  • The Haas ST-15Y is a great way to get Y-axis turning productivity into your shop while taking up minimal floor space. And now Haas is adding another really good reason to add an ST-10Y or ST-15Y in your shop. The BMT45 turret option gives increased rigidity and performance in your Y-axis milling and drilling operations.

    I really like running our ST-15 but the only thing that stops us buying another one is the noise from the spindle. We only run up to 2500 rpm. Any faster and the whine from the belt get's too loud. Shame really 😕

      burville 100 - Belt noise on an ST-15 is not something we typically hear about. Any chance you can get me your serial number so we can take a look and see when the machine was built and dig a little deeper into this? Shoot me an email at bofallon@haascnc.com please. We have a 2019 ST-25Y / BMT65 and like all Haas ST's they have an annoying high pitch sound above 2000 rpm, even with collet chuck.
      I checked videos for the ST on TH-cam and all of them have that sound !!!!

      Get high enough rpm on your cog belt and your ears will start bleeding. The only thing that will help is 4" of acoustic foam behind the sheet metal.

    What in the world is that Frankenstein of a holder you're using for the Center Drill...? Do it the right way and mount an ID holder block to the turret...

    I really wish you would've had this turret like two years ago. My work bought a ST-15y and it came with a hybrid turret. How much we talking to come swap out the turret? 😂😅 or is even possible?

      Hi
      How is hybrid turret work out for you machine ? We have chance to get the ST-15Y use 2019 just worry on hybrid is not solid .

    • @xCaptainKlutch97
      @xCaptainKlutch97 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anthonytran9377 it’s still a great little machine. If you’re gonna use a bar feeder on it majority of the time then I would say it’s not as bad. Really the biggest problem with hybrid turrets isn’t about rigidity, it’s actually about clearance. Because on a hybrid turret every other tool spot is VDI and the other is BOT. A lot of times if you’re doing a slug job you won’t be able to use all the tools you want just because one will most likely hit the jaws. I’m not sure what kind of parts you will be machining but if I could just recommend you step it up one notch and get yourself the ST20Y with a BMT65 turret with half index to really maximize your productivity.

    and whats up with the pauses in the first roughing cycle? its something you did on purpose, or the machine thinking of what to do next?;)

      They dwell at the corner to account for deflection from increased tool nose engagement.

  • @mightyOmouse
    @mightyOmouse 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The roughing tool is way too much stopping mid cut and rubbing on the stock. I'm assuming it's a machine drawback, the spindle can't catchup with the required RPMs? Also, the order of operations is wicked. Who turns the last groove and weakens the strength of stock for the operations closer to the face? And facing off in middle?!

    Have you fixed the issue with chips getting inside of the coolant passages in the turret with this new bmt45? I am so tired of having to disassemble the tool blocks on our ds30y to clean the passages out from chips bouncing around and landing in the holes on the backside of the turret.

      I dont know about these turrets, but in the old vdi-turret u can just put a M10 stop screw ..and use a modular coolant hose ..Default coolant passages on holders are useless. You need a very hard and focused beam of coolant on the top of the insert, or it wont have any effect at all. :)

      @@mattiasarvidsson8522 you can set a tolerance on the rpm of the machine. like +/-10% then the machine stops if the rpm is out of range until it's in range. the best solution is to sell or scrap the haas and buy a doosan:)
