  • While many of us set new goals and resolutions at the beginning of a new year, according to research, roughly half of those resolutions are abandoned by mid-January. One reason this happens is that people often make resolutions based on what they feel like they should want, rather than what they actually do want. In other words, their goals and resolutions aren’t really in alignment with their purpose, which in turn happens because people don’t know what their purpose is.
Today on Being Well, @RickHanson and I discuss how we can identify and pursue our purpose, and why it’s so valuable to have one in the first place. We explore what questions and strategies can help us develop clarity on what we find meaningful, what our core values are, and how we’d like to spend a big chunk of our time.
    Key Topics:
    0:00 Introduction
3:00 Why spend time discussing how to have a purpose?
11:10 Nonverbal ways to establish yourself in your purpose
13:05 Ways to be flexible that make purpose accessible
18:15 Fresh starts help us retain freedom in the present
20:50 How to listen to yourself when unclear what you want
26:00 Getting feedback from others and abandoning doomed pursuits
32:10 Moving past the inner critic and fear of letting others down
38:05 Five questions to ask yourself
    48:35 Soul work and sacredness
50:55 Doing what works to look at things differently

Rick… methinks we are about the same age. I am a proud pensioner - will be 70 next year & am definitely in the beginning of the old age & comfortable being here. Love listening to you & Forrest speaking in your calm, sensitive voices. Glad I found your channel. Think my purpose is to chill & relax after years of trauma & stress I’m content to watch the grass grow, the clouds flow & live in peace.

This is just what l needed a reminder that l have all that l need inside me to find my purpose. That it’s always changing at different stages in our life and that’s okay. I love the tools given to navigate fear in changing when we shift our purposes. Thank you for also making me feel l can change and reconnecting me to that young person l forgot was there.

Yes, just like Barbara, Euro & Frances, I totally agree this was such a powerful, insightful n though provoking and yes, fundamental topic just like Rick said in the beginning.
There were just so many heartfelt messages. Like Euro, I need to grab a notebook and sit with this podcast, so many inspiring topics.
I was listening while I was gardening early morning which is one of my passions and found myself with some points discussed feeling, I know what that feels like, spot on to both of you.
And funnily enough, I picked up the book, The invitation from my daughters n remembering the quote by Mary Oliver also on living this one wild n precious life that we get once chance at each day with purpose and also the knowledge that some days maybe just sitting with trying to understand what life means to one.
A precious, precious conversation n so grateful that I have been listening to your podcasts from time to time which directed me to listen to this one today, just what I needed to return to as many a time it takes to learn, to comprehend n to love to help with life n it’s beauty n adversities n challenges knowing that every moment is fleeting very quickly n before one knows it.
Thank you to both so much for this dialogue. As Rick said, let’s live fearlessly this one wild precious life until we depart to the next level of whatever it brings!

What if im having trouble prioritizing what MY TRUE core values are?
Guilt keeps me stuck in this exercise....
Like i am about loving people & helping people see their greatness.
I also am a healer... I suppose that is a type of healing? What im struggling with is fulfilling that at my age of 40 and without formal education in something that can sustain me financially.
I also keep feeling like moving away. Im a mom but my boys are with their Dad full-time currently Because i was caring for both my parents as they were dying. My dad just passed. I have sacrificed myself for them without even knowing so ive been learning about me. Having kids was a huge trigger for me & upon the loss of my mom .. i wasn't capable of giving them what they deserved. Im the weekend parent now. Huge blow to ego but honestly they've grown so much being away from my past toxicity. I was not like that untill i had to split myself & i couldn't make everyone & everything happy. I became a wreck & almost lost myself.
Anyway that was all random but i just am unsure how to go about this because i know i have something to offer but im also nervous getting back out to the world and ending up working in a job i get drained at.
    Thank you guys❤❤

I feel your attraction to the tarot art and creative approach relates to your attraction to dance via movement and choreography.
