thanks bro for this experiment. Today i am making red cabbage first time i m worry because Cabbage change the color of water into blue during washing 🤣🤣🤣. After seeing this video i am satisfy.
You can also test tea, coffee, various juices, soft drinks, citric acid and calcium hydroxide. The last two are from the canning supplies section at Walmart. I have done this with Upward Bound in the summer. Students love it. I stick to rather innocuous chemicals for safety reasons. Students do it with test tubes in a test tube rack and try to get the gradations from color to color in the tubes. After the students get the color spectrum, have them mix different acids and bases and try to get back to neutral. Measure water and chemicals to do this. It's sort of a hands on math lesson in pH.
Thank you so much for making these videos Thoisoi2. I am a chemistry major myself, and I love to watch these wonderful and beautiful demonstrations you make. Keep up the good work!!!
very cool, my mother make beautiful red cabbage, she adds vinegar and cooking apples to it, both of which are mildly acidic, but it must have some effect on the colour.
A very brilliant experiment done by you. You have plenty of videos and I decided to give you a like. The best video I ever saw, in TH-cam!! I actually never like or even dislike anyone's videos this is my first like on youtube and it came to you!! Keep it up!
I wonder how much you'd need to make a visible change in a gin tonic, and if you'd taste cabbage flavor between the gin and tonic. I know they usally use butterfly pea flowers, but I like the colors more from cabbage.
I did this several times: i created a red solution with red cabbage extract and acid, and i created a green solution with red cabbage extract and an alkaline. Then i put the red sulution together with the green solution and got a yellow solution.
Omg When you needed to bring a red cabbage in to class for a practical but you couldn’t so your teacher tells you to watch 2 five minute videos and the rest of the class has to spend an hour doing work 😂😂
The vid was great except for the voice, it was difficult to follow along with what he was saying! Thankfully he put it in the description, very helpful!
+ßαѕнαуеʀ. ßader I don't think it would work. You won't be able to perceive any difference in color since the pH change will be very small (6.5-7.5). Only in cases when the water is highly contaminated with an acid or a base, this indicator should then work.
Does this thing have a proof about the results? Like why would it be red? Pink? And how could u classify the aciditg by color? Please help me 😭 I'm using this as my IP
How to isolate the dye from red cabbage . So that it can be made once and used forever . I tried dissolving the dye in alcohol but still it got destroyed after some time.
just wondering, was the bubbling because of exothermic reactions (you had suphuric acid and water in there) of just because of the carbonic acid losing the CO2 molecules?
how can I accurately measure the pH of fountain pen ink? I guess the dye from the ink will influence the colour interpretation of the actual pH? Thanks
Acidity is measured in solutions, because it measures the amount of H3O+ molecules in the liquid. You would need to dissolve the candy in an appropiate solvent.
because red cabbage (as well as all plants) contains sugars, which if left at room temperature for a really really long time, (assuming some bacteria resides in the liquid) will produce large, naturally acid, bacterial colonies, which could affect the experiment, by refrigerating the substance, this slows down the consequence explained above and allows the substance to be used over a longer period of time before becoming less precise, However maybe the guy performing this experiment was not aware of this and just refrigerated this for other reasons
My life is home work doctors degrees seem small I got sulphuric acid piranha solution and phosphoric acid I'm wondering if this would be good for enzym tests
finally... a ph test video that actually is helpful...
Yeah, BORAT is great again
Yes i agree
Anyone watching this golden video during the covid lockdown??
wampirabbit yes sir
6 months later because I just stared chemistry :)
Yes teehee
Nope

Oh my God. Thank you guys a million. This experiment is what I was looking for all along.
I came from a kuroken fanfic but i enjoyed the vid. Win win situation
how tf did you get from that to here and pls send link
Same lmao--
Actually kinda pretty.
did anyone else get super anxious watching him slice that cabbage? Thought he was going to lose a finger for a minute there
This is the very honest and true video I hv eva watched in youtube
THANKS MAN you were a real help for my project
mine too
mine also
Yes
No
Mine too
This is amazing! Been looking for a good video that explains it, and this is the best one so far. By a lot!
Thank you so much for making these videos Thoisoi2. I am a chemistry major myself, and I love to watch these wonderful and beautiful demonstrations you make. Keep up the good work!!!
Did you get your degree yet? I am a Chemistry major as well.
You can also just make kielbasa with red cabbage. Save the juice. ;-)
İ love how you dont use gloves when handling sulfric acid
This is super helpful thank you. I need this for my chemical changes test for science
This is much better than the methyl orange indicator, because it distinguishes between a weak and strong acid, and a weak and strong base
FINALLY a one that is super accurate
i love drinking this!!! must try if you have kids and pets, they will love it !! 🥂😘
very cool, my mother make beautiful red cabbage, she adds vinegar and cooking apples to it, both of which are mildly acidic, but it must have some effect on the colour.
its so useful especially for the sciencefair i am making it this year ✌

Really nice and easy to make indicator. Isn't chemistry so much fun?
First you will need to buy a cabbage lol
LOL 😂😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Well duh
Buy it's cheap
I did 🙂
u r a cabbage

You are great, can you please tell me how esters are formed in fruits
Even i want to know
a very god and knowledgeable video by the publisher

An excellent ph indicator , thanks my friend
it is useful for PH reading for suitable plant from acid from garden soil
We did that in school
Duprr
Thanks a lot man! You helped me out a lot! Kudos to you!
can you just use a sift to separate the red cabbage from the juice or do you need filter paper?
Thank You! This is my project for the Science fair
I'll be yeeting these steps thank you very much
Omg
When you needed to bring a red cabbage in to class for a practical but you couldn’t so your teacher tells you to watch 2 five minute videos and the rest of the class has to spend an hour doing work 😂😂
I baught the red cabbage but not the knife, thanks for nothing, now I'm stuck with a red cabbage that I can't cut...
Happy Fox IdIoT
Not funny 😑😑😑😑
Thank you sooo much!
You've saved my grades...
The vid was great except for the voice, it was difficult to follow along with what he was saying! Thankfully he put it in the description, very helpful!
Very nice experiment....
Me sitting here bc o my science teacher..... thanks mr cooper
How do you safely dispose of the acid/alkali solutions in a non-laboratory environment?
dis ting look so easy........but guyana rarely get red cabbage so me dooom....mussy ga search a hole guyana jus fu get one......i tell u
WE DID THIS IN CHEM CLASS TODAY!!
can you test oils and milks with this method?
omg.... this video is amazing..... I love you
This is way KEWL! Thank you.
can i check the water acidity by this solution ?

Okay so I tried this and its awesome

really good ascent bro

just wondering, was the bubbling because of exothermic reactions (you had suphuric acid and water in there) of just because of the carbonic acid losing the CO2 molecules?
lot cheaper than buying a bottle of universal indicator
Ok so this was the experiments i see in tv cartoon shows
Great this is like magic
Thank you for making this.
dont mind me... I came here from KuroKen fanfic :3
Thanks I used this for my project
so pretty!! and the vid was very usefull!!
Is it possible to create a continuous ph tester for aquariums instead of the usual disposable ones?
Awesome! Video , I will surely do this! :D
didn't know red cabbage is this helpful! as a vegetable it's not too tasty==
May I ask how the 4:01 that clear layered solution is showed? the chemical and the mechanisms behind?
Nice video, but you should use gloves when handling those concentrated chemicals. It might be corrosive.
i have a lifetime supply of pH paper but it's so compact I can't find it, until then I am cabbage man
anyone else watching this because of corona homework?
Thanks I want for my experiment
What did you mix to make the green liquid?
What are the acid's names
Awesome video !!!! Thank you :)
Very useful, thank you.
you are a godsend
SODIUM HYDROXIDE (LYE) POURED INTO THE CUP TO THE FAR RIGHT WHICH TURNED YELLOW.
I want to ask if hydrogen indicator toxic ?
Nature is great.
very beautiful
how can I accurately measure the pH of fountain pen ink? I guess the dye from the ink will influence the colour interpretation of the actual pH? Thanks
At room temperature, it is about 4.5 but that varies from brand to brand.
If I want to measure the acidity of a solid, like a sour candy, will it work?
Acidity is measured in solutions, because it measures the amount of H3O+ molecules in the liquid. You would need to dissolve the candy in an appropiate solvent.
Why is it refrigerated?
Shit.
Multiplication did you find out eventually? IF so why?
because red cabbage (as well as all plants) contains sugars, which if left at room temperature for a really really long time, (assuming some bacteria resides in the liquid) will produce large, naturally acid, bacterial colonies, which could affect the experiment, by refrigerating the substance, this slows down the consequence explained above and allows the substance to be used over a longer period of time before becoming less precise,

Anyone watching this for homework?
I am watching this so I can test the pH of the water for my cannabis plants
My life is home work doctors degrees seem small I got sulphuric acid piranha solution and phosphoric acid I'm wondering if this would be good for enzym tests
Great video! :)
The stuff can become moldy rather easily.
Can someone please let me know what a chemical equation would look like
Tito c an example of vinegar and hydrochloric acid a chemical reaction is it will start to fizz and have bubbles in it
are you suggesting people just add whatever chemical they want to the water? might want to give a disclosure that that is dangerous.
I’m doing this for science hm
Круто! Попробую!
We did this at school on Friday 6 July
But green indicates nuetral, ph7 and not 13-14, it needs to be light purple to dark blue to be an alkaline
does this work with beetroot?
this is so cool! :)
Yeeeeet in the land
the video is nice but I am having a hard time understanding the speaker
Subbed! :)
good job
Save me from doing this (I have this activity in online class)DANG!!
Thank you !!
this is Phenolphthalein?
mine is purrple,why?!
his voice is muffled and i cannot understand pls make your voice clear in the future
how do you do that?
