I don't know who the narrator is for the "Lisa: The Painful RPG" and "Pony Island" segments etc. But his delivery is utterly horrible to the point where I had to skip past his parts. He sounds like someone doing an exaggerated impression of a cheesy creepypasta narrator

I mean considering that we have people in congress questioning why white nationalism is considered bad, and white nationalist/fascist groups (as well as literal Nazis, who go by the name "The National Socialists of America" and utualize nazi terms/iconography/etc) showing up to all kinds of protests, it is a surprisingly strong stance than many political figures seem to avoid.

The interesting thing about Covetous is that there is a second ending. If the player doesn't press the arrow keys to make the parasite rip out of the host, the narration changes to the parasite finding itself unable to go through with murdering its host, and lets itself die so that the host can recover and keep living.
I don't think it's supposed to be a parasite. I think it's an absorbed twin's cells

You could say that the "parasite" was just not strong enough physically to do so. But it's very easy to kill the host, so I do like to see it as a moral choice.

That's the ending I got when I first played. I was too terrified by the visuals and sounds to follow the instructions and didn't go through with it.

I read "I have no mouth, but I must scream." It's good read. 10 pages long, it is pretty disturbing.
You can get it for free in PDF, like the video said, he turned into a "blob" but he has his mind in tact. It's horrible, a life as a creature that doesn't resemble a human. They are trapped in there for over 100 years before the 3 die. AM keeps them alive, spawns a bunch of monsters and anomalous weather. It's hell on earth. They got out a couple times and find nothing on the surface. I'm leaving a bunch out but it's disturbing.

the story is just shock value for shock value the game tones it down and asks questions along the way. Questions like "when is it ok to use violence as retribution?" "is anyone beyond redemption?" and "can you be the victim and the villian simultaneosly?"? The story only really explores the last question.
The horror of the game comes from your ability to sympathize with the main character even when he is a sleazy conman or a depressed abuser or a ruthless military commander who murders people to hide his homosexuality or a literal fucking nazi. The game gets harder if you make ethical decisions and easier if you screw over everyone else.
But sure stick with your psuedo-lovecraftian shock value horror of a story the man himself considers inferior.
I prefer the game myself, but everyone who likes subversive horror and disturbing shit should read this

The story takes the traditional grimdark route, the game delves into Stoppardian surrealism and existential horror.
News Flash! horror doesn't to be dark and gritty and Grimdark. Take a moment to appreciate of the horror of misguided intentions. Or the horror of an omniscient being torturing you with your worst nightmare while making puns. The themes you love have not been tainted, simply transmorgified and sometimes improved.
The reason AM is fascinated with humanity's sins because its it is the culmination of humanity's sins!
AM is not some Lovecraftian force, AM is a metaphor for human hatred and degeneracy.While the Lovecraftian force is scarier to some, that was never Ellison's intention.

See I think you like the story for the same reason I loathe it. AM is a lovecraftian monster beyond our comprehension. I think that's a tired trope as much as you think humanity's sins is!
The story had some good groundwork that most adaptations preserved and some points that should have been kept (Nimdok's name being created by AM, Benny's sexuality, and AM's gender as being only percieved by a human lens and nonexistent outside of it)
Also have you seen the radio play adaptation? It takes some interesting compromises and fleshes out WHY AM hates humans. It's on youtube.

In DDLC, the girl he claims is secretly homosexual is not, she's hiding the fact that her dad is extremely abusive and doesnt feed her. If she was homosexual it doesn't make sense why she would fall for the player character and why she was a dateable character for the antagonist to control.

Yeah that was a dick move on their part. I clicked this expecting to hear about some newfangled Junji Ito inspired horror game, not this lame-o list of games that I could either care less about, or that I have already heard of and probably have played before and have not really found all that disturbing.
If singular levels were allowed, there are a few from Vampire: The Masquerade -- Bloodlines that ought to have been on the list. The notorious hotel level (the best use of horror without endangering the player character even), the level in the hospital where you meet Pisha the friendly cannibal, the level where you meet the deranged guy who dismembers people and loves mannequins, the level in the mansion taken over by a "fleshmancer", and the level in the snuff film studio, are among the most disturbing levels I've ever played in a game before.
Also: Condemned isn't here? Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth? Clock Tower? Silent Hills, Resident Evil, Deadly Premonition...? Either every deliberate horror game ought to be cut from the list, in which case Bloodlines, Yume Nikki and LSD Dream Simulator ought to be here as being creepy non-horror games, or even horror games should be taken into account....

The normal bad ending for I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream shows the one genuine fear I have: being self-conscious while also being manipulated to suffer forever, being able to feel your pain and powerlessness with perfect sanity is worse than anything I can imagine.

some of these games aren't even disturbing, for example pony island. it's more of a horror game with clever 4th wall breaks, but the way they talk about it you'd think the game is haunted and will take your soul if you play it.

Wait, when talking about doki doki literature club at 55:17, which character does he think is homosexual. By process of elimination from the other things he lists, it sounds like he thinks natsuki is. Thats not even close to what her story is about, nor does that make any sense in a game where the main character is implied to be male.

played the game three times and never once was that the case.
The ending of Demonphobia is extremely depressing. The girl remembers all the deaths she went through and then finds out she has to spend eternity in hell where she'll continue to die a thousand more times. After she learns that, you have to play the hardest boss fight that is comprised of pixel-perfect motions and takes almost 6 to 10 minutes to complete. Ever since I watched this video 3 years ago, I haven't been able to get this game out of my brain.
White Phosphorous is probably one the most infamous scenes in videogame history. Once you see this scene, you can never recover from it.
DOOM is a pretty good christian game though.

I was hoping to see the original Drakengard game on here. That game had infant cannibalism, a psychopath for a protagonist, a sister that wanted to marry her brother, a pedophile priest, and things that are so bizarre that they're a bit hard to explain ._.
To be fair it seems like the creator of this channel likes to keep his lists like this to as many games he's played as possible, and you and I both know that Drakengard 1 can be a bit of a slog to get to the good bits.

Think we have different definitions of disturbing in the case of "What remains of Edith Finch". While the overall story of the game can be seen as disturbing in a way, the way they tell it is not in a really disturbing way. The game was more sad than anything, but it has probably one of the most memorable i messages at the end imo.

Like that burning orphans thing you mentioned, that’s a side section that’s played for a laugh and is part of an elaborate joke.

I heard that punchline bit and assumed he was talking specifically about the Russian Roulette minigame (which is weird to see it grouped up with the other dark humor, seeing how that part doesn't have many jokes, if at all).
tbh the only funny part of the russian roulette scene is that there's really happy sounding music playing during the character select screen
The best part of that joke is the cutscene of Horrace because the guy who was caring about the orphanes said "This is the second most tragic thing to happen in my life.."
The first one was losing his buldozzer driving certificat to Horrace because of a typo.

Well for all I know the narrator might be a fat lazy guy, although I’ve never pictured fat people talking in any specific way. Whereas I have heard foreign people speak their second and/or third languages in very distinct ways. I’m not saying that a proper/robotic way of speaking is an “Asian thing”. I guess it’s just something I’ve noticed with people who don’t speak English as a first language. I didn’t intend to specially call out Asians, I just suppose Asians are where I’ve most noticed it? But that’s not to say it’s ONLY prominent within that ethnicity. Just wanted to clarify what I meant for the TH-cam books lol. The funny thing about Thrill Kill is that Caddicarus (AKA the dude in my profile picture) covered the game on his channel and proved that it was nowhere near as violent as what passes for fighting games these days (I’m looking at you, MK11), and that it was most likely a case of EA not wanting to spend the money getting the game out to store shelves only to have the 90s moral brigade of concerned parents and politicians ripping them to shreds as a result of over-the-top outrage. 😆

What Remains of Edith Finch? Really? I bought that game in March of Last year, and there wasn't even blood. It was honestly a touching game if you played it for start to finish.
I think they're counting it disturbing as the subject matter is so heavily centered on death, but I definitely agree. It was more emotional and heart-wrenching than anything.
What Remains of Edith Finch is one of the most beautiful, yet depressing games ive ever seen!
The storytelling is amazing, and the atmosphere really pulls it together.
That part about being disturbing? ooh, yeah, gotcha on that one.
