Seeing the robots just fall to the floor in the elevator was a great shot & how they moved was so creepy lol. Barbra was awesome wonder if we’ll see more of her

This is Batman's first time fighting creepy androids so naturally he'd be a little freaked out, especially seeing Ronda's exposed Terminator face. Barbara being a capable ally to Bruce despite not having a costume yet. Definitely an episode that took advantage of being allowed to do things to robots that they can't show happening to humans.

i love the 1920-1950s sci-fi robot design, the human ones are skeletal, the trash guards are vaguely humanoid, with thin arms and legs and other body parts that are some random shape (rectangular, triangular), other bots are random legs, tentacles and eyes, the laser and energy discharges, the fact they are all chrome, matte finished steel , and the big mother brain, building sized super computer...i love it all

A lot of classic science fiction stories had a giant computer with a name ending in "-AC," because a lot of the earliest computers had names ending in "-AC," like UNIVAC. The AC stands for "analogue computer," because that's what they were (as opposed to the original computers--human computers, like the women in Hidden Figures). But then transistors were invented, people started using digital computers instead, and "AC" stopped meaning anything specific and just became the letters sci-fi computer names end with.

The producers of this show had to fight tooth and nail to release this episode due to all the on-screen violence and creepy robots. Glad they manage to do it and they are all G’s.

I love how old scifi stories like this or the Terminator franchise had things backwards. They assumed robots would be able to eventually look perfectly human but couldn't act the part properly coming across as cold and unemotional. A few decades later and we've got AI programs that can sound convincingly human but are nowhere close to making super realistic prosthetic bodies that are human sized.

Or as my grandad always said “Red sky at night shepherds delight, red sky in the morning shepherds huts on fire”

Batman vs. A power-mad AI was a cool enough concept.
Part 2 of this was pretty good.
The plan to replace city officials with androids is diabolically clever.
Barbara Gordon really shows out and she's as close to becoming Batgirl as possible.
    Y'all mentioned Terminator a lot.
    It's definitely a influence.
But wait till you see the episode called "His Silicone Soul" with some extremely serious drama.

Lying flat on a falling elevator won't necessarily save your life, but depending on the distance and severity of the accident it will help prevent the most serious injuries. I reiterate it is not an absolute solution, just the best of choices in a deadly situation

This is the episode which shows that, despite popular belief, Batman doesn't have a strict no killing rule. He's happy to kill sentient AI and other intelligent creatures, and more animal like creatures such as parademons. He even just straight up shot Darkseid dead in one comic.

@The Weavile Even then he does kill/try to kill a few different villains in this series. He dooms Clayface to death by stopping his treatment, kills the sentient AI Batman clone, ties Mr Freeze to a nuke and drops him in the ocean, and probably a couple others.

@@Mansplainer2099-jy8psThat’s an extreme & exaggerated example. That’s just helping someone from a crime you just so happen to be witnessing. You wouldn’t be in trouble for that, but you probably would be if you watched & did nothing to help or alert anyone.
Batman takes the law into his own hands actively going around searching for crime to stop instead of giving the police the info to handle it. Not saying I have a problem with it. I don’t mind more savage criminals taking a beating but that’s just what the law is.

    • @Mansplainer2099-jy8ps
      @Mansplainer2099-jy8ps ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpiritxEnigma _"That’s an extreme & exaggerated example."_
No, it is not, it was chosen very specifically, I asked momolilya1308 for their definition of "vigilante". In _actual reality_ a vigilante is someone who decides on and delivers punishment rather than letting their society do it. Example: I see the rape about to go down and I crush the would-be-rapist's crown jewels under my heel or just break his legs in a way so that he'll very likely never walk properly again.
_"That’s just helping someone from a crime you just so happen to be witnessing. You wouldn’t be in trouble for that, but you probably would be if you watched & did nothing to help or alert anyone."_
Sure, but that's beside the point.
_"Batman takes the law into his own hands actively going around searching for crime to stop instead of giving the police the info to handle it."_
      A. There's no such thing as "law" and "crime", those are myths made up for the sake of civilization. Same with "murder" and us having names and social security numbers and "owning" things. Useful but it's pretend. Emperor's New Clothes, if you will.
      B. You're mixing two things together. Searching for "crime" to stop is in itself not taking "the law" into your own hands and withholding info of specific "crime" is certainly in itself not taking "the law" into your own hands. Harley Quinn can sit at home grumpy because the Joker didn't want her to come to his current heist and she toys with the idea of anonymously tipping off the police about it, her deciding against it is not her taking the law into her own hands.
      C. My point to Calvin is that this version of Batman is not a vigilante as he specifically states to Sewer King: "I don't pass sentence. That's for the courts. But this time I'm SORELY tempted to do the job myself." At risk of being repetitive, a vigilante is really about not letting "the courts" do their job, not about letting "the police" not do theirs (although of course I'm not saying "Yeah, obstruct the cops, thumbs up!", I'm specifically talking about what the term "vigilante" is about).
