Ah that Capcom chime and the 90s music brings back so many childhood memories as this was my first video game back in 1995. It’s hilarious I immediately started humming along even though it’s been over 25 years since I last played it.
For those watching this and who never played it, this was an odd one. It appears to be a side scroller, but it has some interesting aspects. First, although you have extra lives, every time you die you never respawn where you died. You respawn at the beginning of the level or a checkpoint. To balance out this difficulty, rather than rely on special power ups or a separate energy meter to use your mutant powers, you put in button combinations like you're playing a fighting game to use them. This kind of unbalances things a bit...making some characters far better choices to use than others. Wolverine is pretty OP not only due to the nature of his special attacks but the fact he can climb walls, which makes him able to access areas no other character in the game can. Second, the first "Mission" in the game is actually a five-parter, in which every character in the game has to beat a level made just for them. From then on until the final mission, you can pick whatever character you like best for each level. The final mission in the game is the oddest. They were trying to give the impression of all five X-Men attacking Avalon at once from different routes and all trying to converge on Magneto. So, technically, if you want to beat the game, you only need to get one character through their stage and then beat Magneto. However, Magneto has a ton of HP, really powerful attacks, and is really hard to hit with many characters. The plus side is that his HP doesn't recover between losses, so you can in theory win the battle through attrition. However, to maximize your chances of victory, you need to get as many X-Men to him as possible so that each one can whittle away some of his HP. Each X-Man you get to him basically increases your odds of beating the game. But to get to him, each one has to beat their respective stage. However, as a bonus, Exodus only appears as a miniboss in the first two stages you beat before he's permanently defeated, and the remaining X-Men can get through their stages without having to fight him.
Que recuerdos me trae este juego, lo jugaba en el super nintendo los gráficos y la musica se me hacían increíbles. Ahora que veo el video aun se me hace un gran juego.
I Really Miss this Game Got alot of Great Memories Renting This Game from Blockbuster and Playing it on the SNES, Wish I Could go back in Time and Experience that again.
I still have that X-Men game plus i still have Maximum Carnage but my collection of SNES games and my system is set up at my nephews now so they can play vintage games. They also have my NES and N64 as well as the games
Capcom has always had the BEST conversions of arcade to home games out of all developers just the details in character design was way ahead of their time
(My teenage years come flooding back...) Oh god, this game was frustrating as all hell! I loved playing it though, in fact I still play it occasionally on my PC via emulator. Another favorite of mine was Sunset Riders. and E.V.O.
This was one of my favorite SNES Games as a teen.... Such a shame it was super short.... Would had loved it if it was as long as The Return of The Jedi game....
Xmen 2 Clone wars on the Genesis was way better imo. Love how the camera moved with the character in the Genesis version. Not to mention the music is way better, stages were much larger vertically, and you can select different xmen characters for different stages.
Damn my brother gave me a modded original xbox with like thousands of ATARI, NES, SNES and Genesis games. I think it's in storage somewhere. You're making me want to retrieve it now with this.
I remember renting this and looking through the book(character bios) and noticing the password uses all the characters + magneto and prof x. So, i put the password as each character showed up in the book then just added magneto and prof x at the end and it brought me to the last level. Always enjoyed discovering secrets on my own. I also discovered a way to get really large amount of gold in tecmo: secret of the stars accidently on a friends playthrough. The buttons were completely different than other rpgs and I just kept switching between parties and going into the menu not knowing what I was doing and talking to an innkeeper or maybe a banker? Then all off a sudden I had like 10 million gold. I wondered i could pull it off again so I saved and retried and was able to do it again. Good times.
Even if you didn't know Capcom did this game the music and layouts would tell you in a second. There's a more than a few similarities (in the best way possible) between this and Mega Man X. Like I think some if these are damn near the same stages.

So u had yo be at least 6 years old then I know I was
Awww. You’re just a teeny tiny baby.
I played games made of vacuum tubing and imagination.
cut the crap.
I was selling dope in hs and doing many stupid girls when this came out 😂
it really did i forgot about it until now
The music in this is so rad. I had the most fun as Cyclops or Gambit. Beast and Wolverine were challenging for me.
What a blast from the past! I haven’t played this snes in the late 90s
I give SNES & Capcom high praise for the creation of this epic game. From gameplay to OST it was all perfect.
Remember when we were young....we would pause the game while they were in action poses...just to admire how cool they looked
One of the best games of the SNES era.
OH IT WAS!..... Such a shame the game is uber short!
Oh well. I still hold it in high-regard, as one of the best comic book based games.
Not better than Killer Instinct
Lol fuck no. Hagane, contra 3 and way more others to name.
true
I loved that the moves were basically street fighter moves. Wolverine was so fun to control I used to beat this game over and over again.
On the greatest game ever for SNES. Spent many hours playing when I was a kid. Thanks for the trip down memory lane 😉
Those wolverine slashes taste like hot pockets too me lol
Greatest game for SNES was Chrono trigger

huh, thanks for the Info. Now it makes much more sense why Magneto was so annoying.
tyvm
I like how you can just tell it's Capcom by the music and sounds.
Spent lots of hours playing this after school. Ah to be 10 years old again.
My childhood I can remember coming home from school and my mom had bought me this game me and my brother stayed up so late playing it
Que recuerdos me trae este juego, lo jugaba en el super nintendo los gráficos y la musica se me hacían increíbles. Ahora que veo el video aun se me hace un gran juego.
I love the fact that capcom utilized the same character models from this game for X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom, and MvC2
I remember finishing this game in less than 30 minutes when I was a kid, I only had this game and Super Metroid, great memories
Looks and plays like it could have been an arcade game. This was peak 16-bit era Capcom.
One of the great superhero beatemups on the SNES
The end credits had me rolling. Wolverine forever alone 🤣
They paired everyone else up when Storm is like right there
Ohhhhh the irony of me seeing this on Christmas. I had gotten this game for Christmas in ‘94. It was great fun.
This was the 2nd game I finished on my SNES behind A Link To The Past. Fun times back in 1993-1995.
I cannot honestly believe i slept on this game back then what was i thinking about back then☹️😢😢🥺🥺🥶😭😭😭😭😭
I was just thinking about this game. Remember playing it alot as a kid
I Really Miss this Game Got alot of Great Memories Renting This Game from Blockbuster and Playing it on the SNES, Wish I Could go back in Time and Experience that again.
Remember got this for x mas in 90s ..absolutely loved it and playing with gambit
I still have that X-Men game plus i still have Maximum Carnage but my collection of SNES games and my system is set up at my nephews now so they can play vintage games. They also have my NES and N64 as well as the games
The soundtrack is fantastic!
Ahh this brings some memories. I could beat all the first stages except for Beast. Those multiple sentinels were plain impossible
Same here. I didn't even see the other levels. Maybe once when I watched someone older play?
Hard to do beast and psylocks for me.
Cyclops was a toss up for me.
But I always knocked out Wolverines and Gambits stage
@@firejoe283 Sounds about right for me too. Played Cyclops, Gambit and Wolverine the most.
Just jump over the sentinels and keep butt bouncing over their heads till they wreck in pieces.
One of the first games I owned as a kid. Classic
This and War of the Gems were epic! Those basically set the groundwork for Marvel vs Capcom. >_
Loved this game as a kid the only other X-Men game back then even came close was the clone wars on genesis.
Capcom has always had the BEST conversions of arcade to home games out of all developers just the details in character design was way ahead of their time
Huh?….. this was never in the arcade…..
I still have this game!! Was crazy hard for me beat Magneto at the end. Many controllers went flying across the room 😅
(My teenage years come flooding back...) Oh god, this game was frustrating as all hell! I loved playing it though, in fact I still play it occasionally on my PC via emulator. Another favorite of mine was Sunset Riders. and E.V.O.
Very nice game, my childhood what I played this game, my brother’s friend’s game what he played this game in the 90’s, here in the SNES era.

This X Men Game Is The Bomb
One of the hardest games on any system.
This was one of my favorite SNES Games as a teen.... Such a shame it was super short.... Would had loved it if it was as long as The Return of The Jedi game....
Phsylocke is thick!! This game was just ok for me.
Un giocone.contento di averci giocato ai tempi sul mitico snes..
Underrated as h (heck)
Strong Mega Man X vibes right here
Awe man !!! The memories I had playing this😃
one of my fave SNES joints
No dlc ,live service, surprise mechanics and a complete game
the best X-Men game 🔥😎
X Men 2 : Clone Wars for Genesis is much better.
@@PeaceArt1 Never played that one.
Xmen 2 clone wars has enter the chat
I'd say legends 2 is the best X-Men game
X-Men vs Street fighter
This game is the precursor to the marvel vs series without a doubt.
I used to play with this religiously back in the day..🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I loved this game back in the day, especially playing as Wolverine. His Shoryuken was essentially invincible.
Awesome how Cyclops has superhuman strength allows him to punch heavy metal speeding bikers rushing towards him causing them to explode
This game was totally rad.
sprites looked great!
So much Nostalgia. Play this so many times love this game♥️♥️♥️♥️
Wolverine would be awesome at longplay archive
Lol great memories as a kid playing this with my Dad.
Exactly how they should be introduced in the MCU
Maaaaaan this took me all the way back! The music was so fire. Too bad my copy was stolen...smh
I remember this game being tough! Good memories though lol
I loved this game. I could barely get anywhere but I loved it
Xmen 2 Clone wars on the Genesis was way better imo. Love how the camera moved with the character in the Genesis version. Not to mention the music is way better, stages were much larger vertically, and you can select different xmen characters for different stages.
This is epic!!!
this is the end friend!!!!

Wow, I never knew I was that close to beating this game
I still have this game to this day
I couldn't beat Magneto with anyone but Wolverine.. Don't think I realized you could pre kick the metal beams as they were coming in. Memories galore.
Reminds me of simple the times Saturday Morning Cartoons, Blockbuster Video, comic books, and Soul Train. Oh I long 4 those days again.
I had this game growing up lol
Classic beat it several times 😅
Awesome game I remember playing this one
Que jogo maravilhoso....lembro na época o quão incrível foi jogar ele.
I hope they bring this to Nintendo Switch Online.
Masterpiece ever. Greatness
Back when games were worth playing
I remember that video game man Psylocke was sexy looking in that game
i love to play with her
@@luccas21190s down boy
The music rocks! Reminds me Mega Man X! Coincidence? I think not! 🤔
I would love a remake of this
I remember this game. The uncanny X-men was huge when this game came out.
Man I forgot about this game. One of the first i ever owned as a kid!

It's funny that they used blanka's template from street fighter for Beast.
Great job. I never got to any of the character's second stages. This game is really difficult, IMO.
The Sega Genesis X-Men games blew the Nintendo ones away. X-men 2 : Clone Wars was one of the best games ever made, ever ever.
lolno.
Clone wars was awesome! I loved how the intro was just the game starting. Now credits no title just the game.
@@Wesblumarine yes! Also it was 2 players simultaneously, and you could play as Magneto.
Wowwwwww I remember this game I used to play it too😂
Memories😎 damn... gambit was my favorite xmen character.
i used to own this, was a cool game for its time. was a bit better than the average beat em up.
Gorgeous sound , graphics ... love capcom snes games
My favorite x-men character is storm
Oh shit. I remember playing this. Damn I’m old 😂
Leftover mega man music and levels with X-men = awesome
I love this game so much

the sound effects are very similar too
Gambit also has M.Bison's scissors kick for a attack
Never noticed the mega man similarities music levels sound effects etc
I used to loooove this game. Psylocke was my girl I loved her fighting style.
