    Watch for my 1st bike wreck! Sorry this is so Long!! I didn't think it was right to cut this video in half. We can compare the Lectric's odometer against my new bike app.

    I'm sorry this video is so long but I just couldn't cut it down or split it up too much since it was a tour of my town. I thought it would mess up the flow. So I appreciate you sticking with it to the end!

    so glad you were not hurt! My wife and I watched your "tour" ride video together and enjoyed it very much. we have 4 rides together so far and the bone connector BT headsets are working well for us so far ... the 1/2 second delay between spoken and heard is not noticeable except when we are right next to each other. we both are amazed at the traffic you have learned to navigate with; these country roads do have some traffic but not much; however, there are a very few drivers down here that will NOT give and inch and scare me when they go by about 6" next to my shoulder. We have memorized a few cars that IF we see them, we get completely off they road. My wife likes to stay in PAS 1 at 6-7 mph so far and we are still working on adjustments etc for a more comfortable ride for her. Today I discovered that our handlebars were loose! SO I rotated them toward the rear about 25 degrees; this brings them about an inch back toward the seat; seems to be optimal! Everything attached to the handlebars has to be rotated back around so brakes, gears and mode buttons are where they can be used easily. I found this allows me to sit up even straighter when my fingers all the way around the grips. The grips WILL rotate also so the palm rests can be adjusted to where they are comfortable. Also, I have added a ZIPTIE around the throttle area with the connection about where the thumb is when griping the handlebars; now I can use the throttle with just the thumb. Really like that simple mod.

      Hi Chester...I'm glad you guys liked the video! It sure was an adventure going around town that much for the first time. I'm glad you two have been able to get out together and that the bone connectors are working well for you. Traffic is much the same here because they don't see bikes that often and don't like to give much room. It really can be nerve racking, that's why I was on the sidewalks so much which ended up with the wreck. Those sidewalk lips can be a little higher than the sidewalk sometimes and that's what happened to me. The grass between the two hid that fact and since I was riding toward it at an angle, it just took my front tire with it and I kept going straight...lesson learned! I was lucky to have not gotten hurt and rode away without a scratch. I don't think I have mentioned it in any of my videos but I adjusted the all the things on my handlebars too (brake lever, PAS buttons, Gear shift). They were too far forward when it came so I twisted them toward the back a little for easier access. I did that for both mine and my wife's. I can't wait for her to come out with me...she had her surgery last Thursday and is home recovering now. She should be off the walker in 2 or 3 weeks and hopefully back on the bike in 4 or 5 weeks. I like the zip tie on the throttle idea...I might give that a shot and see how that works for me.

    love the conversation while riding. almost an ASMR bike ride video.. currently sick at home and just watching soothing intersting videos. also ordered my ebike yesterday greatly due to your videos. I'm younger (30) 6'2" 250-280 depending on time of year so it seems like a really good option to get me out and about more. I see you hardly ever go past pas 3 and I know that takes alot of discipline. keep up the good work and hope you're doing OK after the accident!!

      I really appreciate you watching! I started out posting videos for people like you and me who are a little bigger than the average ebike rider/reviewer. I wanted to show us big folks that battery powered ebikes are for us too and not just for the sub 200lb. person. And if a 300 pounder can ride this bike...almost anyone watching would have great results too. I took a shot in the dark that this bike would work for me since I hadn't seen anyone my size ride them and ordered one for myself and one for my wife. It ended up being one of the best decisions I've ever made. I now have about 300 miles on my bike...more than I would have if I didn't have it! 😂 Congrats on your purchase...I know you will be pleased! There is a wait on receiving it but it is worth the wait! Have a good one!

    These hills you do gives me hope that I can also get up them. I am a veteran, thanks for that. I love all the old houses along the way. LOVED the fireworks. Oh man on the fall, looked like what I saw when I fell down the steps of our house in Alaska, down 6 steps, and meet the blacktop. ugh! You got up faster than I did, be careful out there.

    • @ReflectionsofOurLife
      @ReflectionsofOurLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all...thank you so much for your service. I hold our service people in the highest regard possible and believe we should do much more for you. I am not a veteran but many of my family members and friends are. I have family that has fought in every US war going back to the Revolutionary war. Lisa and I rode up a hill yesterday close to our house and she smoked me!😂 It really showed how much weight has to do with it. But if I can make it up some of the hills in my video, I'd say at least 90% of the people watching them would have no problem at all. The funny thing about that fall was that it seemed like it was in slow motion. I felt like it took forever to hit the ground...I had time to think about what we were having for dinner, if I had paid the water bill, and that I was sure I would break my arm with all my weight landing on it! 😂 Fun fact...I've never broken a bone other than a finger and a couple of toes. I always told everybody that I was just big boned so maybe I was right all along! 😂

      @@ReflectionsofOurLife I know the "slow" feeling and understand what you mean, back on my fall, was wondering how I was going to feel when I "hit" the bottom, did not hurt me much, bruised somewhat, broke nothing always said it is all my "padding" that protected me. 🤣 You are doing a great job encouraging me and I am sure others out there that we can still ride and enjoy.

      Thanks 56CrownVick! I thought I'd try and wake up those who were falling asleep toward the end of that long video😂 But that's what it looks like on the 4th. Fortunately, I was able to ride away without a scratch. I'm just glad I was out early and there wasn't much traffic around...Falling out in the street could be very dangerous! I was more worried about breaking an arm catching both my weight and the bike's falling off of the curb! I must have pretty thick/strong bones because I've never broken a bone...knock on wood!

I was lucky on the crash...rode away without a scratch. Enjoyed this video too! Taught me much. Sorry about that fall but I'm encouraged how you got up and on your way. I admit, I am so afraid of getting on my bike the first time. Been 15 years since I've road a bike and never an eBike. Road dirt/motor a couple times in my 20's - so that gives me a lil' hope. :-) I just got my bike last week. Waited over 15 weeks. (ordered Feb 11th and arrived May 26th 2021 - 2 - White Step-thru) Yep, it's still in the box because I need to get the accessories. (Helmet and such) Anyways, much to my horror - I seen a post a few days ago - on a Group Facebook page for the Lectric and someone was saying negatives about riding up 'hills' and how the Lectric won't handle it. I've been in the W. Vir rolling hills many times over my lifetime and by-oh-boy did you comfort my sweet friend and I about riding around my hilly County too. She's challenged and never road a bike and so I have to teach her. (Youngin' is only 26) We're both a bit out of shape though after over a year with this Covid looming' around us all and so we just chilled basically - but really was impressed how you took those hills. You talk so calm going up those hills and barely out of breath. Bike certainly does well for you. Encouraging for sure! I was worried about the weight of the bike too - but hauled 50lb feed bags over the years - so when it arrived I thought, "I got this!" Anyways...thanks for comforting us about the hills. I am in Ohio - 90 minutes west of Pittsburg. (Carroll County) Will have to check out McAteers if I head over that way sometime and yep - our gas is one penny less here. :-) Oh, and will have to figure out how you put the Fireworks and Headline News in the video and such. Nice touch. :-) Again, thanks for the post and your voice is comforting too. We enjoyed the videos - so keep em' coming! Glad you're ok. Your girl I am sure was worried about you. :-) Right neighborly of you to share though and quite educational too! Our best to you and yours! :-)

      Hi Pamie! Thanks for the kind words and for stopping by and commenting! I love all the feedback I can get...It keeps me wanting to get out there and ride. As you mentioned my voice...it is quite low and quiet which makes it hard for me to get a word in edgewise around my loud family 😂 Getting out on my bike and being able to talk about my thoughts and ideas has turned out to be a great outlet for me. Until I bought this bike, I hadn't really ridden one for probably 30 years! I bought a mountain bike a few years ago and only rode it around the block a few times during that time. Before COVID, I was in pretty good shape at 240lbs or 250lbs but as I've stated in a lot of my videos, I'm now nearly 300lbs. while working from home and riding up these hills and the distances that I'm going. I really only state this because I think it shows that if the Lectric bike is strong enough to help me up these hills in WV, it's strong enough to carry most anyone that wants to bike ride up pretty steep hills as well. I feel like the ones that say it won't are the ones that expect to ride this bike like a motorcycle and there aren't many ebikes out there that will do that anywhere near this price point. Don't get me wrong, on flat ground you can definitely ride with the throttle but you do need to peddle if you want to go up hills with any decent slope to them. About the fireworks...I was almost done editing and putting the video together and just by chance came across an option to add effects to the video. I was just looking through the options and noticed the fireworks effect and remembered I had mentioned where we watch them at during the 4th of July. I decided to go back and see if I could add them and it worked out really well. So, it was just an option in my editing software. Same thing with the News Alert effect. I used to wreck all the time on bikes when I was much younger so this one was nothing in comparison but it taught me a lesson. But again, thanks for stopping by and saying hi. I know you will take right off on yours and get plenty of enjoyment from it 😊

    Really sorry you crashed, but maybe that's part of the cost of having an ebike. I crashed my Lectric XP just about the same way. In MN, bikes are considered vehicles and can take a whole lane, if need be. Most of the time, bikes stay well to the right. How about WVA?

    • @ReflectionsofOurLife
      @ReflectionsofOurLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Randy! I've crashed regular bikes in a similar manner as well. The problem was that the lip of the sidewalk was higher than the sidewalk and with the grass growing between the two, I didn't see that difference. Hitting the lip at such an angle just took the tire with it and I kept going straight 😂 At least I walked away without a scratch this time and will watch that in the future. It sounds like our laws are about the same as yours in MN. Technically, bikes have a right to the road as if they were a car but around here, there are very few bikers out and about and car drivers don't seem to know that law. If they come up on you on the road they honk and carry on and sometimes pass you so closely that they almost crowd you off the road. So, I just try to stay out of their way as much as I can.

    Sorry you fell. Since I haven't been on a bike in 50 years and get my lectric step through Thursday, can you describe what kind of bump or obstacle you hit as a pointer to avoid? (It would have been neat to circle the area on the map where the wreck occurred. LOL)

    • @ReflectionsofOurLife
      @ReflectionsofOurLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm exited for you to get your bike this week!! LOL...I should plaster that wreck all over the billboards around here. I haven't been on a bike until I got this one for probably at least 30-40 years myself but I used to bike quite a bit back then. The issue I had was that this particular part of sidewalk was put together in two pieces. You have the sidewalk that you walk/ride on and then there was an outside lip that kind of acts like a wall on the outside of the sidewalk I guess to hold the sidewalk so it doesn't slip into the road is what it kind of looks like. The problem is that the lip was about an inch and a half higher than the sidewalk (I guess the sidewalk sunk a little) with a strip of grass that had grown between the two. Because of the grass, I couldn't tell that the lip was higher than what I was riding on. When I came into it at an angle to ride off the sidewalk, the lip just took my front wheel out from under me around the curve and I kept going straight. That was a good lesson learned for sure!!

  • @orvjudd1383
    @orvjudd1383 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I noticed that you do a lot of riding on the sidewalk. It is my opinion that you are at more risk by doing that. Your speedometer averages about 7 mph. The average walking speed is 2-3 mph. There is a great risk of collision with pedestrians exiting buildings in front of you. Reaction time may be a problem. I think you are safer on the street. You have a right to be there any way.

    • @ReflectionsofOurLife
      @ReflectionsofOurLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s true in most instances. But WV is a little different than a lot of places. There are very few bikers that ride around here. Cars don’t seem to be as quick to make way for bikes whether or not the law states as much. I’ve had several close calls and rude remarks while riding on the street here. The other thing is that in this video, it was early Saturday morning and most businesses on the small areas that had businesses were not open at that time so I felt it was much safer to be on the sidewalk. I really do most of my riding on bike trails.

    I've never seen anyone ride on the sidewalk like that. Why not use the street and follow the traffics laws? I'm not sure how they ride in WV but in Pennsylvania we ride in the street and share the road

    • @ReflectionsofOurLife
      @ReflectionsofOurLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mike...I appreciate your feedback. There are a couple of issues that were in play during this video. First, there aren't many bikers around here and people aren't used to "sharing" the road so it can be quite dangerous to be in the street around very many cars since they really aren't used to looking out for bikes. You usually get a lot of bad looks, horn honks, and close calls. The other thing is that this was on an early Sunday morning before the businesses were open, if they opened at all. I've done this several times here in town and have never been questioned by the police even though they pass me quite often. Most bikes here travel the sidewalks especially if there are no buildings close or people walking on them. This is such a small town that it is an accepted practice and doesn't interfere with vehicle progress. I'm sure it is very different than most places but t's just safer to ride slowly on the sidewalks here and it is an accepted thing.
