You should look at the "I asked every rank to air dribble" by Mr-Napkin. The mechanical difference between me (a champ 2) and zini (the ssl) made me look so good at the lmao.
I imagine it's because Champs are known to practice garbage that won't ever help them in competitive whereas SSLs master what's important. Or it was just two people and the sample size isn't large enough, w/e.

If I was that Champ who hit that triple reset and then it went in with the slight bounce and then it not counting when Striped didn’t tell him before completing the challenge I would’ve been so tilted. Especially if I messed up all three tries. Guys cracked 👍

Striped I have a genius video idea. Have a silver submit a replay, then let a gold coach the silver by watching it and showing the silver one of his own replays. Then, repeat the process by secretly making the gold give his replay to a Plat. You could continue the cycle all the way to a pro critiquing an SSL. It would be cool to see what tips each rank think are most important to give to the rank below them.

@@lobbyhoe1707 even in diamond 3 it's not common to see people really air dribbling. Mostly it's just one or two touches, better touches but still not what I would call air dribbling

Plat's can NOT air dribble. I mean yeah they can get a setup (sometimes), but usually they just hit the backboard

I'm quite new to the game, few months in. Just reached diamond but concider myself a platinum still. Plats might SAY they can air dribble but we can not airdribble at all. They probably mean they once managed to do this airdribble-kinda goal after 10.000 attempts, only to not be able to do it again.
The rare air dribble you see in plat are from most often from smurfs and the exceptional freestyle-ish guy who spent 99.9% of his rocket league hours into learning this cool looking thing while not knowing the kickoffs, rotations, or any other basic aspect.
I'm high diamond and plats 100% cannot air dribble consistently, and if there's 1 that can (yet to see that - if any of you plats think you can, plz upload a clip before you @ me) and they're still plat, they probably suck so bad they might as well have 0 mechs. You don't even need to fast aerial to get to mid-high diamond lmfao see Leth's road to SSL. He literally got to champ doing 100% ground plays only, and no fancy dribbling/flipping either, literally just positioning, taking smart 50s and basic bounce dribbles
Its interesting that theres "mechanics" each rank should do but it really depends on the player. Just because you cant score 7 ssl shots doesnt mean you dont deserve it.

I'm c2 and I think I would've had it until the ceiling shot. I've hardly practiced those. Even if I got the ceiling shot there's a 0% chance I'm hitting a flip reset in 3 attempts. I might not hit one in 50 attempts fr
Honestly from what i see in diamond 3 (dropped to diamond 1 cause of the amazing random mates who challenge every ball but different story) and i barely see an air dribble and even less rare a flip reset, and i also played with many champ there and even they didn't really do anything fancy , they just play more consistently and a little faster than your average diamond , i am not really mechanical since i can consistently hit flip resets or ceiling shots and shit like that but my game sense is i would say better than diamond , that is all you need tbh , i have decent speed and very good shots with decent saves , air play is average , i can hit good ones and i can miss easy ones too lol , all in all you don't need flip resets and to be overly mechanical to reach champ , after that you just need air dribble probably, Flakes is a good example for players who are not that mechanical but still plays SSL in 1v1

So giant mango did a ground pinch as his shot to get 110 Kph and the ball didn’t go in on his first try so you said it doesn’t count as a try… but when a plat went for the air dribble none of them went in but you counted them as try’s

Gotta say though, there is a huuuge difference between practice and game. In practice as a D3 sure I could do this stuff, but in an actual game? Nah, I can't flick goals or air dribble ever.
I practice dribbling so much to maybe get one opportunity every 30 games.
Way more difficult than the actual flick is getting the opportunity to outside of 1v1. I just get rammed by either my opponents or my own teammate for daring to take half a moment to take control of the ball.

@@ProjectVEN0M Yeah, even in C1 teammates will rip the ball away from you if you're taking too long to boom the ball to give away possession.
Your best bet in Plat is to just practice accuracy with CoCo's accuracy trainer. It sucks because this is where people learn to boom the ball which is bad later on, but Plat is full of cross-court open nets and defenders that whiff their saves often enough to make booming viable.
Powerslide cuts are also useful in that area because it doesn't require too much mechanical skill yet can confuse your overly-aggressive opponents (and teammates) to no end.

as a champ, i can confirm that everyone except me can fly.
considering that I'm on the Diamond 3 and champ line going back and forth and beat people who know how to flip reset, air dribble, and etc. but dont know how to rotate, these mechanics only get you so far if you dont have any rocket league IQ, positioning skills, or ground shooting abilities.

I’m the most mechy plat hands down. I can wall dash, zap dash, speed flip, Flip reset, musty flick, breezy flick, pogo and more. I’m not very consistent but I have clips of every mech I’ve done and some of them I’ve done in game. I’m def not the best but I think I’ve been playing 4 months. I’d love to be in a video
