Can you give more info about the SNES "Retro Circuit Cartridge" You mentioned in the video ? Ready want to do something like that with my family (picture). Very cool stuff !
I think that is a good option for someone who is definitely looking an inexpensive option. It not the greatest picture like you said but still a great option. I am glad you take your time to show all price range options because some other channels are just showing more expensive options and if they like the product it's like they promote it. Your videos have the down to earth options for people who are in the lower price ranges because of money issues. So I would like to thank you for doing this.
If one's TV already has composite video inputs it might not be any better. So I think this is the sort of solution for people who have TV's with only HDMI inputs. S-Video to HDMI converters are significantly better than composite to HDMI. However, some systems like the NES only have composite output. Of course an unmodified NES doesn't even have multi-AV output. And so this is really only a viable solution for 4th to 6th gen Nintendo consoles.
@@ShamoaKrasieski-xm4ze Yes it is true that their are better options but it is a cheap option for people that are gamers with limited funds that can't afford the better options. If you are looking for a cheap solution you aren't going to really care about the picture just a better option to play their older consoles.
I’m not a guy that’s looking for a crystal clear picture quality, just something to reduce the fuzz on my tv when playing n64 and this looks like a great option. Will definitely be picking this up when I get the chance
A personal favorite adapter from Mayflash is their Wii HDMI adapter, it converts the component signal well and doesn’t have any white noise from the audio (from what I could hear on my headphones). Recommend that adapter for Wii owners, and it doesn’t overheat or bow on the console. 👍
I agree completely I've had every wii adapter and none of them compare to the mayflash Edition! Super crisp and clear HD image with excellent surround sound that's noticeably brighter and sharper and more pleasant to the eyes than anything component wise connected to the Wii.
@@Neowarshark I agree here as well. I specifically keep my original GameCube around because it has that original component hookup and I have a specific component to HDMI converter they don't even make anymore as the business went under during covid and I was one of the last to get their products before they went off the market. Still provides a better 480p through HDMI image than anything that wii with a mayflash can output though. And I'm able to adjust the picture image quality and force 480p on all games in the GameCube Library which is really nice! 😁
It seems to do exactly what it's suppose to, and it's dirt cheap. I'd personally want to upscale to at least 1080p, but if all your looking for is a way to play your old consoles on a modern flat screen that lacks older video ports (composite, S-Video etc.), then this looks like it gets the job done. I love how super easy it is too. You literally just plug it in and it works.
I just ordered one of these on eBay and waiting for it to arrive! I'm not looking for the best picture in the world, just wanted to play my SNES on my projector! 😊
I went and ordered it, thanks for showing me an affordable capture device for my N64. The boys and I are gonna enjoy watching our Smash Bros matches on youtube soon
I just need an adapter that takes the RGB or S-Video signals and converts it to HDMI. I don't need an upscaler like the Retrotink. If it's better looking than composite, it's a major plus. That's why I like Hyperkin's cables. The SNES/N64/GC one even has a 4:316:9 switch so you don't need to change the settings on your TV. Only "problem" with that one is that it requires using the USB power cable.
Cheap way to you get your Nintendo consoles on HDMI. But the quality looks blurry like it’s a direct composite signal which is a shame that it’s not capturing at least S-video signal quality.
Too bad it couldn't take the signal from s-video or rgb as well. Though that probably would add a decent amount of cost. Which would be too close to a Rad2x. Does the Wii one only take from composite? cause from my recollection their Wii one had really good signal quality.
This reminds me of the cheap Wii2HDMI adapters. I was not lucky with those, I tried 3 different ones and they all had some diagonal stripes rolling over the image for some reason. I ended up getting a component cable for Wii back then and now I just got a Wii U and that's that.
Why does this thing display SNES, and GameCube the best of all of them? Like, legit SNES looked fine. If I didn't know any better I woulda assumed that it was modded with HDMI in mind, like that's worth the $20 alone, imo.
Would you say this is slightly better than the composite A/V and comparable to a S-Video output? I am currently using a S-Video and very happy with it. I need the HDMI for capture.
How does it compare to the Kaiko double scaler that’s 100 dollars? Personally those are expert level soldering work to get HDMi and not that interested in altering classics to that extent. The NES modded with Nintendo port I think is acceptable mod, need to look into that one.
its treating 240p as 480i throwing all kind of detail of the internal resolution, it might as well give inputlag, in fact game looks washed on the screen, not ideal.
Question, does this work with the DOL-101 Gamecube model? I just want something easy to use that doesn't require intimate knowledge of system internals and a workshop as I lack both.
This is good product with little interferance BUT it needs strain releif if you move the console you get screen flashes it needs to have a dongle I will not buy 2nd one because of this
Anyone have a way to plug in both this and the multiport RCA cords as well? I want to play on my big new TV but all my streaming set up is for composite.
I can't get my n64 to work on my smart tv. I bought a upscaler and nothing. I bought a new n4 64 thinking mine was bad but nothing. 1 of my tvs has composet so I tried that and nothing.
Wow, the image quality looks like absolute crap. Much worse than the S-Video/RGB output of those consoles and using the built-in upscaler of most TVs I've come across. This thing is only worth considering if your TV doesn't support S-Video/RGB any more and you can only hook up HDMI.
Not a scaler? If it was a converter that would mean it's outputting 240p over hdmi. It says 1080p on it so I'm guessing it's treating the 240p as 480i and upscaling it. You have so many high end solutions to compare it to that your lack of criticism comes off very strange. I feel sorry for anyone who buys this thing thinking this video had positive thoughts for this piece of junk other than it being cheap
I have this one. It's trash. Doesn't work properly with N64 (lots of stripes in the screen) and the quality for other systems is awful. I do not recommend this product. (The Wii Adapter from MayFlash is great. This one just sucks.)
Agreed. I got one too and am sending it back. Composite looks infinitely better than this on my HD tv. Terrible contrast, totally desaturated. I wasn’t expecting much and this recommendation still led me astray.
The free snes games see. Good but donkey Kong country became pixelated and worse than the smooth snes originals I still play. Mario Bros 2 had better backgrounds but still pixelated.

Why not just use a Wii u it has HDMI on it from the factory.
@First Name Last Name maybe there playing GameCube, too. The first ever released Wii had GC enters (memory card ports and controller ports).

Nice option for 20 bucks. They all looked a tad fuzzy or blurred though
So funny, I just installed this with my Tank stick for a arcade setup and you reviewed both this week.
That looks really nice for the price. The colors are pretty vibrant.
Understandable, have a nice day.
Just looking back at this and you said not everyone’s budget is the same and I can say wow what a great video just that 🎉
Mayflash makes quality adapters. You can't beat 20 bucks for the ability to play all your older Nintendo systems with one purchase.
Damn the N64 looks soft. Now why the hell did they choose Composite over S-video ?
Wondering how it will look if the mclassic is added 🤔
I'd like to see this thing paired with the MClassic wondering how that would look 🤔
Can never understand why these adaptors plug straight into the back. It adds so much to the depth. Why not on a short 3" shielded cable ? Great video

Great video. Why the hell wouldn't an HDMI converter ship without a 4:3 option? A lot of other cheap options offer it.
Looks like a really cheap interlaced composite signal.
I could probably forgive the blurriness, but it seems to only support mono audio.
Geez reminds me of coming home after school playing video games.
Looks interesting, would like a Mega Drive/Genesis version 🤔
No input lag testing? No teardown to see what's inside? :(

Tbh this would be cool just to have as a carry on if you like to go over friends houses a lot and like to take your older systems haha
Glad you highlighted this little doo-dad. As someone who played on CRT sets bc HD hadn't been invented yet, I think the images look great!
The nes looked ok. The other consoles didn’t look good. If you can get another way to play then probably would be better. But at least this is cheap.
Not bad for a budget option
PVM's & RGB output, in NES & N64 special case (no RGB out of the box) via board mods, in my opinion the only way to roll, no alternative!
Thanks man for all your helpful videos. It helps tremendously!
It promises to turn your Volkswagen into a Porsche but looks like I'm getting the over crowded school bus.

would this work with the french NES version as well?
Okay, I've gotta grab this for the GC!
If I didn't have a rad 2x this would be ok.
Pretty awesome
It's alright. Thanks.
Is it composite or s video?

There goes the neighborhood
So it's composite only? GC won't be able to run in its progressive scan mode for supported games?
Whats the accessory thats between the GameCube and Gameboy player?
Ok, so what is the option you recommend if this one is cheap? I did like something similar but that does aspect ratio 4:3

So far my plan is to use my powered RCA splitter and get a RCA to HDMI and use this if it works but there is probably better ways
buy the av out port get a bread bord to make it stable and buld a spliter
This also works on the AV Famicom.
What happens if you add Kurt Angle to the mix?
Is this better than having a RCA to HDMI adapter? I have a GameCube with that setup but the image is a little dark and fuzzy.
What about the Playstation adapter for a LCD screen without Scart port?
I got this for christmas
Can you use progressive scan mode on the GameCube with this
