Homelander is great at acting as Antony Starr.
The fact that people are saying this just goes to show how great he is at acting.
I feel scared watching him. It's like John Doe
Best. Comment. Ever.
The one and only!
0:15 that Homelander "this is sum bs" stare
It is so heartwarming to see Homelander helping terminal Butcher in a make-believe fantasy interview. Homelander truly is a great hero.
zdechni
"You guys are the heroes.", then to "You're not the real heroes. I'm the real hero.".
He is the hero we deserve.
You know he helped stop Soldier Boy from his attack!😅
Well... He IS just... better
Ten thousandth like!
Fun fact: Antony Starr is such a good actor that people are actually scared of him because of how good he did with his Homelander act 😂
I know I am
This is very believable 😂😂
😂😂 would run If I see him in real life too.
I would be
i dont know when hes just gonna drill his lazer eyes into billy, even though this is a irl interview lmao
2 New Zealand boys talking about their characters. I love it!🤩
I didn't know Anthony was kiwi
I think that Karl Urban is English but now I think that He is a kiwi actor but born with British accent.
@@Sa.d.bo26 He was on Outrageous Fortune, it's old school 😂😂
@@user-fi8ye1kd6n There's two types of accents you'll find here in New Zealand the one like Korg from Marvel "Taika Waititi and the more British sounding one like Karl Urban
They were both born in Wellington too funny enough
Anthony Starr is the only actor that if he walked by me in his costume. I would be truly terrified.😅
On God, this man deserves an Emmy.
True, nobody plays Antony Starr better than Homelander and he deserve the award 100%.
Banshee was terryfieng too
He's terrible irl as well so you should be..lol
He was found guilty of drunken assault.
@@user-gm7ho8tq5h we've all been there. Right?
@@user-gm7ho8tq5h ya and unlike another actor who was found guilty with similar crimes, he actually owned up to it and got help and didn't flee across the continent evading the law
Antony Starr will always be the Homelander for the rest of our lives, he's literally born for that role
And he could also be a great Albert wesker.
Didn't many people fancast him as Eobard Thawne in DC? He would actually pull any "hero turned rouge" type character perfectly.
But he will also always be Hood. Or well, he never was Hood. But he will always be the nameless man that pretended to be Hood.
Literally not, that's would be very The Boys though.
@@thejason347 Banshee is so underrated show
Both of their acting is so terrific that this interview feels like a show and the show feels like a real thing.
100% 🤣
i had the same thought xDDD
truuuuue
Starrs acting is probably as good as I've ever seen. The tiny facial expressions between emotions is outstanding at conveying exactly what he wants
Yes!!!
Its even more impressive when you learn he had no confidence about getting the role and gave a half assed audition 😂yet he still got it
@@quincyharris2512wdym audition? He just acted like himself and they thought that was perfect for homelander
You guys have no brain 😂
*Just appreciate the roles and don't dive into the inner thing*
Really nobody cares about that what the inner things you are saying@@quincyharris2512
0:32 that sinister laugh of Antony is Oscar worthy! He should definitely consider acting as a villain.
Ok now hear me out, i thought of this series, it's gonna be called 'the boys' and it s like a super hero series, but the catch is the so called _heroes_ are bad. Maybe they would get this karl urban guy to play this bri ish protagonist that constantly says 'c*nt' and the guy anthony starr to play the antagonist, an evil superman with a milk fetish!
But now that i think of it better, i don't rlly think it would catch on...

Touché monet..
Homelander is so good at acting, he makes us all believe that Anthony Starr is a real person. Amazing.
☠️😂😂
My brian hurted reading this
His performances as Homelander are truly some of the best ever on TV. He now owns that character in a way that Hugh Jackman and Downey Jr did with Wolverine and Iron Man respectively.
not to forget mentioning ryan reynolds as deadpool
And Karl Urban Dredd.
@@HunGerMovies i think Eomer was better
@@_so1ius Nah, that was a forgottable side character to me even if the movie was bigger hit. But he as Dredd nailed it, he was iconic in it, and the movie was awesome too. The discussion here is about that you cannot imagine anyone else playing a certain role, because of owning the character that much, and I cannot imagine anyone else playing Dredd again.
@@HunGerMovies depends it seems
Good to see Homelander and Butcher working things out and share Ryan's custody.
i love how Ryan literally has 2 dads
@@AndrewBarbecue both are fucked up
Butcher is such a simp now.
He is now responsible for every murder by homelander and ryan.
@@liquidphilosopher1816 Right! Had Homelander on the edge, then he had to go and betry his own deal. Butcher is a psycho that can't really decide what he wants.
Homelander meets Judge Dredd
What I like about Homelander as a villain is how most of the scary comic book villains have this bond villain vibe where they are cold and calculated. But Homelander showed that having a villain that's incredibly emotionally unstable can be even more terrifying.
It’s that and the fact that he’s so powerful. Having a character with Superman powers but no responsibility using them puts you on the edge every second he’s on screen.
You can never know what he's going to do...he's unhinged and scary like that
Exactly, being sinister is scary. But being unpredictable, unstable... It's truly terrifying. And Antony made it believable.
well joker is incredibly emotionally unstable as well it's jus he doesn't have superman powers to become even more terrifying
It's like almost all Superman villains are generally these megalomaniacs who have a ton of gravitas to them. But Homelander is pretty much a much more grounded ball of rage, anxiety and confusion with godlike power. He's like people we personally know, those who seem alright but anything happens and they go off. We know that what keeps us safe is the fact that even with the unstable personality disorders they can be taken down. But Homelander can't be taken down normally. We don't even know if he CAN bee taken down.
After watching all 3 seasons I feel that both Karl and Antony have scored the role of a lifetime
Anthony's 2nd role of a lifetime. "Banshee" was awesome too
Karl Urban is so legit. I'm glad he gets lots of accolades but I feel like he deserves more - every role I see him in, he gives an incredible performance that often outshines everything else. I feel like he has lots of fun with Butcher and it's great to see.
These men deserve Emmys, both of them.
Antony starr does but Karl Urban’s English accent is TERRIBLE. nowhere near Emmy worthy
No, Butcher is cringe. Homelander is the greatest anti-hero since The joker and Thanos
@@erosion271 i don't think he has an English accent, isn't it an Aussie accent?
@@colinedelman6392 homelander is NOT an anti-hero........

0:33 That laugh is pure gold, LOL
I remember leaving a comment about Antony starr being underrated and overlooked about 7 years ago after i watched banshee. Iam so happy niw he got the attention he deserves, a phenomenal actor really.
Starr deserves every high prestige award (and an Oscar too) for playing Homelander. His mere presence is terrifying, his portrayal of a sociopath is just... incredible.
Oscar? Dude, those aren't for TV series. An Emmy would be more appropriate.
@@johncrafton8319 both are rigged awards shows anyways so it would just mean the studio was able to pay for a nomination
and fucking hilarious.
@@the.abhiram.r Sure, but the Oscar simply doesn't apply to this show. You also saying it should get an MTV Video Music Award?
Calm down
As an American i can attest that Starr does an uncommonly good American accent. Better than Christian Bale's who had me fooled in American Psycho
Agreed! But on the other hand...Karl's cockney accent is a bloody shambles...and I'm a kiwi who absolutely loves the guy in pretty much everything he does!
100%
Yeah his American accent is perfect
@@JFLY78glad someone else thinks this. I honestly thought Butcher was just a Kiwi at first before I found out he was supposed to be English 😅
He sounds like a Kiwi who has been living in the States for a while tbh, any accent comes more naturally the more you're exposed to it.
Karl urban My favourite actor..
What a great performer
Watching Butcher & Homelander getting friendly with one another is heartwarming to see lol
Seeing this joke repeated over and over is totally not annoying at all. I love it when people just keep doing and keep telling the same stuff
Binged watched the entire 3 seasons in the same week of discovering the series. Ready for season 4.
I’ve binged watched this show 5 times already I fucking love this show! Can’t wait for S4.
S1 is gold. S2 is silver. S3 is gold(except the ending)
@@devyadav3273 S3 ending made me hate that homelander's kid. Didn't learnt a shit from his mother's death and betryaed the only good person he knew .
@@masskeeper0 yeah! Also Butcher suddenly started acting stupid and protective. Wth! That is totally against his character. Thm fighting against SB while they should be fighting against HL is very odd. Also Maeve is very strong now but how.
@@devyadav3273 Maeve has always been strong, the first scene of the show is a truck driving right through her, and the truck being the one that gets destroyed. There just wasn't many fight scenes with Maeve until the last episode of S3 so we never really got to see the extent of her strength. She's in a similar situation to The Deep, we really don't know how far Deeps abilities go because he's in like 2 fight scenes total the entire show (but the dialogue makes it clear his abilities aren't great, Maeve almost never gets any dialogue talking about her abilities).
Antony Starr was so good as Homelander and his acting was so amazing that I'm actually really intimidated by him and frankly scared. 🤣
For real guys a total menace although hes also a really good actor and a real G
I'm actually so glad he has a different accent from Homelander--makes me have an easier time creating a distinction between the two. I think I just need to watch Banshee again to remind myself that he's an actor and not a genuine Omega level threat to my existence hahaha
He looks way less intimidating without the pads on his suit 😂
I need MORE of their conversations together. their chemistry is insane

These are such great actors who love their craft
Two great kiwis and characters in a great show
We’re not worthy
Homelander is one of the greatest characters in TV history for mine, alongside Omar from the Wire.
Starr is incredible. Urban is incredible too, but Starr is truly the star of the show.
We need an hour version of it
Butcher might get fried by the end
Butcher was really close to getting lasered in half by Homelander
anthony deserves wayyyy more credit for his acting in this show but Karl's acting flys under the radar far too often as well.
A agree 100%!
I love the way Starr kept very engaged with the the conversation, not speaking over but maybe under, just enough that you can hear it and know there's real investment in what you're saying, but not enough to actually interrupt you.
Starr is just so incredible in this role
I love how the writters of this show treat these two characters in a way that reminds me so much to Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino's characters from "HEAT', where the whole plot it's about the protagonist and antagonist stopping each other, but they only come face to face twice in all the movie. And That's something i really like about Butcher and Homelander, it feels special and intimidating when they faced each other on the show.
I can only think of maybe 5 scenes they share together in the whole series maybe 6 and each of those scenes are fkn on point. I really hope they stick the landing whenever they decide to end the show because what they've built up is incredible and I can't wait for homelanders full snap and the scorched earth that'll follow it
Antony Starr is such an incredible actor that, even out of character, I still feel uneasy watching him
Hacen tan bien su trabajo que no puedo dejar de ver a homelander y a billy, es como si asi fuesen ellos en la vida real sus peraonajes le quedan como anillo al dedo
Anthony starr is such an underated actor. the dude plays well as a psychotic super hero. the thing he takes away is the facial expressions.
I think Anthony Starr is one of the best actors of this generation. For those who don't know, I recommend watching the Banshee series (where, amazingly, he is the "Good Guy"). It's incredible the wide range that this actor has in transiting in such different roles.
What a show that was.
Had some great fight scenes in it especially Burton v Nola.
Burton vs Nolan was goated
So was Lucas Hood vs the boxer
@@josephbenobasa "the albino" was nice too

I think everyone in NZ thinks of The Boys as ours, because of these two.
It's too insane, maybe if it was low key and dry lol.
as an Australian, nothing warms my heart more then seeing my Kiwi brothers n sisters taking on these big roles
like Temuera Morrison, he was the only reason I watched Mando season 2 and Book of Boba Fett
@shadowboxing7029 what does that even mean?
Their acting is so good it almost feels illegal for them to be having a normal conversation without the show
When Antony laughs I feel so intimidated like this man one of the best actors in the world
when I see Karl Urban I see Karl Urban but for some reason when I see Antony Starr I just see Homelander
You should watch Banshee then. Antony is the main protag. He's awesome.
That's how it is with people who have never watched Banshee.
I see Lucas Hood.
The level of professionalism that goes into making this show is seldom seen nowadays
yeah i was thinking the same thing
The scenes with Homelander going crazy talking to himself in the mirror or drinking milk or just being a nut case in general really put the show over the top. Not like every other part of the show isn’t amazing, because it is. But Anthony Starr’s acting chops are so chillingly good in the scenes where he’s alone that it really he makes the show worth watching just by himself.
@@gregoryent Some of the Soprano’s best moments were when you saw Tony’s thoughts and dreams inside his head. Homelander is this relatively new and original type of character Ive never seen tried before anywhere else and he just dominates every scene he’s in. The superhero genre has always been super cheesy🧀 but this show takes its villains and the stakes so seriously that it re-defines the genre entirely; so much so that it is on par with the dramatic thrillers like BrBa, The wire, GOT and all the greats
@@Hurrishane03 Someone else said this, but Homelander is one of the only Villians I’ve genuinely been scared of in a while. At any moment your waiting for those lasers to bring death to whoever else is in the room with him. He starts to feel so powerful at certain parts of the show that he takes on that feeling of being a natural disaster. Like a tornado or hurricane. So devoid of any humanity that his decisions cannot be predicted.
You clearly don't watch the right shows then.
Both great actors, they're on point for their roles 🤝
One of the most underrated actors in the world
Both are the life of the show 💃
A couple of the most brutal, callous, dysfunctional and lethal men. And both motivated by love (or the absence of it). Phenomenal.
Anthony Starr's ear-to-ear grin is actually contagious. Good golly what an actor, man. He freaking NAILED it.
Anthony Starr is an incredible actor.
They are both putting on an acting masterclass in this show.
These guys were perfectly cast in this show, I don't think it would have been as good with any other actors.
people are terrified of the actor just because of his role and acting skills.
I loved Antony Starr in Banshee! Even more so in The Boys! And Karl Urban...well, he's good in every role he's played!
Homelander is only the 2nd character I've ever seen that makes gut drop everytime he's on screen cause you never know if and when he snaps. I only ever had this with Joffrey from GoT as they're very similar in being literal children with almost unlimited power abusing it.
Dont forget about Lucy Diclonius.
I know it’s only an interview but I can’t help being terrified of Antony Starr, he’s that good of an actor 😅
I enjoyed Urban in both Dredd and Riddick films. Very expressive and believable actor. The kind that makes you forget you're watching a film and immerse in the alternate reality.
And Antony Starr is just perfect for this role, I can honestly say I won't ever accept anyone else as Homelander in cinema now. It's like trying to cast a different actor as Morpheus in Matrix, it simply wouldn't work.
Without a doubt two of the best contemporary actors to come out of good ol’ New Zealand. If anybody wants to see where Antony Starr got his break. Watch Outrageous Fortune.
These guys both killed it in their roles. Even though homelander is evil I still can't get enough of him
it's surreal and comforting to see two of my favourite characters speaking as fellow countrymen.
No way Antony is 47 man looks 30💀not only that but he is way to good of an actor for me to only have found out about him through this show hope we see him in more big films or shows after the boys or even now

they're spot on about one of the trait that made Homelander a scary character bcoz we can't really expect what he gonna do next, even the character himself struggling to make a decision, and of course driven by an awesome performance by Antony nonetheless
