- Been running these Thorogood Work Boots 814-3800 for 10 months or so. I've had plenty of other brands over the years. JK, Red Wing, LL Bean to name a few. These have been the longest lasting best performing boots to date. Comfort and durability that surpasses the rest! Thanks for watching!
Get them resoled we would love a video on it.
Ive been wearing these for 11 months. I agree with everything you've mentioned. Never have wet feet. Never slip. I got the Thorogood insoles too, man they are comfortable. I've tried many many boots....I'll keep buying these for sure.
Definitely a great boot all around! A favorite of mine for sure! Thx for comment!
Damn good video!! Why it only
Has a few hundred views, I have no idea. I love real videos on boots, people that work in them and work them hard. Nice work! I’m about to do a video on these myself.
You can get them resoled by a cobbler. Definitely condition those boots more frequently.
$300 every 10 months for boots is outrageous and yet buying cheap boots comes out about the same.
Lord have mercy on the workin’ man.
Just finally got a new pair. I was a little bummed they put a toe box in em. But I’m gonna wear em. My last pair never let me down
This was an amazing review. Please make a video about you getting them resoled
Thx for the positive feedback! I'm currently wearing another boot brand for a review along with the new Thorogood's! A resole video is something that's been requested so I'm getting that going as soon as I can. 👍
Great video straight to the point 👍🏽
Appreciate it! Thx for the comment!
Great video!
Appreciate man!👍
Any more boot videos to come? 🔥🔥
I'm currently testing some boots by Brunt. Just another month...maybe 2 before I do a review.
@@trod7374 Hey T Rod. Hope all is well, and thank you for the reply. Appreciated. Always great seeing your boots. Looking forward to your next boot video.
Thanks for the info! Did you consider taking them to a cobbler or shoe repair shop for a resole?
I'll be looking around my area soon to see if a resole is possible. I'd like to have these resoled for a backup pair. Also a if a good repair shop can resole then maybe clean and condition too? Have a couple pairs in good condition to rotate would be awesome! Thanks for the comment!
@@trod7374 No problem, and yeah these appear to still be in great condition, a resole/cleaning shouldn't be an issue. I hope you find a decent shop that doesn't charge an arm and a leg!
How did the JK Boots work out? Any update videos to come?
The JK boots were great! Unfortunately I neglected them for too long and they're in pretty bad shape. I still have them and may try doing a video of "What not to do" with those kinds of boots. Then try to restore them? Leather lowers are hard as a rock...Totally my fault.
@trod7374 that's a bummer, I have a pair of JK's I think they are the best Pacific North West boot. They can rebuild them for you. I also love all of my Thorogood boots as well. Thanks for the videos. I have a few boot videos on my channels well.
Have you tried a redwing wedge sole? I’m in the market for a moc-toe wedge sole, wondering if I should go Thorogood or Red Wing
I use to wear Red Wing boots years ago. Like 10+ years ago. Nothing with a wedge sole, so unfortunately I can't give you any feedback with that. Thorogoods have been solid for me so it'll be tough to try another brand...even though I'm currently testing some boots by Brunt.😓
@@trod7374Brunt’s?? Oh please man, say it ain’t so. Those were the absolute worst boots I’ve ever owned. Looking forward to seeing a video from you on those.
@doublebase6509 hopefully in a week or 2 I'll have it ready to post.👍
Question, are they slippery in wet grass?
I thought with the lack of aggressive tread they were going to be slightly slippery, but I haven't felt them slide at all really.
Can you wear these for casual wear instead for work use?
Definitely! I've tried some other boots that were more for "going out" than on the job site and they were shit to be honest! These boots can do both. Just keep them clean, not too dirty and you'll be good to go! Great looking, quality construction and all day comfort...can't ask for more.👍
60 to 70 bucks and a cobbler can put new wedge soles on there
Do you still wear the jk’s
I still have the JK's. Unfortunately I didn't take care of them like I should have. They need a restoration bad so they can be brought back to life! Totally my fault...maybe a video of what not to do with your JK boots. 👍
Thanks for the update. I have a pair and I’m doing the same as you just letting them ride and not taking the best care of them
Back in the 70's and early 80s Thorogood's were all I wore and loved them! The place I bought them went out of business and no one else carried them. I switched to Hy-Test they were more comfortable but wore out too fast. I went to work a company that paid for your boots, and I started buying Redwings and could never get a pair that was comfortable. Sense I retired I've been wearing hiking boots. The other day on a whim I ordered a pair Thorogood moc toes and they were horrible! Not true to size, WAY to narrow and the leather was supper thin. They seemed very poor quality for a $250 pair of boots!
How’s the sizing?
Sizing is spot on for me. I'm a 9.5 in Redwing and a 9.5 in these as well as most other boots. My Nike running shoes I'm a 10. I went with the medium width. I'm on the skinner side of things 5'11" @ 175, so for me they have the right amount of width without getting loose through out the day. They do offer a wide version as well.
what laces do you use
I've been using Iron laces for years and that's all I use. I'm not a welder, so they probably wouldn't work in that environment, but everything else I think they'd handle just fine. Ironlace...one word on Amazon. Pick your length and you'll be set! 👍
@@trod7374 Thanks, You're the man!
How do they rate compared to your JK
The craftmanship on the JK's was the best I've seen thus far. You get what you pay for for sure. Thorogood not quite as good but definitely not as expensive either. Comfort wise the JK take some getting use too because of the tall heal, but after a few weeks that's not an issue. Thorogood is great right from the start. I work in wet conditions daily so the waterproof liner Thorogood uses is really a huge benefit for me. I know the JK's can be oiled and conditioned to basically get the same result...I'm just not willing to do what it takes to keep them in that condition. After about 10 mths of neglect the JK's were as hard a rock and in need of some serious tlc to get them back in working order. The Thorogood's in the same time frame and same neglect just needed a resole. Speaking of soles... The JK soles are firmer than the Thorogood. Softer sole wears faster, but adds a little to the comfort. For me the Thorogood does everything I need a great work boot. Price is fine and matches the quality. Long lasting enough and comfortable to wear all day in the conditions I put them through. I do see that JK is now offering a wedge sole boot called "Forefront" that I might try out. Just not for my daily work. Hope this helps. Any other questions just let me know.
Wow ty trod !!!
I want the 814-4141 but with black wedge soles hard to find
Thorogood has to make boots its smaller sizes
I agree. I see the smallest size they offer is 8. Hopefully they'll expand the size range in the future.👍
You could get new soles put on there for about $100
Soon as I get a chance I'm going to look into it. Thanks for the info man!👍
Do a resole
It's on the to do list man. My work will hopefully slow down with some cooler weather and allow some time for more videos.
Just got the 1957 with steel toe
CAN I PLEASE HAVE YOUR TRASHED ???? PLEASE???
Heavy boot
