It’s horrifying, I can’t even imagine the amount of terror that little girl experienced as she slowly suffocated to death. It’s one of the most painful ways to die. Those people don’t deserve to even exist in this world, and the fact that they got out of jail after only 7 measly years is unbelievable to me. They got to keep their lives while Candace is gone.

16 years for killing a child that couldn't even live until she herself was 16 years old? That's disgusting. Those people who literally tortured a child should have had a life sentence, spending their lives in a dark, dirty prison for taking away another's life. They thought it would work... and that unfortunately puts them in a grey area.
      THEY WERENT EVEN LICENSED!!!
REBIRTHING ISNT EVEN PRACTICED BY THERAPISTS OR PSYCHIATRISTS!!
There’s actually some information left out in the initial story.
Candice was asked, “do you won’t to be rebirthed?”
      She faintly answered “no”
Her adoptive mother, feeling rejected by this, was told to leave the room, “therapists” fearing that Candice would sense her sorrow.
That’s when the therapists called her a quitter.
I think the vomit and excretion should have been the let up. Its usually only supposed to be a breathing exercise... But it was apparently a two week process... gosh my heart hurts so much
A lot of them plead guilty.. which doesn’t make me feel better, just less angry at the adoptive mother and the people that didn’t literally taunt her to die

Coming back to this theory after Matpat announced he’d be leaving, and I really hope that this series gets picked up again at some point. This is definitely one of the most memorable theories of his to me, maybe because of how disturbing it is, that’s it’s based on a true story, that i’ve never seen anything quite like Petscops, or that this series went unfinished. I never fully understood everything in the later theories of this series, but I hold it close to my heart nonetheless. Well, if nothing else, thank you for bringing Petscops to my attention and the first place, and for making these memories for me in the first place.

My sister was this way. She very much considered her bio mom her mom. But unlike Candice's story my mother respected that. She didn't force a mother-daughter relationship on her. On top of that my parents adopted my sister because they knew if they didn't she'd probably never have a normal home life. They wanted to give her that in the hopes it would help and because they knew how broken this system is.

THESE 5 ADULTS IN THE MEDICAL FIELD PERSISTED FOR OVER AN HOUR ON A GIRL THAT WASN'T EVEN 11 YET. This should never have happened and if all was right in the world, they'd all have their medical licenses revoked, they would be serving life sentences without bail and parole, and they would be ostracised and alienated in the public eye. That is not just murder, that is FIRST DEGREE MURDER, these people knew what they were doing could cause asphyxiation, and they held the position for 80 minutes. First degree murder on its own is at least 25 years without parole. This was torture, and there are security cams and even a transcript to prove it. This is a true situation where the legal system failed.

People aren't put into jail to pay for their crimes or it would be easier to kill them. If the country can spend a bit of money teaching them to not do it again and then get resources e.g. (money, food, a bigger workforce) from them being a reliable citizen then the country wins. Not saying it's a good thing but through the eyes of a government who wants a reliable labour force which they have spent money into then it is just Logical to do so.
