Thats how SalC1's base wasn't griefed until recently. He's shown the terrain in many videos but everyone assumed that the base was already griefed and didn't bother. It wasn't until someone accidentally stumbled apon it when it was finally griefed.
I would have placed some small scale tnt traps. Not to cause damage, but to freak the crap out of people, when in their secret base suddenly is a trap.

Of all the people I've heard of from these kinds of videos, I must say that this guy seems to have one of the noblest goals. He's simply here to sightsee. I respect that.
And there I was thinking that I was being paranoid, building a base as far out as I did. But it’s not paranoia if they *are* out to get you. It’s beyond the heat map.
I'm amazed how many bases there actually are in such close proximity to spawn. I would be damn sure to travel to 10+ million first before even considering to build a base. Then fly around many thousands of blocks around to prevent new chunk tracing.
Because it’s fun? Building on 2b2t serves as a unique challenge but also has its own feel to it that is separate from what you get on any other server. Of course the base gets griefed eventually but you go into it knowing that. My build group literally has a creative server that has a replica of what’s on 2b. If we wanted to just do creative building I’m sure we could but where’s the fun in leaving something on a hard drive to fall into obscurity.
