Today I want to talk about my Stanhopea, avery unique orchid. The opening time of the blooms is very predictable in the case of this orchid and it happens very fast. My Stanhopea buds always blooms at dawn. And, I already was sitting under it at a few minutes past 7 am because i like to watch when that crack open.

Hoje quero falar da minha Stanhopea, uma orquídea muito particular. O tempo de abertura das flores é muito previsível no caso desta orquídea e acontece muito rapidamente. Os botões da minha Stanhopea florescem sempre ao amanhecer. E assim, alguns minutos depois das 7h da manhã já estava sentada debaixo da minha orquidea porque gosto de observar quando os botões se abrem.

I am absolutely thrilled that this orchid continues to give you the same joy, year in year out! The way she bloomed for you this time around, really is sensational. I love the fact that nothing got caught, everything had space... fantastic, vecina favorita! 😍 my leaves, as you know, are doing exactly the same thing, but new growths are already underway, which will eventually balance the tired looking leaves out with fresh new leaves. As temperatures will drop in approx. 4 weeks... 😓 for me, 👍🏼 for our Stans. Hi dear Nina, it's been fun growing this orchid, giving me no trouble other than watering (hope she is not listening 😅) I have plenty of new growths too. One grew from below, tried to get back into the basket and I managed to push it out. However it went in and then decided to come down again, weaving thru the wire 😅 I am curious to see if it will make it but I fear not. Crazy growth!!! I have been meaning to email you but when I can I forget and only remember when I cannot. I wantef to apologize for not asking you for a chat as we had agreed. But latest weeks have been crazy. First of I am having some health issues, hubby also broke a rib and a few days ago Íris was neutered and I have to keep both eyes on her. She is very fussy to eat and to have her take all the pills requires much strategy 😅 Hopefully soon we will pick up out chats ❤❤❤❤

A spectacular bloom display! Stanhopeas blooms are so cool. An orchid I will admire through other grower's channels since I never had luck blooming the one I used to have. Thank you for sharing the blooms. 😊
Hi Anna, mine is getting so big and heavy. She already was when Nina sent it to me but now it is getting into a Monster. I confess, this was not the type of orchid I would think of buying but it'sbeen fun growing it. Thank you and I hope you are having a great weekend 🌷😍❤

It is a funny orchid and easy to grow. So far she is growing and blooming well. But She is big and very heavy. The roots are pine tree-like, rigid and pointy forming a mound on the middle. A very interesting specimen. Thank you so much Denise. I hope you are having a fantastic weekend 🌷😍❤
Interesting to see it growing bare root like that, but it looks very happy, stunning blooms!
The roots formed a mass in the middle that keep the water like a substrate would. They form a sort of a mound. The roots are like pine needles, rigid and strong 😅

@@fatimacristina671 Elas não gostam de frio por isso elas estão crescendo bem. No entanto para florirem elas apreciam uma quebra na temperatura á noite. Também pode acontecer que sejam ainda jovens ou, caso estejam em cestos pode acontecer que as hastes florais fiquem presas e não consigam sair. O meu cesto tem buracos muito largos mas mesmo assim, por vezes, as hastes crescem de encontro aos arames e se eu não lhes der um jeitinho elas ficam ali e não avançam. Beijinhos e bom domingo 😘😘😘
That's so cool you see and filmed this process! Such a great genera that I wish I could grow here in Texas. I had many when I lived in Hawaii.
It has been an easy one to grow here, so far. And it's been fun to grow it. But it is getting so big, I don't think I want another one 😃
They're cool, they sure get big though. And wow are they fragrant, almost overwhelming.
Unfortunately I didn't have room for them and passed mine on to friends with a big greenhouse.
They sure get big. And heavy !! Not the kind of orchid I thought I would have one day but Nina was kind to send it to me. It was and adventure because it had two new growths growing below 😃 But Nina packed it so well that it arrived unharmed 😅
