Aaron's mad that TMNT 2 is not high up om David Warner's filmography. But he asked who Helen Slater is?! Dude, are you serious? Among her other roles: Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in the Supergirl movie (1984). Lara El, Superman's biological mother on Smallville season 3. Eliza Danvers, Alex's mother and Kara's stepmom on the Supergirl series (2015-2021).
I love seeing how Bruce and Tali first met and then teasing Ra’s is great hope they’d react to the stuff after this like Superman , Static shock & Justice league
This episode went through several different retakes, according to Bruce Timm. "The distortion vertigo sequences weren't disorienting enough so we did retakes. While we were waiting for them, we did effects in video with a computer that were real wobbly and quite nauseating. It worked great, but we did that just to get the show on the air. When we got the retakes back, the film editors cut them into the episode, but dropped the video distortion effects on the whole sequence and that ran. We told them to put the effects back in, which is the version now airing."
David Warner is the definitive Ra's Al Ghul for me, EVEN MORE than Kevin Conroy's Batman. "How did they cover over that hole?" "How did HE hear that?!" I've watched this episode many, many times and I've NEVER considered either of those banger questions Aaron!
I think Talia has some sort of ear piece or something, because she was talking with her father. So whatever she was using I guess it allowed her father to listen in as well.
I love how the end of this episode feels almost like a reference to the 1989 Batman, what with a clock tower, helicopter that has a rope ladder, and a villain who falls to their "death".
David Warner also played the alternative Third Doctor in Doctor Who for Big Finish audios and was also in the Tenth Doctor animated story Dreamland, the Eleventh Doctor TV story Cold War and a bunch of ig Finish audios.
Bruce Timm has mentioned that Twitch's appearance bears a passing resemblance to Tim Burton. However, since storyboard artist Brad Rader was working ahead of the character designers, he designed Twitch during the storyboard process based off of Dustin Hoffman's portrayal of Ratso in 1969's "Midnight Cowboy".
this episode is one Of my favorites as a kid. It also foreshadows future events that are yet to come So get ready guys it's gonna be an interesting ride.
I remember Michael York best as Logan from "Logan's Run". David Warner has always had a commanding presence as a villain. I remember him as far back as Tron.
David Warner was a very talented actor who appeared in so many classic films. You guys should absolutely react to Time After Time (1979) with David Warner, H.G. Wells chases Jack the Ripper to modern-day San Francisco in a time machine he built. It also stars Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen. There are even things in the movie that are directly referenced in the Back to the Future movies. Michael York played Logan in the movie Logan's Run (1976) which is a very interesting post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie that you guys should also check out. Please seriously consider doing reactions to these sci-fi classics. In fact reacting to older classics could be a cool niche. So sad that most people today only think of David Warner from TMNT 2 or Titanic when he has so many other great roles and amazing movies.
Warner portrayed both romantic leads and villainous characters across a range of media, including The Ballad of Cable Hogue, Straw Dogs, Cross of Iron, The Omen, Holocaust, The Thirty Nine Steps, Time After Time, Time Bandits, Tron, A Christmas Carol, Portrait in Evil, Titanic, Mary Poppins Returns and various characters in the Star Trek franchise, in the films Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, and the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. In 1981, he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Special for his portrayal of Pomponius Falco in the television miniseries Masada. He died on 24th July 2022, aged 80. So yeah, that bloke.
I still, honestly feel that, at least for TAS, Ra's was batman's most formidable foe. Joker was the most well known, but Ra's was the most dangerous, and one of the most interesting.
Written by the late comic writer, Len Wein. One of the best looking animated episodes ever. The intrigue of it all and Batman going international to fight crime was cool. Never heard of Vertigo the villian before this, only the Vertigo imprint of DC comics. Waited a long time to see what Ra's Al Ghul & Talia were all about. I'd only read re-prints of Batman dealing with The League of Assassins (Society of Shadows). I knew of the actors voicing these characters, David Warner as Ra's & Helen Slater (the Original Supergirl) as Talia from years earlier. Great casting of those voices as they were what i heard, whenever i thought of or read rhe comics. This would be the first of a few episodes with the Head of The Demon and his daughter. Showing you why they are not to be trifled with. Later on, the late, great Warner would play Jor-El on Lois & Clark:The New Adventures of Superman (1993-1997) and Helen Slater would play a mom to superheroes twice: once for Smallville (2001-2011) and again for Supergirl (2015-2021).
11:40 - 13:11 I mean considering how easy it is to write down and edit pages on IMDB, Aaron probably could just hop onto the site real quick and just put down that he was in TMNT2. The biggest note I can think of is when Sonic Prime was getting developed and it had SatAM/Archie characters jotted down and it turned out to be fake. Mostly in concerns of Sally and Bunnie showing up in the show, but for some reason they put down that Sally would only appear in one episode while Bunnie would appear in two, but only those two members of the Freedom Fighters along with Locke of all characters were """"leaked"""" to appear in the show. So yeah, I have a hard time trusting IMDB with any of its posts. I WOULD say unless it would be with older movie and show entries but as Aaron proves, even THAT isn't a reliable factor.
I think it come back in Batman Beyond, and yet again it wipes memories and doesn't kill them, even though it 100% looks like they wanted it to be lethal
Due to scheduling, board artist Brad Rader was working ahead of the design crew by a couple weeks. As a result, Brad used the Statue of Liberty directly in the storyboards without doing anything to alter it. This drew ire from background designer Ted Blackman, who felt he was ham-strung aesthetically.
I think an Alfred Hitchcock film series would be great for the channel. Thus episode has a bunch of visual homages to Hitchcock's 1958 masterpiece 'Vertigo'. It'd be great to see you guys watching the likes of Rear Window, Strangers on a Train, Rope, Vertigo, Psycho, and I'd probably say North by Northwest would be the most up your guy's alley.
Talia debuts in a very visually interesting episode. And yes, David Warner is awesome in whatever role he's given. When he's The Lobe in Freakazoid it's almost like he's deliberately overdoing his own voice.
Ra’s al Ghul and Talia make their first appearance in B: TAS. This is a fun episode and set up Batman’s future adventures with Ra’s and Talia. I’m looking forward to the guys future reactions to Ra’s episodes.

1:06 Gotham was never supposed to be Chicago, where have you gotten that information? I'm guessing that you are refering to that the Dark Knight trilogy was filmed mostly there, but that has nothing to do with Gotham lore. Gotham is a city on the east coast in the DC universe.
Yeah I’ve heard multiple descriptions. Metropolis is New York City during the day or Toronto. Gotham is more like Detroit at its worst or New York City at night in the 70s.
