full cut prog reaction :) to an iconic LIVE performance :) Pink Floyd is a very special band to my Dad so i'm feeling very thankful to be blessed with this music!!
have a look on TH-cam at BLACK METAL TEENS REACT TO PINK FLOYD
Think ya might have to do some editing. Video already seems to be blocked in the UK :(
You are blessed stick with it because they have a massive catalogue of music by the floyd enjoy.👍☺☺
Should go watch the whole movie "Live In Pompeii"
And, listen to Meddle L.P. in full ✌
.
Oh... and Meddle is probably my favourite Pink Floyd L.P...
.
nicks drumming on this track is just perfection
And he had a cool mustache as well at that time.
Mason is the star og the whole pompeii concert
AND richard's keybord of course
Everything about this track is perfect
I'd have to say that David's rock-steady bass playing on the studio version is better.
It's cool seeing a young person so excited to listen to the classics...
It isn't weird... music today is a shit
I've only recently turned 20, and about half a year ago I simply fell in love with PF's entire discography lol. Fibs G-G is right too
and here Ladies & Gentlemen is not someone LISTENING to music, but someone FEELING music !
This is my favorite era of Floyd. Saucer Full of Secrets. Animals. Dark Side of the Moon. Just absolute bangers. RIP Richard Wright.
Have you checked out Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets?
fav is probably animals, but love the wall, dsotm, obscured by clouds and meddle
@Spaceman_Mike sup
@Spaceman_Mike No offense to tin, but you should really think about upgrading to some better materials. Otherwise re-entry might be a bit...melty and explodey.
Happy trails!
You should be thanking Roger Waters...
This entire performance is truly epic. They were at their peak as band.
They were at A peak it's true. However, DSOTM and Wish you Were Here were still to come!
All of Pink Floyd is super talented, but David Gilmore is just amazing. Doesn't play flashy stuff, but he always hits the most satisfying notes in with immaculate bends and vibratos. It's the like guitar is an extension of his soul haha. Gotta love it.
He also really really good at slide guitar. I'd suggest checking out "One of These Days" from Pulse Live 1994. Really cool instrumental.
The live performance of this song from Gdansk is unbelievably good. Rick Wright's final performance.
cudo
OMG nobody cares
Gdansk version will always be my go-to! David's solo is phenomenal and RIP Richard 😢
as far as I know, their performance here is the first performance at this ampitheater since the volcano blew off at mt vesuvius in 79AD.
its very fitting.
Im 57 and this is one song i never gave a chance as a kid .When i started watching reaction videos a few years ago i found these great songs i missed . One prog band i never got in to was Old Genesis and i now realize they were amazing Try Suppers Ready the album version i promise you it will blow you away it has now become one of my favs Keep rocking these song will stay with you forever
i can't wait to listen to some Genesis on my channel! many more prog bands to come
@@kirawasareactor I second, Genesis (Supper's Ready) the album version. 23 minutes of perfection.
One of the big differences between Echoes and Supper's Ready;
For a 23:27 minute song, Echoes contains only 193 words of lyrics.
For a 22:53 minute song, Supper's Ready contains a total of 952 words of lyrics.
Mam 58 lat .Gdy ponad 30 lat temu usłyszałem Echo ,nie mogłem pojąć że muzycy mogą zagrać coś takiego . Euforia wciąż trwa. Serdecznie pozdrawiam.
I agree about Peter Gabriel Genesis there's some great stuff there.
I love David's voice, and his solo albums are great too. I think his voice got even better with age.
40 years ago I was your age and first discovered Floyd. I'm glad you've discovered them, too.
I heart your dad. The man has impeccable taste in music. This is easily one of the most cherished DVDs I own. There was a period in college when I watched it at least once a day. I was just getting into playing lead stuff at the time and I was stalking Gilmour's tone.
And if Krom don't like it, DA'HELL WITH IT!
I typically do not like live performances, but there is nothing 'typical' about Pink Floyd!
If you could react to "A Saucerful of Secrets" from their same performance at Pompeii it would be very cool. It's the more raw act from this set. It blew my mind the first time I listened to.
Most psychedelic song ever
Listen to the live version it is better , ummagumma album - pink Floyd .
KIRA, IF YOU REACT TO THIS SONG, IGNORE THE OTHER COMMENTS, MAKE SURE YOU LISTEN TO THE 9 MINUTE VERSION FROM POMPEII ON TH-cam. NOT THE 4-5 MIN BECAUSE THATS NOT THE FULL TRACK. thanks
You have to listen to part 2!
Part 1 and part 2 are a one song on the album!
BTW the whole Pompeii show is pure gold!
Good to know that there's young people feeling the same way I did when I first heard this back in the 70s!
70s were so much better maybe thats why :D
so true I was a kid when this first came out now I'm in my late 50s I think their music is timeless
"Dave was brilliant at double-tracking vocals...." - Richard Wright(the keyboard player). Not only does Gilmore "double track" his own vocals, but they mix perfectly with Rick's voice, as well. As they evolved, Roger Waters got a bit of an ego, and it's a damned shame. Had they stayed with the "Roger writes the lyrics while Dave and Rick come up with the music".... we can only imagine what they'd have done. Pink Floyd was greater than the sum of their parts, and they all knew it.
The documentary, "Which One is Pink" is something you should watch. It really tells how they got together, how Syd Barrett lost his mind, how David Gilmore became part of the band, and how they kept going with Syd's memory, and how much success they had because of it. I highly recommend it.
His name is GILMOUR not Gilmore. David and Richard used to swap lead vocal roles and at times people couldn't tell the difference.
i agree, what would have happened if roger had stayed , doubtful if the division bell album would have come about though which is a really good album.
Roger is is an old angry political duffer now. He’s a bit of an embarrassment to the memory of the band
You do know that Roger Waters made demos for every song he wrote right???? Basically making 80% of the song before going in the studio...
You're right; they're in the ancient amphitheater in Pompeii in southern Italy, where the volcano Vesuvius destroyed the city in 79 AD, playing for the ghosts. This was a musical conversation between David and Rick Wright; after Rick's passing David never played it again.
watch pink floyd live in the pulse concert recommendations are great gig in the sky, comfortably numb and run like hell they will blow you away and i was there to witness the best band ever
The Band were in a smooth groove & the setting provided a perfect echo chamber. Awesome 👌 🎸 & 🥁. One of their best songs.
yes the setting is absolutely stunning!
Damn, Kira! I was enthralled watching the way you vibed with this!
I remember going to see this film when it was premiered in London. It's good to see that it is still enjoyed today.
A 59 year old in Scotland, loving it here, so much memories of hearing the album playing from my big sisters bedroom. As great today as it sounded then.
Pink Floyd are just a phenomenal band tight as f*ck! Brilliant reaction video.
This is a masterpiece!! So glad you listened to it!
I really love watching your reactions. It’s nice seeing someone who is so emotionally invested in the music!
Wonderful to see a youngster absorb the sublime beauty of this work of art. I literally listen to this version of the song * every * single * day! Its it medicine for my soul.
This is my favourite song. Your dad has great taste :)
As a retired musician old enough to be your Grandpa it's lovely to see someone your age rocking to the same tunes I did when I was young and cool. I promise I was cool. You're cool too.
Pink Floyd is my all time favorite band in the world, that being said I’m sorry…. David is my favorite!!! He’s gorgeous and so is his voice. Such a talented band. Love your reaction. This is the greatest song and the greatest version ever 💚 I get chills every single time they play. David’s playing is my ultimate comfort.
Thanks so much for this reaction. By any measure this performance is exceptional. Don't forget to listen to the album version too, the transition to the funky section hits even harder.
Kudos to you young lady!! You "get" Pink Floyd. Keep on expanding your musical horizons.
Amazing perfomance by the Pink floyd , man!
Pink Floyd IS The Greatest Band Ever and Dark Side of the Moon is the Greatest album ever recorded, it's a masterpiece. I've seen Pink Floyd three times, the first was The Wall at the LA Sports Arena, 2/7/1980 in "Quadraphonic Sound". The Second two times was the Pulse tour at the Rose Bowl 4/17/1994 and 4/18. I've seen Roger on his solo tours four times and Dave on five of his. I've seen the Aussie Floyd seven times and been blessed to be able afford seats in the first 20 rows for all of shows mentioned. @
In many parts this emotional piece is a “requiem”. The director and producer had chosen that specific location after finding himself alone in that amphitheater. (He had lost the wallet while on a trip with his fiance and a group of tourists in Italy and returned to look for it. It was almost sunset and he was very impressed by the silence and strange atmosphere. The echoes he noticed turned his mind to the Pink Floyd song.)
His emotions were enhanced by knowing the following facts:
On August 24, year 79, the silence in the Gulf of Naples was interrupted by the violent eruption of Mount Vesuvius. In 48 hours, during the eruption, thousands of people died and several cities were destroyed, two of them completely buried under the ashes : Pompeii and Herculaneum.
20,000 people lived in Pompeii, and the city had a thriving economy, supported by merchants, local producers and farmers.
The eruption of 79 was preceded by a strong earthquake, which occurred in February 62, and a smaller one, in 64. According to Pliny the Younger, the Romans were not alarmed by the earthquakes in the area, they took place quite frequently. Therefore, when, starting with August 20, 79, a series of small earthquakes shakes the region, the locals do not panic. The volcano was still quiet.
On August 24, around noon, Mount Vesuvius exploded, propelling a cloud of ash into the atmosphere. In the next 12 hours, tons of ash and volcanic material fell on the city of Pompeii.
Most of the inhabitants took refuge from the disaster, but about 2,000 people stayed behind, hidden in cellars or stone structures, hoping to be safe. The wind direction protected Herculaneum from the initial phase of the eruption, but eventually the city was covered by a toxic cloud of ash, followed by a deadly wave of pyroclastic flow. The inhabitants of Pompeii survived the first day of the eruption, but died on August 25, when a cloud of toxic gas flooded the city, suffocating the remaining.
The cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum were buried under a few meters of ash and volcanic material. With the passage of time, they were forgotten, being rediscovered only in the eighteenth century, when a marble statue was unearthed at the Herculaneum, following excavations. In 1748, a farmer discovered traces of ancient Pompeii on the land of his vineyard. Since then, excavations have continued almost uninterrupted to this day.
Currently, Mount Vesuvius is the only active volcano on the European continent. It last erupted in 1944, but the last major eruption took place in 1631. Specialists expect the mountain to erupt again in the relatively near future. This time, however, about 700,000 people are in danger.
the location this was filmed, was the arena of ancient pompei...those sculpters and freezies you see around the arena, ...actually witnessed gladiators fight to the death...over 2,000 years ago...pink floyd played homage to the memory of past eons, ...so when you see those faces keep showing in the video..just remember the venue pink floyd played in here....thousands and thousands of long dead peoples...listening through the ageless stone!!!
When you have lyrics like....
"The echoe of a distant time comes willowing across the sand"
you know its something other worldly 😉
My dad would play this so much during my childhood, at home during quiet evenings. I am very thankful for him, for introducing me to quality music. We even watched their vlog collection off a DVD, and a documentary, together. This song, in particular, always impressed me with the sound, even without understanding exactly what they were saying :D This young David was, I believe, my childhood crush at one point lol
Hi Kira, I love your video. Very moving song to me as well. Had fun watching it with you!
thank you Victor for your support always!
I came here for the reaction of Echoes and the first thing that I saw was your shirt by Interpol, one of my favorite bands. That's what I said is a good taste.
no green screen used! they actually used an old projection system, it has huge and so old fashioned for our standards! great reaction!
I must say I thoroughly enjoy your lovely reaction to this timeless piece!
This is my favorite version of my favorite song from my favorite band!
You got all of it!!!!!!!!!
What a delight watching your enjoyment of this masterpiece!
Dad knows best :) xx full respect
They played funky long time before funk was invented ! And this melody here is long before "Phantom at the Opera" !
i love watching people react to awesome music for the first time.
as a very long time floyd fan, it still holds up against anything else done today, just image that's approximate 50 yrs ago when they made it. so many influenced by it and their music all around the world. a love of their music and not their public ego, expression with feel and all members participating equally. just amazing to look back on when there was zero digital in any aspect of this.
I’ve introduced my teenage son to Pink Floyd and he also loves them. Good work on appreciating this amazing band.
You get it, and for that I thank you.
All the best bands were British. Glad to see you agree.❤❤❤👍👍👍👏👏👏
So glad you're taking the time to listen to the sounds from when Rock-n-Roll was forming. Music performed by
Scenes in that video were statues in Pompeii and from Pompeii’s surroundings (Campi Flegrei, Vesuvio and so on)
Late to this reaction, but Pompeii has pleasantly haunted much of my life at different times. Wonderful reaction. Very glad to see this performance resonate with you.
I remember an interview with David Gilmour where he said that Echoes was a defining song in giving the band the style of music they wanted to pursue....or something along those lines....
Your obvious joy at watching this is so great to watch. Pink Floyd will live forever.
Lindo ver todos os instrumentos bem ouvidos e separados em cada parte. Incrível a banda.
Loved live in Pompeii.
God when Roger kicks in the bass, Gilmour screaming those strings, Nick the Animal on drums, and beautiful Rick filling the music w) keyboards.
Live at Pompeii is a magnificent film.
I absolutely enjoyed your enthusiasm for the song. 😊❤
Wonderful reaction from one so young. So glad to know that the music from my youth is still appreciated. Thanks and take care.
One of the greatest concerts ever and it was played to an empty audience. Imagine being there for this.
I think that's primarily Rick Wright's voice that you hear. David Gilmour is doing the harmonizing on this particular track. It's one of only a handful of Floyd songs where Wright does lead vocals.
Echoes sure is a gem. Can't get enough of it!
This was filmed live in the amphitheater at Pompeii (no crowd, just crew) for release in cinema’s in U.K.
Pompeii was a Roman town near what is now Naples on the coast of Italy. In AD 79 the nearby volcano Mt Vesuvius erupted and completely buried Pompeii and Herculaneum under 15 metres of volcanic rock/ash. It was forgotten about until accidentally discovered about 150 years ago, and has since been excavated.
I was 14 when this was filmed in about 1972 and I went to see it at the cinema at the time ( I’m 63 now) it was a Sunday night showing just one night only….
I was mesmerised and still love it to this day, ( it’s still available on DVD from Amazon !) Meddle is my favourite Pink Floyd album.
I have visited Pompeii and Herculaneum recently and even climbed Vesuvius and peered in ! It’s fascinating and well worth the visit. Two Roman towns completely preserved for 2000 years under volcanic rock and now excavated so you see it as it was the day of the eruption in AD 79
So much fun watching your authentic response and how much you enjoy the music. big like.
My all time favorite band of all time. Listen to animals always
I couldn't help but notice a big grin on your face when young David made his appearance 💖
Welcome to the Pink Floyd world
one of the best live perfomances ever to be captured on tape
I've lost count of the times I've heard this song and it's always very good
i live for that slow zoom in
I suggest listening to the studio version of Echoes from the Meddle album (1971), followed by the live performance of Echoes by David Gilmour and Richard Wright in Gdansk, Poland (2006).
I love Pink Floyd and now.... i love you too 😊
the change of key on this song always get me goosebumps
and the chromatic walking....... oh gosh the tension
OMG I loved this video. Thank you very much. This song became my fav, after an Uber recommended it, he first time I heard it my mind also blowed haha cause it's so incredible, and touch, I don't why this song isn's one of that everyone know. Anyway, I found you by YT recomendation and I totally love it, you gain a subscriber. Sorry for my english, it's not my first language :)
I’m here from the future and Kira your going to make a great video on the big three of grunge and I just wanted to say nice job. 😉
Outstanding!!!!!!!
Whhhhy don't they have this exact version of Echoes on Spotify!?! Aaaaaaah
I love it when younger generations latch onto pink floyd,,im 65 and have been listening to them for 45 yrs and still listen daily,,,seeing how you reacted to echoes may i sudgest you listen to "on the turning away pulse concert" you may shed a slight tear so have a tissue handy,,then listen to "one of these days pulse concert",,,with this track ride the accustic intro its amazing track and the light show is superb,,,,,,enjoy
Great reaction!
Your dad has excellent taste 💜
Vibe time. Could’ve been a bond song.
I came across your video through recommendations and it's so cute to see you react like this, I really recognized myself when I first listened to this masterpiece! The lyrics mean a lot to me, and the whole music is so beautiful and tells a story, and that's why Echoes is my favorite Pink Floyd song now (it's almost as if 23 minutes of this song weren't enough sometimes) :) thank you so much for your enthusiasm it was a pleasure to watch!
i sat in the amphitheatre in Pompeii and watched this on my laptop... surreal Respect & Peace
Tea and Doughnuts for this, back in a minute.......OK you can start now.
Thank you!
Nice to see an Australian reactor to Pink Floyd and a daughter following in her Dad's footsteps.
Thank for leaving the song complete !
I almost cried when I first watched this video
Fantastic reaction. So exciting that you so totally GOT IT! Please, some Gabriel-era Genesis...
Check out the live concert A Delicate Sound of Thunder. Sooo good.
Like your video one of the few i have seen watch them live on there chanel. Very nice
It was so enjoyable watching someone jam out to Nick's mad skills on the drums... Hell, jamming out to all of them. This entire album is masterpiece after masterpiece ending with "One of These Days"...
Nick Mason looks so cool in this video!
1:42 It made me so happy to see someone acknowledge rogers bass. No one ever really does out of all the reactions ive seen. He really is downplayed as a bassist & needs more recognition. Great reaction Loved it. You should react to another brick in the wall part 2, Live earls court 1980. Great performance, they’re last tour together as a group (well if you exclude their reunion in 2005 lol) But yeah you should really give it a try. Much love.
I want part 2 right now also!!!
best band ever lived kira you're in for a treat going down this rabbit hole
go on with this journey. the way you tick, i would suggest for starters: 1) "shine on you crazy diamond" (studio) and 2) "animals" complete studio album and 3) "comfortably numb" live pulse 1994 :-)
Hey Kira, it's awesome that you are into it. Can't wait for part 2. Meddle is one of my all time favorites. You'll love the whole album/CD. Great reaction Kira!!!!
