I have a Honda 250ES BigRed 3 wheeler. I haven't ridden it in about a year so I figured I should take the carb out and clean it . good thing I did it was pretty bad . got it all back together now time to try it out. battery was dead charged it .now comes the same problem you where talking about. I viewed all kinds of youtube vids . this is the one that got me going again .i guess i lucked out on choosing the right black wire. now to put it all back together. i will have to trace out that wire and change it . someone also mentioned there may be a sensor problem and not the wire. in any event i was excited ur trick worked Thanks a lot .
I came across your post while researching a similar problem with a 2002 Rancher TRX350TM. I believe you have diagnosed the symptom, but not the actual cause of your problem. The circuit in question with the "bad wire" affects the illumination of the neutral light. There is a neutral sensor somewhere that is faulty, and not a bad wire.
You are a lifesaver and I owe you a six pack sir ! I had this exact same problem on my 95ex and now she starts like a champ. In replacing the wire did you ever find where it went bad?
Hello, there is a problem on my 2008 Honda trx250tm ES fourtrax. the indicator on the display shows a different position compared to the position on the gearbox. for example on the screen it says that the gearbox is in first gear, but the gearbox is actually in neutral and the green light for neutral does not light up. when I press the small handle and the button down to put it in reverse, the green light for neutral comes on and the gearbox is in reverse gear. I note that I can't get the letter R on the screen at all. I changed the angle sensor but everything is the same. Does anyone have a solution?

Mine the reveres switch Is on when the reverse is off it is disingage and and the neutral wont engage

I had the same problem with my Yamaha except the connection went bad at the fuse therefore it would send any power through the circuit

did you figure out why your Nutrilite wasn't coming on cuz mine don't come on when I turn the key on and no power to my starter
You might need a new regulator that will fix it many but check other steps first regulators are expensive
Fuses all good. Look inside all wire connectors

Check inside the 2 harness connections for corroded wire pins,that was the actual problem
