yeah, even on a maybach it doesn't take 10 hrs to re and re a door. You unplug the door, 4 bolts to remove it, put them side by each on a bench and pull one thing off put it on the other. I bet it won't take an hour. Maybe if there's damage and it needs to be replaced, that's one thing.

I had to replace the window regulator in my F150. Never done it before. Took me 20 minutes. I bet I spent 10 mins looking for the right socket because they use FOUR different sizes on the damn door.
I love that it's so specific to say "add 1 liter of oil at the gas station", not just add 1 liter of oil. It's probably safe to assume the original owners of these cars wouldn't know where to find oil.

My E500 of similar vintage says "add 1 litre of oil when next refuelling"... I never thought how weird that is until now as I don't think I've ever seen someone adding oil at a petrol station.
@@donkmeister It's a throw back to when almost all gas stations were actually "service stations". I mean there's still plenty out there where you can get your car serviced and or get gas. They aren't as prevalent as they used to be though. I'm guessing it's the same case for most petrol stations in Europe as well but I could be wrong.

Professional auto body repair, detailer here... I think you nailed it. The damage definitely DOES correspond with tractor trailer rear collision guard damage. I would say the trailer was trying to back up, next to the Maybach, got past the fender and rriver door, so he thought he was good, then clipped the rear passenger door. Then stopped, partially corrected, got off of the car, started to back up again, this time only barely touching the car. Resulting in the initial puncture, then subsequent scraping down the side, getting deeper as it reversed further. So there ya' go. I pretty much guarantee that's what happened. Probably belonged to a businessman, who owned a business involved in shipping. While parked at his place of business, one of his trucks clipped him. Explaining why a Maybach would be parked where trucks would be backing up...

That was painter's tape--low adhesion. Meant to be removed easily without residue. Easy to rip, too. The wrong tape for the job.

The door swung open in a corner on my Dads Mercury Comet when I was a kid. I was hanging out by the seat belt (thankfully he installed Seatelts). Ever since then I've had people complain that I slam car doors.

The Maybach 62S has always been my ultimate DREAM car from the moment I heard about it in 2004-2005. I would NEVER pay $200K+ for a NEW Mercedes-Maybach without the Maybach emblem in the front and on the steering wheel! Hopefully that's changed for 2020 and 2021! I REALLY miss these cars! They had an opulence and luxuriousness truly in a class of its own. Between the Maybach, RR and the Bentley's it was always Maybach for me. I really wish they would update this car with a slightly more modern and updated exterior that doesn't take away from the original 57/62 and with today's tech and innovations. The current S-Class, even in the Maybach variant just doesn't have the same vibe, sadly.
NOTHING compared to what this car offered in terms of its opulence and luxury and that honestly couldn't be more true today, for me.

Seen that damage on many cars. It was very likely an electric gate closing they thought they could make it through. It's always on the driver side, always about halfway down (because they thought they could clear it) and if you look, it nearly always has a drag mark and then gets deeper as the gate sets into the car.
W - $750-$100 to replace door
H - I might have to help you with that
W - $1500 to replace door

This is for the wizard, I use a MAXISYS elite every day for work (I'm an ADAS technician), anyway, if you click the "report" function after an auto scan, it will display all the codes read instead of individually selecting the modules and pulling codes from them. You may have known this already, but with cars like this with oodles of codes, it makes it a little easier to see all of them at one time with their description.
Latvia is a beautiful country and the people are amazing. I was there several times when I was in the Navy. We were there when they celebrated joining the United Nations.

Well Tyler, this is quite the project car, this time. I saw this car the year it launched at the Toronto Auto Show and was allowed to sit in it on its revolving tray simply because I knew how to correct pronounce the Maybach name!

Starting at 10:15, the slamming of the door instantly reminded me of my grandfather's, brand new at the time, Beige 1979 Morris Marina. A shockingly built car by the Austin group. I still remember burning my legs during the summer on the horrific velour seats. Incredibly he went on to buy the face-lifted model called the Ital. At least that one wasn't beige..
I didn't know about the German car part market in Latvia til I got into BMW/ Mercedes hooptie ownership!
So many of my hard to come by parts are from there.

It's true... we have big problems with organized theft from that shit country in Sweden.
FYI on the valve cover gaskets. Sometimes leaking vcg's can be an indication of excess blow-by in the engine (piston rings or cylinder walls worn) causing high internal pressure in the engine. Not just bad gaskets. Much much worse $ than just old leaking vcg's.
Cheapest one on cargurus is 40k with 56,000 miles with what looks to be a clean title

I live about 2 minutes from the Navy base in Connecticut. Hoovie found a Walmart receipt from CT in the glovebox, and that’s a US Navy air freshener.
I’ve had plenty of Navy friends, and I’ve seen the sheer drama that happens at base housing. I wouldn’t doubt that someone cheated and it was taken out on the car. I’ve heard stories of people coming home from deployment to find their car messed up and their spouse gone.
If parts are coming from Latvia, then they are 100% sure of some stolen Maybach :p :p :p :p :p :p :p
