    So, there are guys like Dave here playing techno in proper way, working the sound, yet you still see posers most of the time on main stages, just waving hands to the music playing out of USB sticks and people praising them.

      No need to think about it. These "djs" are nobodys who have nothing to do with music and creativity. Can you see how Dave here enjoys it? It's all about that man. The rest don't matter.

    Echoing what other's have said, but Dave, this is SO GOOD!! You've totally nailed the energy and flow, plus it's oozing groove. As a fellow DT/DN owner you really inspire me to push these little black boxes to the limit.
    How did you write this set? Did you compose as one whole piece to be played as a set?

    • @Davemech
      @Davemech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers A B, really appreciate the kind words :)
      I create grooves as I call them. Which most of the time consist of one pattern on DT and DN. I mix, morph and arrange the grooves entirely live. So there's a lot of improvisation going on in that aspect. I go a bit more into detail what my live workflow is in a video I uploaded a couple of months ago. You can find it on my channel. Cheers!

    Where's the Analog Heat in the signal chain? What's it doing?

    • @Davemech
      @Davemech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's on the master output to add very mild saturation / warmth.
      I now removed it from the chain though since I use 2 DT and DN now. So it doesn't fit in the case anymore. Must admit I'm not really missing it for the master output saturation as I produce my grooves in a way that already has enough crunch.

  • @maleev_music
    @maleev_music 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You really do great stuff. Big respect for playing them live that good!
    Do you actually use any compression or stuff? or is the sound just coming from the synths through the mixer to the speakers?
    for real... this shit is real dopeness!!!!

    • @Davemech
      @Davemech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Everything comes out of the samplers and FM synth, through the mixer and then into the analog heat which subtly adds a bit of warmth and if I want I can add a bit of saturation with it as well.
      The samplers do have a master compressor which I mostly use as a limiter to control peaks. :)
      Thanks for the kind words !

  • @nym053
    @nym053 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You very clearly know your gear very well :)
    Did you use the Digitone for the chord stabs and are you just using the analogue heat on the end beaf up a bit?

    • @Davemech
      @Davemech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Digitone is mostly used for stabs and pads indeed. Some come from a digitakt though. I'm still exploring the DN for other uses as well. Such a great little synth.
      The AH has multiple purposes at the moment ever since I've routed it as a send return. I expect to release a new video about the DB4 next Sunday where I explain this :)

    • @nym053
      @nym053 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Davemech - Aarh okay great. I'll be looking foward for that then :)
      Yes, I haven't had my Digitone for so long, but someone can definetly take it places that are deep. It's deep, but yet it's simple. But yeah I liked the sound of your chord stabs. Haven't really been trying that out myself yet, though it should've been one of the first things for my to try out. I'm sadly a master at procrastination haha, but I'm working on that (at least).

  • @micindir4213
    @micindir4213 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very cool set. Probably too clean for my taste, but the performance level has set a bar for me. I also like your grooves. You've got some swing from garage which I praise as insanely funky music. The way you transition between tracks is also incredible. It could be mistaken for DJing, which is good and bad at the same time. If I'd be playing in a small basement club (my fav kind of gig) I'd play with distortion and loudness. There's just no way record could sound that dirty, which is a part of a performance for me. Feedback loop with most energetic dancers is what would make or brake a gig for me
    Again I would steal as much knowledge as I can from your videos

    • @Davemech
      @Davemech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words mic. I actually reintroduced Elektron analog heat on the master out of my live setup to add a bit of grit and to control utmost peaks like a psuedo compressor. I do like a cleanish sound but also love a bit of subtle analog grit.
      Thanks again 👍🏻 club gigs are indeed the best :)

  • @neuhen
    @neuhen 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Dave, Im planing a live set with 1 digitone and 1 digitakt, how do you transition between tunes? or is it that why you got two digitakts? thanks

    • @Davemech
      @Davemech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great! I now have 2 digitakts and Digitones. I mix between them and combine the patterns between them as well. With 1 DT and 1 DN having a db4 or something else that can loop will get you there as well. Have fun :)

  • @ethermod307
    @ethermod307 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great set Dave! I was wondering how do you mix the tracks with the 2 Digitakt's? Do you have one track on the first one and the next track on the second one and then you mix it with your mixer or do the Digitakt's run simultaneously?

    • @Davemech
      @Davemech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Thanos. I have grooves on each and mix between them but also combine their sounds to morph them into new stuff live.it gives me a lot of flexibility.

    • @ethermod307
      @ethermod307 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Davemech ah cool! So you don't really have different tracks on each but you just switch patterns and ideas between the two? Did I get it right? This way the whole set up sounds much more cohesive.

    • @Davemech
      @Davemech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ethermod307 Well, yes and no haha. There are different grooves in each DT. Not really full tracks. I arrange everything live. So I do mix between the two, from groove to groove, but combine them too that way. So put simply, if you would call it tracks then each DT contains their own tracks and I mix between the two. But I arrange and mix a bit more fluent than that live. The DB4 plays an important part in this as well. Hope this makes sense.
