I really like how relaxed and comfortable people in these fields are with topics like sex, and I mean this is how everybody should be. It doesn't make sense to feel bad about it or guilty, everybody does it, people in the past did, it people in the future will continue to do it so? I think that the problem here is that she separates the act of masturbation from pornography. For men, rarely does one come without the other. The damaging effects of pornography and the addictive nature of it can have an impact on psychological health and intimacy in relationships.

This is such a wonderful speech on a very serious topic within current society with intelligent humors, and it contains a lot of facts as well. I am a big believer in communication and trust are key to successfully relationships (particularly sexuality part of the relationship) , and masturbation can really help in those two areas, because if you don't know your own body, your own sexual pleasure, then how would you expect anyone else to know better than yourself. Only when you know yourself well enough, you can guide your partners and communicate clearly with your partner to allow him/her to give you pleasure, and trust in him/her to allow you to receive great pleasure.

Well said. She amazed me of how she delivered her message effectively. The way talk was calm and smooth. Her visual presentation was a good way to present her ideas coherently. The way she moves and the way she uses her hands were also a good way to convey every points of her message. Overall, her communication skills were pretty impressive and if I would to rate her speech then it would be 9/10.

Masturbation is good and even healthy but chronic porn use as a means to masturbate can be hugely detrimental to overall mental health and lead to erectile dysfunction. I think she hurt her presentation not to underline or even address that point especially since, for most men, porn and masturbation goes hand in hand... no pun intended.

+humanyoda Just a guess because I'm not who you are questioning, but I'd say a decrease in libido would be hugely beneficial for men because we do some really stupid things and make some really terrible decisions based on attraction. We settle for the wrong woman, we quit great careers to move to be with someone who isn't right for us. The list is pretty extensive. There's a reason for the saying "you used the wrong head" in decision making.

Watch the whole video or another Ted talk about porn. It is pornography that has this effect not masturbation. Why do you think such a large majority of men watch porn? Because... I tried not masturbating for 3 months. Hated every minute. Totally pointless. I can agree with the porn, though. I haven't watched porn in a long time and am better off for it.
