Yep, it was the re-runs on adult swim after the show had been canceled (for the 1st time I think) and the ratings they got that drove interest back to the show, sales of the DVD box sets went up, and Fox picked it up again.
It is hilariously the original show with highest Nielsen Ratings on Adult Swim interestingly enough. Not even Rick and Morty at its height was able to compare and we know how big of a show that is culturally (regardless of how one thinks, I don’t like Rick and Morty but I won’t deny it’s presence).

Seth Green has said in the past on many occasions through AMAs and interviews that he has no ill feelings against Seth McFarlane, in fact they have been friends since 1998, and that these scenes are for the sake of comedy and poking fun at each other.

I absolutely loved Seth Green in the movie “Idle Hands” Devon Sawa was great as was Green, Jessica Alba (It wasn’t *~because~* of that Angel costume at the end that was clearly intentionally 2 sizes too small… but it sure didn’t diminish my viewing experience I’ll tell ya what 😅) and Elden Henson. Great casting all around AND a brief yet memorable cameo by The Offspring
They don't, Seth Green does the voice for Chris and is obviously just leaning into the meta joke for laughs. Both Seths are comfortable with self deprecating humor
