The under the table scene with Carmy and Syd felt almost illegal to watch because of how intimate it was. It's just so damn good! Also, I love Syd finally regaining her inspiration to cook while making that omelette for Nat. It's so simple yet so delightful. It was exactly what she needed this season :)
@@beyondtoday692it’s not clear whether the show will be back on the reaction schedule the moment season 3 premieres given their current watch load. A new show is filling this slot once season 2 finishes.
@@robertdelossantos5844 Oh ok, got it. Yes I think you're right. They've done a replacement poll for it already, so we might have to wait a while unfortunately
More fun details. The chef jacket gift is designed by Thom Browne. Thom Browne is the designer Carmy was referencing when he was talking to Claire about drawing pants. It’s also the designer of Syd’s shirt in the pilot. It makes the moment even more intimate because Carmy recognized Syd’s need without any communication and filled it in a way that would be special for the two of them.
Watching this banging my fist against the screen yelling "CALL THE FRIDGE GUY!!!" like that scene in Interstellar when he yells "Don't let me leave, Murph!".
Also, Gillian Jacobs (Britta in Community, Tiff in this show) is the wife of Christopher Storer, creator of this show. So, that "streets ahead" reference definitely makes more sense now.
A few callbacks: Carmy telling Marcus “you can throw down” is from the pilot when Marcus said those words to Carmy at the end of the episode. Natalie calling Sydney a genius means a lot from her considering Carmy said Natalie doesn’t consider Carmy a genius even though the culinary world and Sydney thinks he is. Carmy mentions meeting a famous fashion designer in season 2 episode 5 to Claire. That’s likely Thom Browne, the connection Carmy probably has to get Syd’s jacket. His clothes are not cheap. Carmy used the word “tremendous” to describe Tina’s food. Remember that same word was used for Syd’s risotto in season 1 episode 6, which in that context meant was really good, but not perfect. Something to keep in mind for the finale. Fingers crossed the reactions come back right away for season 3.
I can't wait one week for your reaction to episode 10. The stretch of episodes from 2x6 - 2x10 is incredible. That not even including the 2x4 Marcus episode which I love
I can't believe you guys didn't talk about the table scene! It's my favourite on the episode, it's oddly intimate and a nice metaphor for Carmie and Syd building/holding the place together.
And as a Chicago Cubs fan it couldn’t be any more accurate! I hated the fan base for blaming Bartman, and I was so happy to hear this perspective because it’s 100% true haha
Written very well, but I love that Carmy doesn’t get it and it’s intentionally a little confusing for the audience: Uncle Jimmy is the dad to all these Berzatto misfits children, and in true dad fashion the lesson he’s trying to convey is delivered in a sports metaphor and a little unclear
The camerawork and lighting of these scenes is genius level. Every shadow and dark corner of the kitchen feels like you’re actually there and if you’ve ever worked in a kitchen it feels even more so.
He really doesn't. Ik what you're saying, but I totally get how it slipped his mind. Especially when Carmie is self-sabotaging on a subconscious level. And the stress of his mom coming and what that could mean. Basically an extra stressful variable. It's like the "We accept the love we think we deserve," concept. Carmie needs to know he deserves the chance without him getting in his own way.
@@cctomcat321 Carmy was dropping the ball before his mom was brought up. He already said he would call Tony days prior. He yelled at Syd for something else he didn’t realize he had dropped the ball on, the equipment placement.
@@applepie6832 oh, for sure. Part of me thinks he purposefully said he'd call to set himself up. But there was a chance he would've still actually called, hard to say. Goes back to the self-sabotage part of him getting in his own way. Hard to say exactly where the ball was completely dropped but we could definitely tell it was going to be an issue as soon as he wrestled the responsibility over to himself. I just think his mom was the final nail in whatever part of him that deliberately sets him up to fail. Just another compounding reminder that it's in his blood, or so he thinks. Either way, they do a good job of making things real. Taking on too much for a complex set of reasons and pulling everything together except the one little detail that could possibly ruin everything. But it's almost a safety net because he's much more comfortable messing up, not too unlike Richie in previous episodes. It's basically a battle within himself. The part of him that wants to succeed vs the part that doesn't think he deserves it.
For a second there when Eric reached over for his stress ball, I thought he was going to come back into frame with a bottle of Pepto; especially after last week’s episode.
It's because of Richies speech in this episode that I went and read Siddartha by Hermann Hesse. Truly one of the best books there is. Richies got taste in literature.
It's also wrong gramatically. In French, the correct sentence would be ''omelette au fromage''. The omelette du fromage would translate to ''omelette of cheese'', which makes little sense. The more you know!
i'm not a big egg person. texture goes weird and my brain is like 'you're eating eggs' and i can't finish it. i learned how to make this omelette and it is one of the best things i know how to cook now. french omelettes are the only way to go. the sour cream potato chips are absolutely necessary.
I think its so meta that the football game that unc & carmy talked about was actually: The team: the bear staff The spectactor who caught the ball & everyone blamed: claire, donna (the mom) The other spectactors/everyone: is the audience you & i The writers are literally telling us that whatever goes wrong, is not on claire or donna, but on the bear team
My theory is Tina was the person who hid Carmy's knife back in episode 1 of season 1. I guess in retaliation to Carmy taking her pot without permission. It all comes full circle with Carmy gifting his knife to her.
Am I reading into this a bit where carm thinks of Claire panic and Syd and he calms down like romantic I mean lowkey ship them from s1 bc of how he is hectic and she’s calm 😌 and the table scene highkey made it like u know cute and stuff 😅

Creatives were definitely playing w/ committed relationship tropes and themes to dramatize the investment Carm and Syd give to their baby Bear
