Thanks for another good video brother ! I’m hoping Cabelas will run this caliber on their Black Friday sale this year with those Axis ! I end up buying one every year it seems & I’ve had very good luck out of the Axis rifles . I usually change the scopes on them if I get the ones w the Waver scopes . The Bushnell is a much better scope
I appreciate that. I look forward to the local bass pro in Bristol TN. Black friday add. It's been a personal dream to own 1 of all the more popular hunting rifle calibers. I still have several on my list but lord willing I'll get there. I'm saving right now to find either an older Marlin 45-70 or 444 Marlin.
Don’t know exactly where you’re located in Tenn but I’m in E Ky . I have some bing bangs you may be interested in reviewing. I’d be more than glad to loan you a few along with some ammo to do reviews on if you would be interested.
My long range setup is a .280 AI.It' a great cartridge, almost matching the 7mm Rem Mag. The downside is the insanely high cost of factory loads and brass.
Yeah the biggest reason I bought 4 boxes was for the channel. It would be cheaper for me to buy 280 rem. And fireform. That way I settle the barrel in as well. Thanks for watching and commenting. God bless
I have been wondering about them. I was looking at the Savage Ultralight 280AI. But i wanted a 1@8 twist 24-inch barrel or longer. I would have bought it. If it would've had a faster twist. So i went with a Browning rifle. A Xbolt Hells Canyon Speed Long Range 280AI. Topped it with a Leupold. A VX6 HD 4x24x52mm TMOA reticle scope. I put this setup together. To take on a spring bear hunt next spring. In Idaho or Montana hopefully. Now its load development. Planning on trying several different brand bullets. Nosler Accubond LR 150 168 gr Hornady ELD X 162 175 gr Hornady ELD M 162 180 gr Berger 150 168 gr Classic Hunter Berger 168 gr VLD Berger 175 gr Elite Hunter. I have hunted with a 280 rem for many yrs. My wife uses a 280 Rem. But she may go bear hunting with me. And i was looking at this rifle. For her to use . Add a good muzzle brake. Upgrade the scope. To a 4x12 or a 4x16. I like the green color too.
@@ozark_trapper I am certainly on a budget but God's certainly blessed me. I am finishing up the range test with it but I think I didn't do it real just shooting a 300 win mag 16 rounds at the same time.( switching between guns). I think I'm going to do some testing and it's on the reloading list as well. I would like for it to have been 1 and 8 twist but not going to complain. I am rebarrling an extra savage 30-06 now into the 280 rem. Wanted a rifle in that caliber since I was about 16. I am a big fan of .284. Thanks watching and commenting. Let me know on your loads! God bless
I have a axis 2 in 280 ai it luvs the terminal ascent shoots a .3?? " group i load fer mine too it shoots the 175 eldx consistantly 3/4" everytime ive shot my handloads i got mine few years ago it run me close to 400$ without a scope . I luv mine oh the terminal ascent advertised fps is 2930 i chronoed mine they running 2915 out of 5 shots but i did use j b bore paste on mine before i ever shot it. Enjoy bro
@toddl3682 I'm sorry bud. The day I was filming the range video for the 280AI was the day before Hurricane Helene hit us. Been crazy for awhile as work for water authority. I lost that data over time and my wife cleaning the gun room. I was at the range today for a round of retesting the 280 AI. I will try to get that video out soon. Thanks for watching and commenting. God bless and Merry Christmas
@toddl3682 I know it's killing you to know. I'll give you the numbers. 4 types of factory ammo so far. The Nosler 140 gr. I believe it was the Balistic tip equivalent. While I'm still shooting the factory 3x9 Vortex crossfire BDC that came with it. Out 4 different groups tested so far they have all been less than 1.1 inches. probably about a 15/16 inch average (I didn'thave my calipers with me) with the Federal ascent 155gr coming in 2nd. With roughly a 1.1 inches average.
You couldn’t sell me a Savage Axis if ya gave it to me. My boss bought one in a 25-06 and within a box of shells the firing pin spring broke. And gun was totally inoperable! I think they are junk!

Congratulations man!! I enjoy how your giving God his credit brother :)
I appreciate that!
I read where a guy who has the xbolt with 1-8 twist said its completely unnecessary. I agree. probably don't need to go over 160 gr bullet

I have kicked the 280 AI around for last few yrs . I love savage rifle good shooters
I have had good luck with Savage and have several models.
No fan of the eld line on game.
Yea the Terminal Ascent are about the best bullet in the market. IMHO
They are good bullets. I'm hoping this rifle likes them.
God bless
Want to hear more on how it groups
Thank you
@@andrewolson269 I appreciate that, I hope to get back to the range soon. Lookn forward to seeing the groups myself
@@andrewolson269 I appreciate that. I'm excited to do more accuracy testing myself. High hopes for it!!!! God bless

Okay, it's been 4 months since the video. What ammo shot the best?

Eldx accurate. Not a fan of performance. I do like terminal accent performance
What’s a terminal accent?
I think the ELD x are over rated but a lot of people seem to like them.
They are accurate, and good enough for deer. Not perfect but within its use case they are pretty good.
@@TheCodyO what is the furthered shot that you have made with yours?
@@chadmorrison5094 I’m not really a long range sort of guy. Farthest for me was a Spanish goat at about 140 yards.
