Would love to see a true LSD put into a 2is with the SC. Would be a great upgrade

Osgiken for sure. I have it in mine and it literally drives like a whole new car. 1650usd was the first expense install was 1700 CAD plus conversion an duties and shipping to Toronto lol.

I bought a used one for my 2012 is350. 72,000 miles. Easy for me to put in. Transmission feels new.
NIiiice Where'd you buy it from? I have a 2006 is350 with 187k miles on it, needs a new transmission.. doesnt go into 5th, had a solenoid replaced but that didnt do the trick

beat on it, it'll handle the power as long as you keep up with the trans oil changes. Once it's pitch black, it's too late. Pretty sure that's what did it to your old trans when you add fresh fluid
True, but my old one was just over the 60k interval. Fluid wasn’t too bad. New stuff should have helped but didn’t. Luckily this one has all fresh fluid!

I think manual mode burns the clutch packs and may have worn out your old ones

Put amsoil signature series atf in! Last time you used OE, signature series is better and 100% synthetic. Toyota/ Lexus WS is a synthetic blend
Yes, I was surprised how cramped new Tacomas are. My sister's family recently got a brand new one. I swear it feels as small as my 350 inside. It felt cheap, too, the door handles and vents and various bits...I was thinking $40k for this? I'd take a used, made in Japan Lexus suv over a new Taco any day.
Exactly, that is why sales of Toyota are hurting. I went to check 2022 models, it felt like a basic 2010 suv, dull cheap plastic, dated big time.

Hi Marty , i need to swap my IS30 tranny ,, i am in canada.. I could only find teh JDM transmissions online.. Did the tranny swap worked ? did you had to do any change on the mounting brackets? or was it a direct swap.. just because some ppl are saying jdm ones wouldn't be a direct swap to the canaddian /us makes ...Please help

It would be also wise when you service to put new transmission fluid and also clean the transmission filter especially that used transmission you bought. Must people do service on their vehicle and only change the oil you also have to service the transmission.
Yup we used a new filter and new trans fluid in this transmission.
Also did that in the trans that blew, which sucks because the fluid and filter weren't cheap.
Also did that in my old IS350. Definitely helps shifts, but sometimes is can cause slipping too.
@@MartyMotoring you don't think the reason why the old trans blew up or whatever was the reason because of the boost? Like the trans could not take the power?
@@purplehills56 No, it was always weak and slipping a bit even before boost. It only got worse. And new fluid couldn’t help it.
This new one is so much more solid
@@MartyMotoring oh ok , I sometimes when serviceing my transmission I use STP high mileage transmission fluid it's recommended to stop slip and leak repair. Says extra protection for manual and automatic transmission over 75k miles.

I had the RR Racing Stage 2 supercharger in it. Fun car. Actually sold it and got an IS F now (V8)

The transfluid was designed for these cars never to be replaced, but from experience, you should replace the fluid every 100k or less. The car shifts like new after getting it done. Lexus embellished their projections with the wear these transmissions take over time.
Damn things should've come with a manual.

Congratulations on your daughter! A life changer. My wife and I just had our first as well. Question: Do you think there would be any benefits to you installing the 3is transmission with the 8 speed instead? I know in the 2is stock form it is quicker 0-60 and quarter mile vs the 3is. But the 3is is definitely faster on a roll and top end. I used to have an 06 IS 350 back in the day. I now have a 2014 IS 350 and a 2008 GS 350. The 3is tranny is so much quicker but not that seat feeling agressive shifts like my 08 GS or 06 IS350. I say all this to say what are your thoughts on dropping in the 8 speed? I planned to supercharge ome of these cars but not sure which one yet.

I have an 06’ is350 do you know if the transmission cooler is on the drivers side or the passenger on the trans, my tranny just went out as well and i’m going your route of used trans
Passenger side. It's not really a cooler...more so an ATF heater that uses coolant.
Passenger side, will look like a waffle and runs all the way up ALONG the firewall to the throttle body. Check Clublexus, tons of threads and diagrams explaining the system.
It is NOT the typical oil cooler, where transmission fluid runs nearby the radiator or along it and back like Toyota. The design is meant to warm up the oil ASAP for efficient shift engagement.

Thanks for providing the knowledge of this whole RR racing supercharger process and being transparent about it but looking at their Google reviews and just what people say about their tunes putting their car in limp mode, this is simply is not it. RR racing probably treated you way better due to the fact that you have a social media presence but I heard they aren't that forgiving to normies.
You could've just went and got an IS-F. Yeah, you might be able to push a bit more horsepower than an ISF (350 whp stock vs supercharged 350 430whp). Throw some bolt ons on the ISF and it will push closer to that 400whp range. The suspension set up is also better on the F and most importantly, you won't be worried about breaking something. You literally said it yourself in this video, you're scared to push it now after all these issues. On top of that, you probably need oil changes more frequently, probably have to do a bit more maintenance of that supercharger.. Making a Lexus unreliable, doesn't make sense.
Hey there! I am not quite sure what you mean about their reviews as they seem to be great everywhere I've seen...that's why I went to them in the first place. There are always those customers that will have bad experiences though, and sometimes it's just lack of knowledge or the Lexus mindset of "nothing can go wrong", but when modifying a vehicle...anything can go wrong. Just kinda the nature of the game. RR does much bigger (and higher paying) builds than mine, so I don't see why they'd treat me any different. I consider myself a normie who happens to make videos. lol.
On the ISF - I agree with you - but that'd be double the price. A clean 2011 ISF is not cheap. I got this very modified 2011 IS350 F Sport for $15k (technically it was a straight up trade for my 4Runner) and made it even better for less than an ISF costs. Still would like an ISF, but that'd be so easy. Supercharging an IS350 was a nice challenge. This does require a little more maintenance and knowledge, but the boost feel and noises are super fun. To each their own!

Hey Marty thanks for sharing, I also installed a used transmission in my lexus is350. but its noisy, the tranny makes a "wheel of fortune" sound after letting go of the gas, i wonder what could it be

Too much power for that gearbox and will fail again,that’s why the ISF will always be better because of the super strong 8 sp gearbox
ISF definitely has a better transmission. Bought one right after I sold this car -Marty

@@dp2475 Sure I can ask them…that mod with the line pressure booster made the car shift a lot faster if you watch some of my later videos…it behaves differently

I’s it true that a jdm transmission won’t work on a United States Lexus Model. ? I have 2006 is 250 rwd the transmission failing sadly. What else do I have to replace when I’m replacing a transmission. And what place/ website is the best place to get a transmission. Also love your videos man

The transmission was never great from day one when I got the car it seems, always acted weird and got worse with time and SC. New one works fine and doesn’t act weird like the old ones
