  • In this episode we embark on a 100 baht (app. $3.00 USD) challenge where we see if 2 people are able to eat breakfast lunch and dinner for a total cost of only about 100 baht. The rules are simple, food only, beverages are not included, nor are food prep items such as seasoning, cooking oil etc. Come along to see if we can make 3 square meals on the cheap as many people are doing right now in Thailand. Enjoy the Ride!

Hi There. Man I really love your videos. I,m a 84 year old guy living in Mountain View, Ca. I was married, for 45 years, to a really beautiful Japanese lady who I actually worked for as a young airman in air force. She died from cancer in 2002. I love most of everything in far east, especially of course Japan and now, thanks to you, Thailand!! Keep them coming, OK??

@@daddytubewatches Hi There. Boy o boy how I envy you being able to live there for such a long time. I actually pulled two Air Force tours of 41/2 years each at Shiroi Air Base, Chiba Ken and Fuchu AB Tokyo. My wife Mitzie's older sister and brother in law offered us to take my discharge in Japan and they would give me a job in their factory in Chiba Ken. I almost took them up on that but worried that my 4 children would have to attend either Japanese Schooling or go to the American School in downtown Tokyo and I really wanted them to have a U.S. schooling behind them. I'm living in Mountain View, California (Home of Silicon Valley) with all my kids, grandkids and greatgrand kids all living not too far away. At the ripe old age of 841/2 years I still work at ACE hardware in charge of Plumbing and Electrical Sections.

Great idea for a video. It debunks the idea that it is always cheaper to eat from food stalls. This is also how Thai people eat, cook more than you need and then either eat again or feed other family members or friends that pop by. Another reason I love Thailand.

Now I’m doing OMAD it’s One Meal a Day diet and I’m trying to loose 30kg of my extra weight that I gained here in east Asia in past 14 month that I live here and most of the time it cost me around 1-3 dollars per day to eat healthy now when I say healthy I don’t mean just veggies yes I eat chicken, beef, fish and all sorts of veggies with that and I think more of us Canadian and American man must try this OMAD diet or otherwise called intermittent fasting 23:1 which means your only eat for one hour a day and rest you fast with water,Coffey and other drinks like electrolytes. I’ve lost 9kg so far in lockdown time and this much closer to my goal only 21 more to go.
The reason I told my story is because of your success on loosing lots of weight as well brother and I know you’ll be glad to know that you inspired someone like me to do it! Thanks a lot!

Really enjoyed your vid. Loved your evening ride along the beach. Your 100baht budget meal is pretty awesome. I think all dishes looks good. I would use shrimp paste with morning glory though. Not sure if you can stand it. Hahaha. I would probably do that 3 days in a week and have a feast during the weekend. Make the week a bit more interesting. Can save money and something to look forward too. Vee will probably have a long face for 3 days straight. 😂 Cheers and look forward for your next vid. Take care.

  • @craigross341

Rule 1 to save money. Cook your own starch. 5 baht of rice is 250g, or 825kcal. 8 baht of noodles is about the same. So a rice cooker, or a kettle, is vital. 85 baht buys 5kg of good rice. That's 17,500 kcals. That, through a rice cooker, is how Thais hit their macros.
The absolute balanced cheap option is bananas in the morning, two packets of ramen at lunch, and 1000 kcals of rice with a little bit of chicken/pork and a load of greens and some chilli sauce at night. I think I could do it for 50B, but if you need 3,000 kcals it involves eating a lot of starch.

@@Stephen-Steven-Stephens I - a peasant! - just microwave a load of chicken breasts and just chuck them in cooked to the rice with a bag of street curry. There's a whole load of stuff on rice cooker cooking on youtube. I'm always worried about fluid bubbling over, shorting the rice cooker and blowing the lights (which I did once).

I chop up that herb bundle to make home made salsa with tomatoes I also get at the market (plus some fresh lime juice). Serve up with dipping fritos for the ladies when they come to visit.
Some of the best food I ever had was home cooking by my Thai girlfriend or her sister, although my son makes a mean Thai chicken basil (we grow our own Thai basil and hot peppers) here in the US.
I once asked an authentic Thai restaurant owner about morning glory (here in the US), - she said it doesn't last long, so too much trouble keeping it as many customers never had before and probably wouldn't order. It is also called Chinese watercress here and I did find a restaurant that serves it only too far from my home, so haven't had yet.

glad to see a channel with ''normal''content
Thailand is much more than a paradise for single man.
i know for a fact that life in thailand can be cheap and very interesting.
you can even stay in for example koh chang for less than 20.000 bath a month (600 euro/dollar) if you want.
people than say tha is not a normal lifestyle.....
hmmm, i dont drink at home, dont go to bars every day, dont chase girls, dont eat fancy steak.
With my day to day lifestyle i would easely be comfertable with 20.000 Bath.

If all you do is read, surf the web, go to the gym, eat at home and mooch about the parks there's no reason why you can't live as cheaply as the Thais do. If a Sergeant Major in the Thai cops makes 15,000, you can probably live on 15,000. I have!
