In the commentary on the DVD, they were wondering how to design Poison Ivy to make her sexy but not too sexy at the same time...to be honest, they pretty much nailed it !

My favorite costume from this show is the Almost Got Em flashback. Black costume. It’s only once in the whole show.
They could just do what they did with her in the last couple of comic iterations. Make her fat, unattractive, and unable to sell any comics.
For the scene where Poison Ivy slinks out of a restaurant, and all the men turn to watch her go, the Sunrise animators could not animate her derriere to look as seductive as the producers wanted. The task finally fell to storyboard artist Chen-Yi Chang, who animated the sequence at Warner Bros with cels shipped overseas for Sunrise to film.

Some of the best episodes actually about Poison Ivy. I still remember Robin told her off, “Lady… you’re insane.” Her insanity gives more sympathy to the audience.

The only way we could imagine what Tim Burton wanted was on the DVD/BluRay. There's an interview of De Williams who claimed he was gonna go with a more flamboyant performance, and Tim Burton on the commentary wanted to explore Harvey's "black and white" dilemma. And knowing Tim Burton for making his villains have literal features like Joker with a literal permit grin, Penguin with literal penguin features, and Catwoman having literal cat abilities, I wouldn't be surprised if Burton made him literally black and white. One side literally all dressed in black and his scarred side all white, including his scars being bleached white.

Which i would’ve loved to have seen Tommy Lee do a more serious Harvey as him as an actor was great for it but he let his ego get the best of himself and tried to out crazy Jim Carry which just didn’t work for Harvey

I think at first they were trying to keep it more realistic and make it so she was a human who used tools and science rather than having inborn powers but as the show went along they decided to play around a bit more and let her be more superhuman
I thought her Druidic powers did not manifest till much later in the comics. Cause the New Adventures season gave her a redesign complete with new powers.

According to Bruce Timm, "It wasn't intentional, but the Venus Fly-trap creature looks like a vagina with teeth. Originally, it looked like Audrey II, and I said, 'Naww, let's not do that, what other kind of plant can we do? What if it's like a big snow-peapod?' I started sketching it out, and stopped when I realized what it looked like, but it worked. In a way, it's a very good visual metaphor for what she is, a man-killer."

So just so you guys know, this was the third episode in the run. Hence the “I saw a Giant Bat” gag. Batman has only been around for ten Years but the show is in its first three weeks. So the 1989 references have to be made.
Billy Dee was going to become Two Face at the end of the second Keating/Burton Batman. He was written out and the bad guy changed to Christopher Walken's Max Shreck. The electrocution scene would have turned him into Two Face. Then Burton was fired and Joe Schumacher was brought in.
This was untrue. There were only three scripts made with Sam Hamm, Daniel Waters, and Wesley Strict, and NONE of them had Harvey in either of them. Daniel Waters even confirmed on a podcast that it wasn't true.
These fan fiction level urban legends need to DIE.

It’s interesting to me how Poison Ivy seems more unhinged in this episode than in other appearances; I don’t know if it’s because she’s more human looking or not super-powered, though it could be the way they have her go through emotions so quickly and just how they drew her in some scenes. Either way, it’s great and so much fun
I'm pretty sure the order you guys are going in will have the Two-Face origin before any episodes Harvey appears as Two-Face.

Batman's exchange with the severely frightened escapee is mirrored on the Batman: The Brave And The Bold episode "The Super-Batman Of Planet X" (where Kevin Conroy guest stars as the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh) by the villain Rohtul, who, due to being held in ice, stutters "Who are you?" as the escapee does, and Earth Batman who says, "Your worst nightmare-A Batman with superpowers".
The newspaper featuring Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent was reused nineteen years later in the Young Justice episode "Downtime". It is seen in Artemis's and Paula's apartment and the banner in the background reads "Future Site of the new Gotham Penitentiary".
I also liked The Batman show. Underrated in my opinion. They changed up some villains but I liked it for the most part and I love the intro, at least the first one before they changed it.
yeah, the new takes on Joker, Freeze and Riddler were pretty cool and newer ones like Firefly etc. were there. I also liked the Batmobil design.

Billy actually did become Two-Face in the LEGO Batman Movie I believe and possibly in some comics they made to continue the Keaton movies, but not sure if those ever got released or if they were just planned.
I think I remember some interview or story about this episode where the showrunners claimed that they didn't _mean_ for the design of that Venus Flytrap to turn out so....yonic, but it fit so well that they couldn't be mad about it.

Production inconsistencies
When Gordon answers the phone after Dent is poisoned, the cord moves through the phone.
Also, both times when Gordon picks up the phone to be informed of the prison break and Dent's hospitalization, he says, "What?!" much too quickly for the person on the other side to fully explain the situations to him.
The Doctor repeats the line "Get the EKG and move him into OR, ICU Number 3 Stat" twice
In his initial struggle with the plant, Batman snaps a few of its teeth. The later fight shows all the plant's teeth intact.
In the end credits, Melissa Manchester and Neil Ross are credited for additional voices, but accidentally read "Melissa Manchester as Neil Ross".
I kinda like how she gets the plant powers later. Shows that the plant-obsession came first and the powers exasperated it here.
Robin is about, but Dick Grayson is at college for most of the show, so Robin only appears in episodes when Dick comes home for the holidays.

the order doesn't really matter to me, though i am glad this episode came first, let's get to know Harvey Dent first, and his friendship with Bruce Wayne before....
when this episode first aired, i had heard of Harvey Dent (batman 89), but not ..... and it was a revelation, i had never seen a character change, Harvey Dent was his own character, established and complete , he even interacts with other regular characters and some of Batman's Rogues before.... (i never knew characters could change, I was like 11 and never read comics)
it is very different than most other characters, when we meet Bruce Wayne, he's already Batman....when we meet Dick Greyson, it's the origin story for Robin, same for Barbara Gordon (i think) and for all other characters (they are already their alter ego or the episode serves as their origin)
...imagine if after all the interactions with Commissioner Gordon, something happens and he becomes a new character, or Detective Bullock, or Lucius Fox, or Alfred (who does have a past now, but i'm not sure when this story was written if he did, even in comics, other than being the Wayne's Butler), or imagine if Harley Quinn was met as her real name and as a therapist before she has even met The Joker (and certainly before her change), and add the fact that she interacts with other characters (even Batman, positive or negative)
This is not an origin story for Two Face, it's an origin (more an introduction) for the character of Harvey Dent and at no point is anything that alludes to his future is seen (so later on, i'm like what the heck happen, making it all the more tragic)

From what I remember, Robin would just be in the show sometimes, and other times he wouldn’t be and no one would mention him. I don’t think it was ever explained where he was when he wasn’t there. I think the writers would just use Robin whenever they had a story for him, and just forget he existed whenever they didn’t.
It's because he was in college and he could only be Robin every so often.

I always thought Dr. Pamela Isley would be the perfect partner for Bruce Wayne. They are both obsessive, passionate and value life. She is also very motherly and nurturing to children, while he is father and teacher. Imagine what she could do as nature preservationist with Bruce´s resources. If he could convince her to not outright kill people who destroy environment and leave them to Batman and police they could really work. She can handle Harley´s mood swings after all, Bruce is far more stable. Unfortunately it is canon that he never believed she was genuinely attracted to him as Batman, he thinks she only is trying to manipulate him with her constant flirting, while she sees him as possibly only man she is attracted to and is worthy of respect as Batman and a former friend as Bruce whom she remembers fondly and appreciates his charity endeavors.

In most version, Poison Ivy is like the most powerful vilain woman of all time having a crazy connection to the Green like Swamp Thing...In here she makes a little more sense, being a crazy botanist using her knowledge...Not sure which version i like better however...What do you guys think ?
It depends on what they're going for honestly. If she's just supposed to be a Batman villain I think something more low level like this works better since it doesn't stretch the believability that he can win that much. I could see a version of Ivy like this one in a sequel to The Batman, for instance. But if Ivy's more on her own and not supposed to be a pure villain, like in the Harley Quinn cartoon, having more power gives her more she can do, especially when interacting with the wider DC universe.
Definitely prefer her with plant superpowers, but she can at least plant crazy stuff like giant man eating plants here. She eventually gets more plant powers later in the dcau but i don't think they ever explain why
