Yeah this looks ideal. I keep looking at “camper vans” but most of them seem to aspire to be a boutique hotel on wheels. Each to their own, but to me camping has an element of improvisation. Gotta love the polystyrene shades!
Genius layout. The lounging and sleeping mode are so versatile with many ways of setting it up to cater to our needs. Good height of this vehicle too so we don't have to hunch or stoop low moving around inside. Sink and stove are compact too. Real genius. Kudos! Well done! Cheers and safe journeys always!
The tolerances and the precision are perfect! The bed options show how much thought went into this. Also, the engine is running very smoothly for such an old vehicle.
Wow you Sir are not only an ambassador to DIY and Camper community but also more importantly I think to the Environment. You have made great memories with this vehicle (proven by your pictures) and yet still kept this vehicle in a condition that never aged if not younger (put more life into it). If only people had the same mind set and treated equipment with respect and motivation to repair, refurbish and not just see them as throw away, judged by market value (not useful value) we would have not only a better world, but more affordable machines with many still existing, being passed on after our use (like the generations before us passing on taken cared of and treated as non throw away things) like this. Thank you for sharing and hope it went to great home treated like you did. I wish you well with your health good Sir.

It reminds me of the old Volkswagen campers of the 1960s and 1970s only larger. But our Volkswagen camper couldn't go that fast and didn't come with a bucket. 😅 Wishing you many happy times.

Best mobile home I have ever seen. I loved his toilet. Made me laugh so much. I was also smiling as he showed so many options to create a place to rest or sleep. The bigger the mobile home, the scarier it looks & uninviting to live in. You want a mobile home, why drag a huge proper home all over the roads! Travel light should be the motto. You can't live without washing machine, proper kitchen, beds, T. V. etc., travel via train or bus or plane & rent a room in a motel or whatever. Don't waste fuel on traveling in huge mobile homes! 😊

My family comes from Södermanland south of Stockholm, a parish called Sorunda. Grandfather Sven, his father Anders Olof and his father Anders Peter from Stigtomta när Nyköping born 1832.
Absolutely cleverly thought-out seating and bed concept. I am really impressed! Even though I'm not a fan of putting my bed together every night and stowing it away again in the morning. In any case, I'm really very positively surprised at how cleverly little space has been used here. And anyone who has been on longer trips away from 5-star campsites will appreciate such a compact vehicle. The compact vehicle pays off in the Alps or the Pyrenees at the latest. Not to mention small, narrow villages that you may have to or want to drive through. The only thing I would miss is a better toilet. The bucket concept is too spartan for me. But a more modern dry separation toilet hardly takes up any more space and is also easy to move around. So replacing the bucket shouldn't be a problem. And showering only outside the vehicle is perhaps a problem when wild camping in a city, otherwise it's not something I would really miss in the vehicle.
Thanks for watching and commenting. In the past, there was a 4 meter rule at an extra low price on ferries across the Mediterranean and this one was classified there. I used to have a shower just inside the door, like a tent, and the shower there is double, so there is extra standing height, and the floor had drainage at the time. The shower worked well, for example I took a shower in the middle of Cairo before a visit to the embassy.
So much uses for small space., so efficient,so effective. For bath, so the soap and water then wipe like the old day bathing. If a person is not high maintenance then they can live practically any condition. What a man❤❤❤
Thanks, shower is now outside-long hose, but just inside side door is duble floor and before ther was folderbar shower curtins there for inside shower- I once took one just outside ambesy in Cairo before a meting there.
This thing will last forever with simple mechanics maintenance. I liked the quiet cupboard doors best. If you stay slim and agile, you will have simple joy for years to come.

Tackar ja allt har sin tid och man blir inte yngre. Bilen kommer nog leva vidare länge till, de nya ägarna har nyligen avslutat en längre trip på ca 10.000Km och bilen rustas nu om för nya äventyr.

well now, I live in eastern Canada and actually owned a Laplander! Bought it in university for the cool factor, but realized that living going to school out of province made the trip home too long as the top speed was pretty low! Eventually I found the 'van ' top and the PTO winch from another Laplander and much later traded it to a friend for a 240 estate. I still miss it but its new owner has loved it more than I ever could. Apparently the Nova Scotia Power corporation had bought them to access remote parts of the provinces power system. They sold them off later to the public. Between myself and its new owner it now has a B20 dual sidedraft engine and different Dana diffs to improve top speed.. The mechanic in Nova Scotia who was a former Volvo tech called it the "Swedish Tank"! Greetings from Prince Edward Island Canada and thanks for the memories!
Was that not the old militery version with b18 and lower 1.36 gearing in transfercase? Mine was the later from production 78-80 with b20 and gear for rod use with 1:1 in transfercase. "240 is a better alternativ for long runs. I had in the 80 before my c202 an volvo 145 with 70 cm extended roof and rebuild for offroad desart driving, "a one person camper" did 3 long trips to arabian with it and a lot of euro trips have visit all countrys on this sid of eart only missed albania and portogale. The Laplander is a really small car, but it's incredible how well everything in there fits together .. all you need for living is there .. except the proper shower of course, but washing can also be done outside. Well done anyway 👍
He has kept this vehicle going for over forty years. It purrs like a lion and he kept all the old parts. It still looks new. I salute you sir!!!!!
Oh and he added new tech on top of that!

They are only use when sleeping in cold night for less condensation.
I think these shades would work way better than the thin double sided reflecting insulation van lifers use. And it probably works as sound insulation.

Honestly, one of the best, well- thought out kitchen, bed, eating area combos I've ever seen. So smart!

I had in the 80 before my c202 an volvo 145 with 70 cm extended roof and rebuild for offroad desart driving, "a one person camper" did 3 long trips to arabian with it and a lot of euro trips have visit all countrys on this sid of eart only missed albania and portogale. Thanks, what not seen on video is that cooker/ sink and table are same hight, so it's easy to work on when prepering dinner.

Beautiful when function defines form. This looks almost perfect. There are few places where one can truly off road but a on road version of this would be amazing. I wonder what the cost is?
It work good on road and are gear ration for highway and good fouel economy.

The Laplander is a really small car, but it's incredible how well everything in there fits together .. all you need for living is there .. except the proper shower of course, but washing can also be done outside. Well done anyway 👍
