I just completed my 2-din install on a non-nav radio unit, was very easy after watching your video. I had to remove about 1/4 inch from the sides and top of the bezel for the install kit to fit correctly. What I did different was, not mounting the bezel to the head unit, I left it separate for easy installation as a separate unit. Since all the bezels were removed for this, I removed the push buttons and controls for the AC and cleaned each component. I didn't like the silver color of the bezels so, I looked locally for a matching wood wrap and settled on a black leather wrap instead. I did have issues in the areas above the vents but, it works for me.
Do you have a link for the double din installation kit you got? I know it's been 7 years but I definitely do not want to do a pop out. 🤣 I bought a Kenwood DMX709S, if I have to 3D print something for the airgap I will
Here in Texas it is illegal too have license plate covers or any thing blocking the name Texas on your license plate so the stereo I ordered has a camera that just go's under the bumper and doesn't block any thing
hey I have a 06 zephyr I would like to strip out the factory amp, radio and speakers and put in aftermarket everything is that possible if so please tell me how thank you kindly
Looking to do this on an 07, I would like to do the the head unit along with backup camera, and steering wheel controls, it seems like they don't make this unit anymore. Would like to have the built in Sirius ready and android auto. How do I get a hold of you. I font see a phone or email.
I have a Lincoln mkx 2013 would like to know if you have any video on bypassing factory amplifier for that model because my amp went bad and only plays when I hit bumps.please help thank you.
Hey I'm installing a Boss stereo navigation in my Lincoln Zephyr. Can't find your link for wiring? Where do I purchase the correct harness to plug into the factory harness? Thanks for your help!
on my Zephyr I put in the same kind of radio but I didn't need a stereo kit I cut out the hole perfectly and manged too install it without a kit and it looks factory no gaps or any thing like this guy's but I didn't install the ugly backup camera that did come with my radio cause of Texas State Laws on that you can't cover anything up on your License plates so I have too order a flush mount camera for my bumper
Question bro i have a Lincoln MKX 07 can i connect an aftermarket stereo and a aftermarket amp and sub and still leave the factory amp and sub working or they have to be cancelled and bypass?
where are you gettiung all this power? I wouldnt advise even trying too, the SJB is very reactive to changes and could cause a lot bigger issues. Buy better speakers would be the easiest way to make things louder..
My husband attempted to install the same stereo model into my 2006 Zephyr. I have the THX with nav stereo system and when he installed, he got no sound. I saw in the comments that you recommended trying the PAC RP4-FD11 Wiring harness. Does this also include the antenna adapter?
Was the backup camera too low since the license plate is pretty low on the MKZ? I'd like to do a license plate install since they are easier, but I'm worried it will be too low to the ground to be useful.
I went to best buy to purchase the wiring harness for my 2007 lincoln mkz and they told me that the metra 70-5521 will not work for my car. I was told i need metra XSVI-5521-NAV. My car is a base model without thx sound and now I'm at a standstill with hooking the stereo up because I don't want to get everything taken apart to find out the harness doesnt work. Do you know anything about this?
Depends on if you had the factory nav before or not. If you radio is similar to the video, no bracket will fit, hence why we used the factory bracket. and used a blank to fill the gap.
I have an 07 MKZ with THX / Nav. The 3 wiring harness' that i took off the factory radio, I know i use the main one bit what else? Cause i have lights and touch screen works just no sound.
I have yet another question. I have an older head unit without an aux plugin. it does have a USB terminal on the back tho. if I hook up an aux cord to this will it work? or what about a USB to aux adapter?
I have a question. Well here it goes I was tryna to jump start my 2007 Lincoln MKZ and accidentally put the jumper cables on wrong. My stereo won't work now. I changed the fuse but it's still not working. What should I do?
Check to ensure the radio is getting both a constant power (yellow) wire and switched power from the ignition (red wire). If it is, check the fuse on the radio itself. If it is good, the radio has gone bad. Go from there.
@@PRIMOTHADEITY Unless you get a T harness, no, it won't be plug and play. You will need to splice into the speaker output behind the radio to install the line out converter.
This vehicle did not have the THX sound system. If you have the factory amp, this kit keeps the factory amp working and steering wheel controls: PAC RP4-FD11 Wiring Interface. I have also heard that the Metra 70-5520 will still work, even on amplified vehicles, but i can't verify.
Hi, I have a lincoln mkx 07 with THX 14 speaker system. Is it worth changing the head unit for sound quality? and so i can tune by subs? I'm replacng with a SONY xav 64bt. Thanks!
It is up to you, you may get a better sound quality by replacing the radio with more EQ options. If you don't replace the radio, you can still ad an audio processor for more EQ options as well.
I have a 2006 Lincoln zephyr I have the correct wiring harness I hooked everything up but have no sound it has a THX system so I bought the adapter that has two and there's still no sound idk if I'm hooking something up wrong please help
The smaller adapter includes a blue/white wire. This will need to be wired to your new radio to trigger your factory THX amp to turn on . In addition, you may actually need the PAC RP4-FD11 Wiring harness. www.amazon.com/PACRP4FD11-All---One-Replacement-Interface/dp/B007STCFPO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471984850&sr=8-1&keywords=PAC+RP4-FD11+Wiring+Interface

If it's the stock radio you're trying to put in the 2007 from the 2008, then it will most likely not fit. This is because the wiring for the NAV model is different than the non-NAV model. And even if you were able to find a harness to connect the two, the NAV radio would require components that the non-NAV vehicle itself does not have. However, if you want to put an aftermarket NAV receiver (head unit, radio, etc.) in the 2007, you would simply need a harness to connect to the stock radio connector and you're all good to go. I would recommend the BHA5800 from PAC Audio if you want to go that route, and the SWI-CP2 if you have steering wheel controls and want to keep them. Hopefully this answered your question and good luck with your projects!
Find the factory amplifier, remove it, and fuse that factory wiring output to the speakers to connect your 4 channel amp. Or, if that is too complicated, install your new amp and just run new speaker wire to each speaker.
Which incorrect kit came with that order from sonic electronix? Can you provide a model number or something for the wrong kit, to make sure they didnt send me the wrong one as well please. I see this video was posted a couple years ago hopefully they have the correct kits not for the 07-09 MKZ. Even if they havent by now can you still provide the info to the incorrect kit please?
My son tried installing the same exact stereo in my 07 Lincoln mkz. It powered on but there isn't any sound. My car already has a built in amp. We purchased the Metra harness for the car. Maybe we have the wires connected wrong? When we put the factory stereo back in the speakers work. Please help!!
Your factory amplifier is not turning on correctly. What harness adapter are you using? The one i recommend for the THX Amplified system is the PAC C2R-FRD1 Wiring Interface.
There typically isn't a harness to retain that AUX input, you will lose that functionality. Unless you are open to manually wiring it, you can use the adapter in the video instead.

Was the backup camera too low since the license plate is pretty low on the MKZ? I'd like to do a license plate install since they are easier, but I'm worried it will be too low to the ground to be useful.
Its adjustable, so you can dial in how low or high the camera points.

This version in the video was the basic model and the Metra70-5521 worked just fine. Sometimes those at best buy aren't the brightest bunch.
what brand of mounting bracket did you use? I have a 2008 MKZ and can not find a kit for a double after market radio

Every stereo is different, that would be a question to research through the manufacture. I wouldn't be able to confirm that.
I have a 2008 MKZ with navigation but w/o THX. The rear deck has the factory cut out for 3 speakers. Is this for two 6x9 and one 4"?
Correct. If you had the THX sound system, they would be occupied with speakers that are connected to the THX amp
I have a question. Well here it goes I was tryna to jump start my 2007 Lincoln MKZ and accidentally put the jumper cables on wrong. My stereo won't work now. I changed the fuse but it's still not working. What should I do?

Thanks man! Used this video to put in a double din radio. Unfortunately I got the wrong bracket as well and have a gap. It's okay tho lol .
Okay but do I need to have an aftermarket stereo to wire in an amp and subs or does the stock radio have hookups for an amp
99% of factory radio's on the market will not have a RCA preouts, so you will need a line out converter.

No, you really get what you pay for. All depends on the processor and yes, you can most likely find a radio for cheaper.
