I think the Fresca was a great way to show that the church was definitely a cult, because the simple truth was that it was just the leader's favorite drink, which meant it was the *_only_* drink in the church. So the lack of other options was a way of showing the absolute power the leader had over his followers. Everyone must drink his favorite drink.
I think another connection between that and a cult is that it is part of their script to offer it especially new recruits as a small gesture of kindness. But made with the purpose to open them up to more interactions/manipulation.

The Boys has totally veered off many of it's comics foundations and honestly I think the show is superior for it. You are always left thinking what's going to happen next, and often the path you see gets massively derailed in the best way.
Yep. They've done a good job of adapting the show and making it feel the same, yet different enough.
I agree, I think it's super annoying how it has such a low rating on Amazon because of idiots who didn't realize the political undertones of the show until they despised the characters who symbolized their ideologies.

I.e. they hated vaught news for all he propaganda they but out, without realizing its a reference to fox. Is that they’ve been pointed this out by online reviewers, friends, etc., they suddenly hate the show for being “too political.” I hope I explained properly, if not I’m sorry.
I despise A-Train, and I think he has no redeeming qualities, but I have nothing but respect for Jessie.
He does such a good job at being contemptable on the edge of doing better, but always takeing a step back to serve his own ego.
That's some good acting talent right there. In a cast so full of just really good actors, and Anthony and Karl at the center of it, Jessie deserves some props.
true but i can see some changes in a-train, he is starting to see whats going on around him, slowly but surely. i think that in a moment of greatest decision in the end he will choose to oppose homelander.

@Satanic Panic Fun and Games His accent, mannerisms, and personality are truly horrific and over the top. But he's so great in everything else he's done that I have to believe it's an intentional "creative" choice. I don't understand why they decided to go that route with the character, but everything else in the show is so good I'm willing to ignore it.

I like the dedication of the cast. The fact they read the comics is wonderful
even though this should be bare minimum for any writers/actors/directors yet it’s happened more than once where disney has failed in doing that.

I'm just glad he's in something new and big. I loved Supernatural, especially the first 5 seasons, and he was always the best actor with the most potential. So its good to see him in a new and interesting role, on an amazing show.
Hands down, A-Train had one of the best storylines in all of Season 3. Such a masterfully written character with the perfect actor to give the character THIS much depth.
You really start liking him more in season 3. He's just a regular dude with super powers and he gets humbled so much in this last season. When he apologizes to Hughie, you can tell he felt it.

That last scene with his brother was pretty hard, though. I hope it doesn't drive him back down a character regression like it could.

I honestly don't know why people say the deep sucks, I know fighting bad guys with fish isn't very helpful, but the fact that he's able to have full on conversations with marine life and they actually have like personalities and can communicate like a human, is pretty nutty in my opinion. Also It's a great way to explore parts of the ocean we've never seen before or are unable to reach.

My Theory for A-Train in Season 3 or following: He'll run one last time to save Hughie's life in some scenario, dying in the proces thus redeeming himself. Then again, that'd be a good ending for him and when it comes to The Boys there are no good endings

Butcher kept pushing hughie to kill him. Eventually he managed to drive Hughie over the edge and he decapitated A-Train by kicking his head off. All members of The Boys in the comics are on some modified version of Compound V so that's why he could do that

This show is fucken awesome. I decided to start watching 3 days ago and binge watched the entire series and can’t wait for more.

It’s always amusing to watch the actors tap dancing on the area between humoring the fan theories and almost leaking confidential plot points lol
My original theory for S3 was that after the explosion at the end of S1, while Butcher was unconscious, Homelander injected him with V so that Butchers fight would mean nothing to him since he would have powers and it would cause a lot of internal conflict in Butcher. After the most recent trailer, I know that’s not the case.
That is a cool storyline though
Kind of wish that were the case, but Homelander wasnt as gone in S1 as he was at the end of S2 or beginning of S3, he didnt care to fight with Butcher.

First saw jensen in ten inch hero and loved him as an actor ever since, can't wait to see more of soldier boy.
A-train has become one of my favorite characters, and it's obvious why. There's no doubt in my mind he's done terrible things, while not completely owning the repercussions of his actions. It took something similar happening to him for him to understand, and regret his actions. For them to literally hit him in the face, to say it's not enough. But what I loved is he didn't react bitterly because of him being a bigger person, but more surprised that he was able to hit him like that. Beautifully written, he deserves more screentime since he can run again
It's been a nice few days watching Jensen doing the boys promo, and I'm so happy and proud for him. at first I thought it's kinda weird to think that, bc I feel like he's not mine to be proud of, but now I've made my peace, it makes sense when you love someone and they're doing good so you're happy for them, it's just that you know them but they don't know you. So if anybody else feels the same, know that it's OK
Honestly that was beautiful. It really did take my breath away. I’ve seen Jensen in Supernatural and that’s how I became so fond of him. But I did need to come to a realization like this, so thanks for commenting 😊

I REALLY appreciate this series, fact that its not just "scary movie" for super heroes AND they taken as serious as possible, LOVE how much they just ripped off characters and made them their own unique characters.
