Kenya’s coastal and marine environment is endowed with rich natural resources. With more than 2,000 fish species and millions of specimens, market research on the global demand for ornamental fish is projected to reach $6.8 billion in the next five years.
This is the demand that Kenya Tropical Sealife EPZ Limited, an exporter of tropical marine fish under the EPZ Program continues to tap into.
Mr. Rene Jorgensen, the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the EPZ enterprise located in Kilifi County explains that ornamental fish are aquatic creatures that are bred or sold for their beauty or unusual features mainly for leisure even though some are for human consumption.
These creatures are characterized with beauty or unusual qualities hence the reason many are used for recreation purposes.
