  • Rocket League. What a game. The mechanics of this game have varying levels of skill, from beginner to advanced and those who spend the most time, STILL might not get to Supersonic Legend. What is this about? Consistency. Most player from even Diamond 3 and up can do most mechanics, but the rate at which they succeed, the speed and the quality of the shot differs greatly. Supersonic legends consistently score good shots and execute mechanics. Grand champs, like me, do not. I've created an intense, hardcore and downright tedious mechanic test to showcase the main differences in consistency between a Grand Champ and a Supersonic legend. How different are we?

alright, I'm gonna train as the *One Punch Man of rocket league* from now on
100 x Ground / Wall to Air Dribbles
    100 x Double Taps
100 x Flip Resets / Double Flip Resets
    100 x Flicks
    100 x Bounce Dribbles
    100 x Ceiling Shots
    Daily (with variety)
edit: alright, it was just a Joke but since u all took it serious and answered supportive I'll start today with the *One Shot Man* training (probably won't do 100 each every day dough)
I am a fresh GC1 (but really bad at the left wall) and these are my first scores, tell me when to update:
*82/100 Wall to Air Dribbles* (left side better because of more focus and less air roll)
*48/100 Double Taps* (bad setups and focus but I am better in game)
*73/100 Flip Resets* (+a 140 kph ground pinch xD)
*86/100 Ground to Air Dribbles* (starting from a ground dribble was easier for me, should do it more often in game)
*76/100 Flicks* (only around 4 no flicks, the other ones over the goal)
    *84/100 Bounce Dribbles*
*81/100 Ceiling Shots* (confident that 95/100 are possible without trolling, did a lot dTaps easily, maybe should've done that for the dTaps, ended with a clean pogo xD)
*7/100 Double Flip Resets* (only 1 on right side, 2am, probably too tired, I even did a maktuf reset before and used 2x Resets in ranked [not many dough])
These are probably not 100% accurate since I did these from midnight to half past 2 and I always counted 10, wrote them down and repeat

I'm c3 as well, but I've trained way more time in mechanics than actually playing ranked. I think I could comfortably hit 60/100 flip resets and maybe like 10-100 double flip resets. Doubles are hard, but once you get in the groove for single resets it's really easy to just keep going. Might have to do some testing on this.

lmao I'm D3/C1 and I'd go 0/100 on most of these xD I'm super non-mechanical, and on KBM. I would probably do okay-ish with the flicks (30?) and dismal with air dribbles or double taps. Bounce dribbles would probably give me the least trouble if I did them the same way the SSL did it; if I had to make two touches before going for a shot that'd be a lot more difficult, I feel like.

  • @Aigey

Food for thought: There's a very important factor in this entire video that I just watched that I think was completely glazed over.
"What is the emotional state of the SSL player during every shot" That metric? That very key metric is something that it seems like every single rocket league video I watch seems to kind of miss when making videos liken to this.
And I'm not saying things like "Oh they were sad they missed " but more like, "How confident are they in his shot, this angle, the side of the wall they took the shot from, consistency in their form." etc etc. Which quite frankly this led me to a really amazing discovery. Every attempted shot you made you go into it with a specific mindset for each angle and a preconceived of focused mixed with CONFIDENCE. you don't just focus on a shot, you have confidence leading up to the performance of landing a specific shot in various ways from a multitude of angles.
Meanwhile we had a clear expression of how you felt during your attempts, but almost nothing from the side of the SSL player. How do they accept failure on a particular thing vs how they accept failure? Every missed attempt is a failure, what does that mean to you? What does that mean to other players at your rank or higher? How does your emotional acceptance of failure affect your game play, confidence and consistency?
Idk just something I noticed and may be completely wrong on this but felt like saying something.

I wanted to type this when you were gonna upload the next Emmie's journey to GC but since the season is coming close to an end, I thought I may as well write this here (doubt it will be read though lol).
Your Emmie road to GC series made someone who was stuck in c1-c2 for over 2 years and was playing RL since 2018 finally hit GC and is gonna get his first ever title in 4 days. Your series made me realize that you can get to as high as I did without even noticing what mistakes you did. I was replay analyzing myself every now and then, but for some reason I couldn't figure out the mistakes I was doing nor was I able to understand how people were doing the basics better than me when I swore I was "replicating" what they were doing. I didn't realize how bad I was committing myself by jumping carelessly, how I thought I was "fast aerialing", how inconsistent I was with wall to air dribbles, how atrocious I was while collecting pads, and how bad I was with recovering.
For me, the series really made me start realizing that I was holding myself back by convincing myself that I did everything but I'm simply not good enough against others. When in reality, all I needed was a direction from someone better at me, and by that I mean an actual direction, not just play freeplay and custom maps 5head type of coaching.
Thank you for helping me achieve a dream I really wanted to achieve for 5 years, and it finally happened. Ill still try to see how much further my limits can go, and ill actually start to work on mechanics (I still haven't hit a single flip reset at all lol), then ill try the challenge you just did against the SSL here to improve on consistency. I doubt ill get any higher than GC1, but if I thought these last 2 years I can't get GC at all, and it happened, then who knows what my actual limit is lol.
TL;DR, if you want to hit GC, watch the Emmie series and actually learn from it instead of bitching that she got picked instead of you 1heads. Maybe then you will actually hit GC instead of being stuck in plat.

i think on the ground to air dribbling part of the problem was you were hitting the ball up too hard and not straight and then trying to catch back up to it instead of lightly tapping it up and then being able to control the ball/your car better like Void was doing

  • @rl_Vxntz
    @rl_Vxntz ปีที่แล้ว +2

The reason void is hitting more flip resets is because he is positioning the ball just a little bit further away from him but stalls until he can make sure to get the reset and he puts more distance and hits it more in the center of the field but not too much

Good video man. Honestly I'm not too sure mechanics are necessarily tied to your rank or your in-game performance in any 1s 2s or 3s. I think overdoing mechanics and overcomplicating gameplay is a big reason plats>champs (I'm champ 2 myself, cant judge on gc ofc) make so many mistakes. Mechanics are fun, but simplifying some aspects of the game really can cause your win % to climb. Although it gets boring at times =P

As a Diamond the thing I noticed most is that your setups are practically perfect every time. I feel like that's the first thing I need to try and get right.

Even tho i'm only Plat 3/Dia 1...here's a tip for focus: Listen to music while playing, preferably with game audio off. I do that, and when i play without music i'm just a silver. AT least for me, it makes a huge difference

I tried this as a C1-C2 honest results:
    Air dribbles: 12/20 (60%)
    Bounce dribble/hook: 13/20 (65%)
    Double taps: 10/20 (50%)
    Flip reset goals: 12/20 (60%)
Ground to air dribble: 14/20 (70%)
    Flicks: 14/20 (70%)
Ceiling shots 5/20 (25%) - i suck so bad! Any tips on how to improve consistency for ceiling and air mechs? have memorised each setup

Im gc2 in eu, i never scored double tap, or flip reset, and cant flick properly eather or airdible. So for those who cant learn new mehanics i believe its even posible to get gc3 with no mehanics, just good shooting and position. I pass a lot, and have good defence.

i'm a gold so i think you did pretty well, i can air dribble once out of every 20 times i try. so seeing you get over 50% was pretty cool.

Here’s my tally but disclaimer, did switch to a completely new style of controller 2 days ago, still learning it. That’s no excuse tho!
Air dribbles: Predicted 50, hit 72
Double taps: predicted 30, hit 50
Flip resets: predicted 40, hit 33
    Ground-Air: predicted 40, hit 47
    Flicks: predicted 50, hit 66
Bounce dribbles: predicted 50, got bored after hitting 24/25
    Ceiling: predicted 50, hit 50!
Double resets: predicted 20 hit, hit 20/101 CAUSE I NEEDED THAT LAST ONE
For the record, I made my predictions before seeing theirs or how they did and tried to follow most of the rules of the challenge, only gave myself bounces on some double resets and tried to go for more than just the bare minimum on all the styles of shots. Feel free to try and guess my rank!

Is crazy seeing these cars seem magnetically attracted to the ball. My car flips out of the way of wide open balls rolling at me on the ground. More often than I'd like to admit. I get worse the longer i play.

Void was getting flip resets while the ball was higher up in the air. You were getting them while the ball was go in down and was quite low.
