  • In this video, I show you a piece of art that I painted that was inspired by ‪@BettyFranksArt‬ . She has a wonderful book called "Fields of Flowers". She also teaches classes that are full of great tips and inspiration on how to paint abstract colourful art on paper. I show some unfinished works on paper that I paint over with acrylic paint. I talk about what inspires me in the moment and we wrap up the video with my process of covering up areas of the piece that I don't love , and find ways to explore what I do love in my work.
    Supplies I've mentioned:
    Mat Shop Canada :
for "mat kits" which include a mat, one piece of foam core, and a crystal clear bag.
    Princeton #12 watercolour brush
    Masterson hand stay wet palette
    Master's brush cleaner
Canson XL 140lb mixed media/watercolour paper
Canson XL 90 lb paper for collage.
Liquetex GLOSS gel medium for my collage glue
Golden paints- Iridescent fine copper, Holbein paints, Artist loft white paint (Micheal's).
    Decoart paints in Melon.
Golden fluid acrylic paints (Green gold, Payne's Grey and Carbon black)
Princeton round number 10, flat and angled brushes
mark making tools such as a pen
Neocolour Caran D'ache crayons in Wax (number 1) and Watersoluble (2).
    Stabilio "woody" wax coloured crayons
    pencil
    Artist mentions:
    Betty Krause Art
    "Fields of Flowers" book
Artist trading card from Netherlands artist, France Linder
    "Frali-Art"

    🌬🎨 Hi Alison😊
Love your channel. I do a lot of what you do. Love it all. When I started out on TH-cam my original plans were to share my art. I'm Not a Teacher 😊 But if I can inspire anyone to do art of any style then that makes me happy. Sorry i got off track 😂 then my world turned upside down so I documented my Lung CANCER journey and spreading AWARENESS. I just opened up another channel all art related. It's hard doing art and filming 😊 I remember you saying that and how true it is. Hope you are your family are having a Beautiful day/night. Stay Creative/ Together 🎨👍

Hi! wow, you have had quite a journey with your health … i’m sorry you’ve had to go through cancer diagnosis, but how incredible you are to document and spread awareness to help others. I hope you are doing well and in remission. feel free to send me your socials or channel and I’d love to check it out.
      xx

Hi Allison! I'm a new subscriber from Northern Ontario Near Muskokas and I'm a new watercolour painter. You give so much inspiration and give such great perspective on how to approach painting with "just try and see" or "take a step back and revisit"
I too overwork/overthink and finding you on you tube is such a great help in finding my own joy in painting.
Thanks for your un-edited work as its authentic work is so fun to connect and feel like it's ok to just have fun.
Thanks Allison for your effort and your work I really beautiful!

Oh, I'm so glad to hear you have discovered watercolours and that I have been able to provide some inspiration/ support during your beginner process.. I think you will love it as much as I do if you can keep reminding yourself of those things- just playful exploration with no pressures and no judgement. Thanks Sue

Good Morning Allison i have been binge watching your videos and painting in between. It’s funny I told my daughter that I wanted to be sure to do some other things besides art over the holiday. I love How I have finally found a positive addiction LOL . Perhaps I should say obsession either way it’s so much fun. You inspire me so much . I just love how your videos are so intuitive just like your art. I’d love to one day do videos intuitively. I think maybe then it would feel less intimidating. :)

I think that’s so cool i would love to be a part of something like that artist trading cards. Getting to share art would be so much fun. Im trying to figure out something like that do do with my 5th graders maybe on index cards with another school far away ? . I love the lace on your art with the stitching . I know nothing about a sewing machine .

That paint palette is something I need ! About how many days will it keep your paints from drying out. I never knew this existed.

Loving the TH-cam channel! Can you tell me more about the works on paper? What kind of paper are you using specifically? Do you prepare the paper with gesso? I’ve been trying to create on firm surfaces but when it comes to framing all of those it ends up taking a ton of space… even storing the canvases and birch panels ends up filling my space before they are made. I love the idea of works on paper! Do you find that it impacts the sell ability of the pieces? (Not that i sell anything really) but does it affect the price as well?

    • @allisondawrant
      @allisondawrant  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Great questions. I try to link what papers I’m using in the description of the video. I like using 140 lb paper (Canson XL is good), or Bristol paper for acrylic painting. I don’t use gesso for paper prep but every now and then I do to compare. I have art racks to store art on paper/board- they become decorative that way in my home.
Art on paper sells well and I use pricing formulas for different substrates.

I am new to your channel and style. I really love everything except the white 'resting area'. It.... jolts me, unsettles me. I would love to see the finished piece to see if I change my mind. I'm a new subscriber for sure! and look forward to going back over your videos to gain a deeper appreciation for the white space.
