      @@emosch_20 Well IMO the best is the RetroTink 5X. Feed the Component video cables into it and the results are stunning. Regarding the best dongle like this, so far this one was my favorite:

      Same, I got all my consoles (even Switch @720p, lot less dynamic res, and still better picture on compared to most 1080p native titles) hooked up through a hub with a mClassic to my TV, and those cheap Wii2HDMI 1080p upscalers do a way worse job. I just needed a 480p hdmi from my Wii.

    For what it does, It serves its purpose. I know the demo was for the Mayflash adapter itself, but if you throw the MClasssic to it, the picture cleans up very well. I think you said that review is coming. I am sure similar results can be achieved with the other options you tested. I like the thing because it is small, and unassuming. I will not use it without the MClassic though. Good, honest opinion of the adapter.

    Not sure why you keep mentioning jaggies in all of these Wii HDMI reviews. They don't upscale the image. It's just the same 480p you always get from Wii. It's not even worth noting as these do not eliminate jaggies. The point of these devices are to give people a way to hook up their Wii to modern TVs that do not have older input options like component.
    The big difference to look out for in these cheap devices is video interference (usually many diagonal lines) and darkness levels. That's about it.

    I have watched countless videos on this subject. I have a 32" JVC tube TV that I use for 5th and 6th generation consoles as well as the Wii. All these cheap solutions are just pass through devices and don't upscale. I have yet to purchase the Retrotink 5x. Which seems to be the best solution other than modding your systems. I also would like you to dive into this subject with the PS2.

    • @RoXolid
      @RoXolid  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I will say the cheapest solution I've tried thus far, the $6 Wii2HDMI adapter we first tested, actually some minor upscaleing! I was shocked at this. But as I said here, by and large these are port adapters that get you from COmponent or Composite to an HDMI Conection, that's about it.

    • @CommDante
      @CommDante 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are also ps2 to hdmi adapters, I suggest looking into mClassic and keep at digital/HDMI signal. HDMI switches are also farely cheap, just put upscaler as output to TV for ALL your devices to get some treatment.There is a lot of difference in RGB cables, but digital cables at worst just cut out.
      Obviously, if you're nostalgic about RGB orso, Retrotink is a nice one with more options to change things. mClassic is pretty much a 1 trick pony, it will always apply all the filters.

      Wii U actually has a better digital port than most Wii (I think a few black ones actually had a good one? But haven't looked into it much) ...it also does decent upscaling, but mClassic is a lot better. So play Wii games on your Wii U.
      For Wii games (with mClassic) set resolution to 480p on Wii U...for Wii u games on 720p, that way the mClassic can upscale it better. Some games run on like 900p and get internally upscaled to 1080p, which makes it harder for the logarithms mClassic to detect edges etc.

      Well IMO the best is the RetroTink 5X. Feed the Component video cables into it and the results are stunning. Regarding the best dongle like this, so far this one was my favorite:

    That is very blurry. Letting your TV upscale from 480p is not a great idea. If you have an old LCD that is top 720p, it works well, but on a 4k TV? Bad.

      Well the captured footage bypasses a television entirely, so that has nothign to do with the footage shown here. Also, most TVs have 0 upscaling excpt in rare instances from 240P to 480P.

      @@RoXolid all TVs upscale to their native resolution.

      That's not true at all. Many TVs display a variety of different resolutions, they are not locked into just one resolution. If that were the case 4K TVs would only display in 4k

    • @humperdidoo

      @@RoXolid 4K TVs will display at 4K resolution. They take whatever media resolution you feed them and spit them out at full screen/full res. If they didn’t upscale the image, you’d get a postage stamp sized image for old 240p stuff for example.

    • @RoXolid
      @RoXolid  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many larger TVs today don't support 240p resolution for that very reason, because it would not be small like a postage stamp but because they blow it up to be the full screen. Just because you're maintaining a 16x9 aspect ratio does not mean that you are upscaling it to 4k. If that were the case there would be no reason to ever produce a 4K Switch because the TV would upscale it for you. For the same reason, watching a DVD doesn't magically increase it from 480p to 4K if you're watching it through a 4K TV. I'm sorry, but you are mistaken on this.

    I guess if you only have hdmi or composite inputs on a flatscreen, and don’t want to spend much money, this is the way.
