You really put in the perfect amount of detail, giving enough context and names to know what’s going on, but without delving into distracting amounts of information. It’s great to have you posting again!
It is admirable that you've held out mention of my people's name for so long. Our tenacity to appease the Gods is only matched by our enduring patience in the art of concealing information. We would've gladly stretched ourselves at anytime in the past, yet we chose this time in particular...... after hearing from countless unnamed scouts.... to appease the hunger of our Gods. They shall have a glorious feast at the helm of our footsteps once we enter.
Nice seeing you uploading more videos on the timeline of the Star Wars Expanded Universe. I know its been awhile since you last uploaded, though with what's happening in your life recently, I can't blame you.
I never took into account how much Han was tortured in the legends continuity and how much the Imperial Warlords where the core problems that the New Republic should have dealt with them with more prejudice.
11:04 - The Moment Tad used a TCW media image, I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
Great watch as always! Can't wait for the next one. Going with your presentation of the events, it seems to me that this was one of the more hectic eras of the canon, where the OT heroes were saving the galaxy every other week or so... When researching this, did you have to go through more EU materials than usual, or am I just imagining things?
Indeed, tho it's just a continuation of the Galaxy's history post-endor. One of my favourite series, but some fans go too excited about it and treat it as some sort of central piece of Star Wars media, which it's not supposed to be (i mean c'mon, the events of Lucas' films clearly are and nothing changes that). To be fair tho, the Vong invasion is a monumental event in its own right.
@@emzonik8851 NJO is very much a central event in Legends. The Yuuzhan Vong had had a presence in the galaxy as far back as the Old Republic era, and the war greatly afflicted the galaxy until the very end of the timeline in Legacy. From a real-world perspective, the series a groundbreaking shift in tone, scale, and style that paved the way for pretty much the entire EU to come.
@@LegendsLiterature (Sorry for this wall, Jesus) You're obviously correct in that it's a groundbreaking series in every sense of the word, but where my point stands is that it's nonetheless not the actual main story in the entire Legends continuity (in-universe). Yes, the Vong were present to a varying degree for centuries and their probes for millenia, but the Jedi Order and the Republic that were destroyed in the prequels had existed for far longer, since way before the Vong even originated as we know them in their own galaxy. Furthermore, claims that in any other era the invaders would've succeeded are imho ridiculous. They were absolutely unsustainable long term, which is a big part of post-Star By Star novels. The entire war killed 365 trillions which is absolutely massive death toll (possibly indeed exceeding any other war), but just to remind everyone, the Galaxy's known population was more than 100 quadrillion. And there's also the major aspect that the reason why the Vong even managed to establish a foothold was a combination of New Republic's critical mistakes at the start and the ravaging the Galaxy saw in the war with the imperials (Nom Anor says that in Traitor I believe). This is in fact what this series is all about, it's a major test for the already NEW Galaxy and the NEW Jedi Order. The cost, at which they could have come to be. To quote Kyp: "The old Jedi order died with the Old Republic. Then there was Luke, and only Luke, and a lot of fumbling to re-create Jedi from what little he knew of them. He did the best he could, and he made mistakes. I was one of them. His generation of Jedi was put together like a rickety space scow, but from it something new has emerged. It's not the old Jedi order, nor should it be. We, Jaina, are the new Jedi order. And this is our war." So again, it's the central event post-Endor (depending on how you view Legacy and what happened after), but it doesn’t revolutionise the Galaxy on a level as fundamental as we see in G-Canon. It's just not what those books are about. The EU was always built around Lucas and no matter the scale of each story, they luckily never outgrew him in in-universe importance.
@@emzonik8851 Yeah, it’s definitely not the absolute biggest event in-universe. That would probably be Order 66. But other than Order 66, the Battle of Ruusan, and a few others, I’d say the Vong War is definitely up there.
@@LegendsLiterature Absolutely. It's just that some of our fellow NJO fans tend to get, as I said, overexcited about it and ignoring the lore context they outright proclaim it the main story of Star Wars as a whole. I think the Force Wars and 2 Jedi schisms are also up there, tho imo the biggest event as a whole is rather still the GCW rather than Order 66 on ots own (KOTOR/TOR is kind of in a limbo due to meta reasons, but judging from what we have, it's probably a close runner up to all these). But when it comes to the Vong, their later fate is what interests me most, they have a major involvement in Legacy but other than that, we don't know what haooened to them long-term. Whether they regained connection to other beings through the Force because of Sekot is yet to be seen (Legends never die I guess).
You better hurry up and make a Ki-Adi Mundi vid. Most big critic channels, that are now anti-Di$ney, keeps saying that nobody care about the character. But we SWEU fans remember him as a respectable knight, expert duelist (against grevious), former temp master of Skywalker - because Munid was a late starter as well, the bane of Enphant Mon, father of seven, husband of five.
Star Wars diversity alliance is so funny in legends, especially if you look at modern day Star Wars en diversity in comparison, it shows perfectly why is doesn't work.
Almost as if it knew what was to come for the IP and franchise. Very laughable and ironic indeed for that alliance to have a totalitarian stance and an almost maniacal attitude towards ousting a certain group of people.
*sniffs the air* Is that the scent of fear? The scent your kind gives off at the mere mention of my people's name seems to still frighten you and your audience. Proceed carefully in your next transmission..... give no disrespect and leave no detail of our efforts unmentioned.
@valeriansamborski5844 I love this "old schlog" and I am very left leaning and progressive. The context your putting these stories into isnt at all what you're trying to make it, you would know if you actually read the books. But, assuming (given your highly ignorant and ill-informed comment), that you are a proponent of the post-buyout continy, you seem to have fallen for the "EU=bad" rhetoric and are trying to criticize and even worse, politicize, something you understand very little of and are just taking what other, bad intentioned individuals have convinced you to believe despite doing no research for yourself, as the truth. That or, like most EU haters, your attention span is too miniscule to actually sit and read a book, or perhaps even your comprehension skills are absent, again like most EU haters. If you actually read the material and play the games, watch a few of my videos even, you might come to actually enjoy the old continuity just as much or even morso than the post-buyout continuity, but I have no hope for your misbegotten kind. - Love, Tadd
@@Manda-LORE Triggered much? Both Legends and the dumpster fire, our most benevolent overlords at Disney and Co., have fed us, is chauvinist garbage. One parades around with a vaguely progressive veneer nominally pandering to the masses, doing the worst possible kind of reintegration from the left, whilst in reality splitting class solidarity by selling us on the idea that the symptoms are the root of the problem and not just that. The other lays the blame for the failings/crises of the system on individual shortcomings and the success of individual virtue, failing to thematize the broader context again. I am sick of getting pacified by conservative super-market shlog or neoliberal propaganda. I keep hearing about the greatness of the Expanded Universe. Like, come on, Leia, a mother and a housewife? The Alliance to RESTORE the Republic?! The "Free Federation of Democratic and liberated alliances of freedom-loving Starsystem and friends", or whatever that thing that materialized when the rebels and the imps allied was called. Of course, the imps also got their own Jedi order and a "good" emperor, and they even allowed aliens in! Really the Empire was no biggie, it turns out it was just Palpatines fault that it turned out evil. Or, on the other side, the most lukewarm criticism of capitalism the world has ever seen, along the lines of "Corruption is when bad people are bad!" at least according to Ashoka, or Corporations are bad because corporations are "greedy"? Or how about the peek individualism of the Sequel Trilogy with the Skywalker dynasty being the sole driver behind galactic history!? Vote harder next time, Mandalorian, and see if that changes anything!
29:20 using live action Thrawn as brilliant. While I have no problem with it myself, it pales in comparison to other depictions of Thrawn.
Dammit you beat me to the joke.
It took me a second, but now I get it lmao
I wasn't expecting this so soon Awesome! Its crazy how this series is almost complete
I'm planning on completing it this year. That is my main goal

Nice touch with the portrayal of Flim. :D
An excellent video my friend. Good to see lore videos on some of my favorite eras of Star Wars.
New manda lore vid lets go!

Love the fake Thrawn picture you used during the covering of the Caamas document crisis 😂

I love learning true Star Wars history 👍

It's not finished yet!
Love this channel.
