But my is it changing now! Conversations are being had, support groups, websites, people are choosing to educate themselves about how a female body works. It's taken a long time but I am so happy we are finally getting there.
I think there's another factor within this that doesn't really get spoken about - s*xual empowerment carries over into everyday life. When you're satisfied and encouraged to exercise that part of you it can give you an amazing strength and confidence

I first saw this talk a couple of years again and was pleased to see it pop up for me again. It's such a refreshing talk, very different to the normal TEDx I see.
It's not just about orgasms though, a s3xual encounter can go from unfulfilling all the way to disqusting and more often than not it's the woman who is left feeling disqusted.
The plethora of studies done on such topics all come to similar conclusions - the lack of education has seriously hindered us in so many facets of society. It's not just about equality, but equity! And MUTUAL RESPECT! Laurie is an absolute champ!
This is such an interesting talk! The 'why is this happening' part especially. I definitely agree with what she says about the images we see in media have sort of warped the concept of what we think it should be, but I think the problem started a loooong time before.
She raises some really good points about how this has happened, and I think talking openly and having healthy conversations around it would definitely help this revolution along the way!
Ughhh this is so tough. I think unless your first sxual relationship happens to be with someone that you're completely comfortable with and able to freely express what you like you end up accepting sub-par s-x as standard and it can be a long time before you experience something different and are even aware of how incredible it can be

This really sheds light on the importance of understanding and addressing the "O" gap. It's time we strive for equal pleasure and satisfaction in our intimate encounters!
I've always valued a woman's pleasure over my own, but one can only ask so many times "is this okay", "do you like this" or "where do you like to be touched" and receive the same response of "that's fine" "whatever you do is fine" when clearly it's not enough! OPEN COMMUNICATION ALL THE WAY
I think if you have to ask "is this okay?" "do you like this?" and aren't getting a proper response then maybe you haven't developed enough trust with your partner to be intimate in that way to begin with.
This sounds awful. If you have to constantly ask those questions instead of knowing based on how her body is responding, her facial expressions and noises etc then... maybe you don't really know how to get the job done right. Ask for more guidance instead of responses to what you're doing if that makes sense?
