fire as quickly as they did. given the way these structures burn the other residents were lucky. That whole building could've. Prayers to those that lost everything,

Hey FireRescue50! I watch your videos often and love the content, I work with my full time dept as a junior FF. Anyways, I was wondering what chest light and helmet light you use for firefighting, I’m having trouble finding the right ones. Much appreciated if you could tell! Have a great night!
Very quick response! A job well done. I’ve got a question though. What is that fast spinning thing you can see on the left? I’ve noticed also that the fire was spreading through the whole attic. Are there no firewalls between these units? Greetings from the Netherlands.
@NoHarmDunn You ask about a firehouse signal in a state where "Sheriff's" are not legally allowed to act as police. You ask about a simple signal light in a state where, for the most part, there are no county services, only town, borough, village, township, or city. Layer upon layer of political subdivision Bureaucracy... lmao
They're probably doing district coverage for the companies already on the incident. Being a midmount, it probably doesn't fit in the station they are covering for so they posted.
sounded like with the roof you were using a battery powered chain saw, do you find them better than their gas counterpart i'm sure the weight is way different as well
How do U.S. fire departments respond to fires in buildings 30 stories or higher? Can a fire department's ladder vehicle handle a fire in a high-rise building higher than 30 stories?
most Ladder, towers, and other platform trucks are any where from 85ft to 110ft reach. there are certain dept. that have specialty trucks that can reach way higher, but for like 30+ stories, none compromised structures its all interior reach. standpipes are located in stair wells throughout most highrise buildings. so water supply wouldnt be a problem at those heights.
No not really. It can cause a pressure spike and damage the pump and/or branch. Best practice is to have wedges each side to make a bridge for the wheels to go over so they don't squish the hose. PS branch = nozzle I'm Australian
Technically you shouldn't drive over any hose lines. Although as long as it's not charged and an official says it's okay, then it should be alright. As @elinor6525 said, there are hose ramps to allow vehicles to go over charged hose lines, though rarely do I ever see them used.
That was a very stupid thing to do driving that distance into head on traffic. This guy should have a sit down with his battalion chief and if the chief condones that decision he shouldn’t be in his position. I was an engineer for a long time and if I would have pulled a stunt like that I would have had my ass kicked across the engine bay. Now go ahead and pile on but no one can defend that stunt.
Did they need more distance? I wouldn't say never. That's something that tends to vary from situation to situation and in this case I don't think the extra distance would've had any additional benefit
One: This call is not in their first due, meaning it's not in their district. So of course, their response is going to be longer, which for a mutual aid response, 8 minutes is actually quite quick. And driving a 20-ton fire truck through busy streets isn't easy. Two: You never run at a fire scene as it's a safety hazard. You move with a purpose "Power-walk". You use more energy running and can possibly trip over tools and hose lines. You might think it's slow but this was actually quite quick, and they had a fairly quick knock down of the fire.
@ 1 I know exactly what it’s like to drive a rig through streets 2 I have seen some fire companies get water on a fire within 30 seconds and a full crew have ladders hoses saws etc within 5 minutes. This was slow. As are most companies
@@Moneymike29 You sure you watched the same video? Because I can see ground ladders placed and crews beginning fire attack just as the Truck arrives. That was a very bad fire with the loss of a tenant. Good work by all the crews in containing the fire as quickly as they did.
