Some of the old problems were fixed, however on the Tesla forums, 2024 owners are complaining about the new problems. Just read that windshields are being replaced (due to whistling) and screens going black multiple times. Worst of all is trying to actually get things fixed under warranty. It's always a battle because Tesla is known to blame the owners.

Tesla are 1 or 2 price cuts away from annihilating the whole vehicle industry. One should know Tesla's mission and their not so secret master plans.
Unlike other legacy auto manufacturers, you can request Tesla make a practical or important change and if they agree they will implement it. A Tesla gets better with age.
Unfortunately many people mistake the form for the function but that will change as we embark on this paradigm shift - because of Tesla.

I own a 2021 long range Tesla model 3. My last 4 cars were brand new BMW's and Audi's. I honestly have no issue with the build quality of the Tesla compared to my previous cars. I really have no idea why people complain so much. Keep in mid Tesla has the highest customer satisfaction rating of 87%, and the next highest rating is Lexus at 68%. I'm so sick of people picking on Tesla for no reason. Also, they are the most safe cars. One was driven off a 250 foot cliff when a guy tried to kill his family and himself, and they all survived. There have been only 2 "recalls" in the almost 3 years I owned it. They were conveniently fixed by over the air updates, with no need to go to the dealer. I have had absolutely no issue with leaks at all. Interior panels are perfect fit, also the exterior is fine.Another thing is the updates. The car gets better over time with constant free updates. Tesla also has more driving data ( over 1 billion miles) that they recently changed their full self driving from 600,000 lines of code to AI, which is accelerating their self driving capability much faster. No other manufacturer has that much data. Their motors are built for 1 million miles. They also have 55,000 superchargers worldwide. If you get a Tesla cheap, it's foolish to dump it.

I have a 2023 MYLR and the build quality was excellent. I had heard about the gaps and the water ingress issues but knock on wood my vehicle has none of those issues. I paid what I would call mid-level pricing, not the highest a MY had been, and certainly not the lowest. The ride is really smooth, the dual glass makes it a quiet ride, and I have never owned a vehicle that was so capable in so many ways, from CAMP mode to DOG mode, from auto-steer to FSD. I do agree on the subscriptions but that seems to be an issue across brands and probably started with the roll-out of OnStar. And with regard to FSD, it is a true marvel and only getting better. Their is no other company in the world that can engage Supervised FSD type capability on any road. Highways sort of, but nothing like FSD. And that's why most Tesla buyers/owners don't mind paying a little more for tech that later drops in price. It is similar to laptops, stereos, and what not, you buy and a year later the stuff out there is likely better and cheaper. That said, the laptop you bought today is just as powerful as it was, but unlike a laptop, Tesla vehicles become more capable over time and that is where Tesla shines. Yes, that can only go so far, but older Tesla's enjoy the same or mostly the same (all vision vs sensor vehicles) FSD experience with auto-park and summon. I don't get most people who put down Tesla but never owned one, and in many cases, never drove one. As for the $6000 charger that is probably more related to your home and where you live than a Tesla. The average price is more $1400 including buying the Wall Connector for about $500. If I had to gripe about a Tesla I would gripe about the windshield wipers (this shouldn't need rocket scientists to solve) and the ability for the driver or front passenger to turn off their vent. Other than that, my 2023 MYLR is absolutely astonishing!

On my third Tesla and they have been brilliant. Zero issues except a suspension squeak that was fixed under warranty. There is nothing to touch them for value in the EV or ICE world and try pricing up something with Model 3P features and well - performance and see how far you get. 450+ HP all-wheel drive for 25k? I have owned and driven cars for nearly 45 years. I have loved Jags, V12 and V6 twin Turbo, Saab, Citroen, Rover, I forget what - some were dreadful and some were labours of love but believe me, you get a Tesla and you will never go back. Zero servicing, cheap as chips to run, nothing to break, no dealer hassle. May I also suggest carefully reading the manual. And looking at youtube videos for hints and tips. Six grand for a home charger?? get another quote - that's just silly.

Not taking the Clean Used Vehicle tax credit will actually help with your resale value - since the credit can only be used ONCE per vehicle VIN, and it is still intact for your M3P. When it is time for you to sell, dealers (who can process the $4k tax credit in a subsequent sale) will value your vehicle at a higher value over one where the used vehicle tax credit has already been used.

Its a shame that you have a couple of problems with the car, but as you know, each of those can be resolved pretty inexpensively and permanently. Its a shame the previous owner lived with the problems for 3 years.
I'm at 5 years and 100k miles on my 3 LRAWD, and I really think the benefit to be shared is I've literally done no maintenance in that timeframe. Well - I guess I did have to grease my control arm ball joints once for $10. Very literally tires and wiper blade replacements otherwise.
For those who would recommend a hybrid or plug in hybrid instead, I owned several before this car. More powertrain means more potential issues, and I had them with both Volt and Prius. Those were not maintenance free at all. I had those cars because I didn't trust Tesla even when Teslas were available - now I'm converted to a believer.

As someone who isn’t that big of a Tesla fan, I agree with all your statements. I recently took a 2023 Model Y with only 22k miles on it on a 600+ mile roadtrip and honestly for a car that new. The interior rattles way too much. And there was this constant buzzing noise that came from the driver side air vent. Exterior quality was actually pretty acceptable. The car just fell short on the interior for me. On the upside. The tech works amazingly well, it genuinely feels like using a smartphone from Apple or Samsung. The UI is simple and very intuitive, autopilot is pretty cool to have as well. I know a lot of modern cars have the phone as a key function but this was the first car I used that had this function and it’s so convenient. You literally just walk up to the car. It unlocks automatically and you just get in and go. No start button, just get in and go. It’s very futuristic feeling. I liked it a lot. As a Tesla skeptic and I still am. Driving that model Y has made me seriously consider getting a performance model 3 as my next car

As an owner of a 2019 Model 3 long range since new, I can say this is an excellent analysis of the car! If your Model 3 is still under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, definitely make an appointment with a service center to get your trunk leak and fogged taillight fixed under warranty. I have put 54,000 miles on my Model 3 so far. Thankfully, I have had neither of the problems your car has. So far, the build quality issues I have had to have fixed under warranty were both upper control arms replaced for squeaking ball joints, a jammed front trunk latch, and a bad window regulator. The last two issues were handled by Tesla mobile service where I park for work, so at least Tesla made the repair process as painless as possible. My car does have a rattle noise from the speaker grille on the dash if the temperature is at a particular temperature, which is annoying. I know someone with a 2018 Model X and his only repair in 55,000 miles has been replacing the air compressor for the air suspension. Overall, I have no regrets on purchasing my Tesla and when the time comes, I'll buy another Tesla.

The best built quality vehicles I have own were the 2013 Lexus GX460 & 2000 Acura Integra GSR, no rattles, no panel gaps and super reliable. I kind of expect sloppy craftsmanship from Tesla from California's workers. I heard the quality is much better with the Made in China Model 3. This Tesla however though does lack quite a bit in build quality compared to even my 10 year old BMW. I am also one of those guys who thinks BMW makes "reliable" cars if you know what to fix at what time. With Tesla though 3 years 50k miles, we just changes tires and nothing broke. PLEASE: "poor build quality" VS emerging new technology. People should think of a Tesla as a new technology not as a 100 year old auto company. As with all new Technologies, with time quality goes up and cost goes down, hence the EV depreciation. Go back and look at flat screen TVs when they came out, then track the next 20 years and look at their selling price consistently reduced while at the same time the sizes increased. Remember screen burn and pixels not working? Now look at the mature technology of flat screens and look at the size, quality, and price..... very different. And that is just a simple TV, how much more complicated is a vehicle responsible for you life. EVs are probably less than 25% on the road to being a mature technology, build quality is improving, battery density is improving, battery safety and durability is improving, manufacturing processes are improving. All this is not hidden or a mystery, it is how new technologies progress, and if people choose to ignore this and then complain after about depreciation, seems to me like the problem is more with that persons education level or maybe they just spent thousands and thousands on something that they don't understand and didn't take the time to look into.

as a Tesla enthusiast, I'll explain to you why we tend to defend Tesla for the build quality. You have to remember, Tesla is a very young car company, and their first mass produced car was indeed the model 3. They started producing the car in 2017, and the first 2-3 years were all about getting the profitability on the vehicle, in order to not bankrupt the company. Your model is 2021, so just a couple of years after they exited the bankruptcy period. They started focusing more on expanding the business, building more factories and growing fast (which they did). Unfortunately, when you're expanding that fast globally your first real mass produced vehicle, you'll definitely have production quality issues. Models from 2022, 2023 and after have much better build quality. It's much rarer now to find really badly built vehicles. Many are criticizing the Cybertruck too, but they don't understand the engineering challenges to manage a stainless steal body, first in history vehicle to have that. They have also produced less than 10,000 of them, so they're still in the finding issues phase of production. I appreciate the honesty about your view switch though!

I just have one opinion. EV’s are the future. However, many many people like to talk beautiful things of EV’s like “gas saving” and as a whole , taking into account numbers, due to depreciation, you are loosing more money than buying a Toyota hybrid ….. Also, the Infrastructure is not just there yet. How is it possible that just 1 year ago all the companies said “ ok, we will adapt Tesla Charger as standard “ and I still think some companies like Toyota haven’t even say that. Like a new technology is advancing very very fast but, I honestly don’t want to buy a 30k car to later it be 20k 3 years later and being “part of the test” a model 3 for 18-26k is a good deal depending on the model or Miles’s but more than that ? Nope.

    • @Sixotoo
      @Sixotoo 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

I keep hearing people say this. The infrastructure isn’t there yet? Do you live in an old house with 50 amp service? That will still charge my car. Electric companies are a business like any other. They are happy to sell you as much electricity as you are willing to pay for. Sure, if every person on earth bought an EV overnight there might be a few blown fuses but that’s not how it happens. The grid can and will easily scale to handle the demand. The grid has been growing at about 4% per year for a very long time.
On depreciation, because of the Biden recession and interest rates people are choosing not to buy cars right now. This causes car prices to fall. When car prices are down cars depreciate faster. When car prices go back up they will not depreciate as fast. Now is a great time to buy a new car with the prices so low. Just shop for a good interest rate.

I think you meant to say that if you talked to EV owners, 80% of them would say they wouldn’t go back to a gas car because EVs offer so many more pros than cons.
I put about 30,000 miles on my car a year and there are only 3 or 4 times a YEAR I have to stop and “fuel” up (about 20 minutes each time). It’s a different way of thinking than most people are used to. Because every morning you wake up, your car is “full” so how often do you actually need to stop and charge… and in reality, most people rarely drive more than 200-300 a day (maybe 3 or 4 times a year)
