It’s awesome that you essentially have some of the sp303 and 404 fx in the computing world, but they don’t seem to be midi mappable in (at least) Ableton. Would love to use some of these in a live performance setting but it isn’t really feasible without midi mapping. Any thought to allowing this Roland? Thanks 🙏🏾
Oh wow. I love this. Been a Roland fan since D-50 S550. I have a P330 and some MKS sound fonts I’m going to try the chorus of course. If I get my hands on a JD990 I’ll be happy. Glad you guys did the JD800. My future keyboard is the new Fantom. I had an X6 but the new Fantom with Ableton integration is a no brainer. 🔥🔥🔥
This is great! Some of these fx could be really useful for when I need a good chorus, tremolo, phaser or delay on keyboards or guitar, definitely gonna try it. Also, can't wait for that JD-800 Legendary plugin, Hope you get the filters and the DAC's effect on the sound right, so we get something as close to the original as the D-50 plugin was to the hardware. Many effects available and many parameters to tweak. Is each and every parameter well documented with an brief explanation as to why it exists (i.e., use cases)?
Roland Parameter manuals tend not to say much as far as use cases, you're expected to know already or be smart enough to figure it out yourself. But for those of us that aren't experts, some use case examples would be quite nice, right?
I'm not sure any product, hardware of software, comes with what you are asking. Parameters such as feedback on a delay and depth on a chorus are so common that one only needs to conduct the simplest research to understand what they do. If every effect, synthesiser and drum machine came with detailed explanations for each parameter there would be an awful lot of repetition. May I suggest using a search engine such as Google to look for specific queries?
@@Claidheambmor I agree, spend time researching the options using whatever information is available on the internet. For example, Google suggests several TH-cam videos about using the CE-1 including parameter tricks of the masters.
Nice collection of effects. And they sound good. There's just one optimization I can see so far: propose the dry/wet parameter on each and every effect. If you can read me @RolandChannel ;)
@@Jason75913 Hi, if we just look at the effects displayed on this video, is the dry/wet control the "bal" knob on the JUNO-106 Chorus (0:10)? the "INTENSITY" knob on the Tape Echo (0:13)? which knob on the Auto Wah (0:25)? And so on...
@@VEsound nevermind, I didn't actually look at the interfaces I'd guess then that the dry/wet knob varies on most. But you can also put FX on a Send track, which also gets you wet/dry balance with the possibility to further process the post effect itself with EQ or whatever you wish (independent of the instrument/audio/drum track whose output it receives), which is what I often do.

I totally agree a dry/wet is needed on everything.. one solution, if you use ableton, is to create one using an effects rack, there are loads videos online that explain it in more details.
I own Zenology Pro and all of its expansions (which costed me 700 bucks), is Zenology FX only available with a roland cloud subscription? Will I be able to keep the FX standalone version if my subscription were to end since I already bought the lifetime key for Zenology Pro?
Roland has started putting friggin' Alexa in their keyboards, they're down with the surveillance capitalism agenda. Musicians should only buy from smaller companies. Sure, it costs more, but the hidden costs of going with large corporations now are disturbing to say the least. #resist
@@JackNance22 Yes, surveillance capitalism is huge, investors don't want to put their money behind products that don't harvest data from the user (us). There's no Alexa in the Juno 60, and it's the real thing soundwise, Roland has gone the wrong way.

For the last days, I have tried to find the orignal factory patches for both the Jupiter 8 and Juno 60. Even, though there are some original factory presets in both synths, when will the company release the original factory banks for both Jupiter 8 and Juno 60 and not just the Juno 106?
Like the roland cloud virtual synths, I am expecting for the Roland's virtual effects, with it's user interface that show their classic interfaces. I wish for RE-201, SDE-2000, SEQ-331, DEP-5, and many more Roland's classic effects. I am glad that it is all in this ZENOLOGY but I wish for the individual classic effects with their UIs, like what Roland did in the past with UAD.
Not a bad effect plugin. This is off the subject, but Roland, why release Zenology Pro with no reverb effect or no wav import? You don't mention this in the specs/feature documentation for this Vst. I nearly bought Zenology Pro but changed my mind once I noticed this.
No reverb on Zenology Pro either. R they stupid? Your not going to get the sound of the originals without the right reverb that made them. Another sales tactic. In 2022 watch for "Welcome to Zenology Reverb!"

Zenology Pro Rant.......I see where their going with the vst and it's not a bad idea, however, why would you make a synth vst without any reverb effect? You would be hard pressed to find a vst in the $250 price range without any reverb effect, or without the ability to import your own tones. Making your own synth sounds isn't really appealing either because you can't add reverb to the freakin' sound. I suspect in the future they may add other effects along with wav import then charge extra to upgrade or Zenology pro is simply just meant to be an entry level synth, attempting to entice one to buy their hardware synths. Imo, as far as the giant japenese music companies, when it comes to software Korg is the top dog. Seems like they have a better business model. Yamaha may as well ditch halion and come out with Yamaha branded vst's.
@@Mista_Terrific81 I agree Korg vst's are awesome. I've done too much work in Halion to lose it though. Gotta admit it has a great sound reproduction quality compared to all the other samplers I've tried. I get a lot more exactness out of it when I sample a keyboard. Sampletank, Kontakt and all the rest just don't cut it. Halion has ZERO CPU usage compared to the rest too. It's interface sucks really bad though but once you get used to it you can live with it.

I'm like the only person I know that makes music that is willing to give Halion a chance. I also agree that using samples is Kontakt and Sampletank don't sound as good. What would be really cool of Korg updated their Triton Extreme vst with wav import and the sequencer from the original Triton Extreme. That's like the ultimate Synth hardware re-creation. Sure one could just open a daw and use vst, but sometimes I just like using the stand alone, it gives more of a hardware feel to digital music creation, it feels a little more natural, if that makes sense. For some reason, when it comes to hardware re-creation we tend to get a sequencer with the drum machines but not with the synths.

The Cloud has gotten much better of late. Mine hasn't hung or glitched out since a few updates ago. And you don't have to just subscribe to get their products (even though to be honest is the best bang for your buck to get access to everything Roland has to offer on the Cloud); all of their products have buy license options. Zenology FX is FREE to drive till December after that I'm sure it will go on sale.

It seems mostly focused on legacy effects. Well that’s fine for some, but how about more inventive stuff.. The whole thing seems mostly like a 'greatest hits' subscription. Hardly very exciting. Besides subscription models sucks.
Yes - there are 2, 3, 4 tap & multitap delays, reverse delays, Time control delays, dimension D and the classic Space Echo. And also speaker simulations with adjustable mic positions. Reverb is just another type of delay effect.
If these are the same FX in Fantom, FA, and the MC-707, they sound a bit dated versus modern VSTs. They're not bad, but there's definitely room for improvement. I find the discrepancy odd given Roland owns Boss, who is boss at FX, lol

@@RogerBrenon After messing with the reverbs on my FA-06, Roland reverb is not so bad afterall. Not a favorite, though, I still prefer Raum, Supermassive, RV500, and Specular Tempus. That "Diffusion" setting really ruins it, and it is at max by default, so turning it down to zero makes a big improvement, then the "Tone" setting can warm it up or brighten it up adequately to get a nicer sound. The depth and overall tone it can have is very nice with Diffusion off. Zenbeats has a passable "multi" reverb of its own, I haven't compared it to my FA reverb and MC-707 "Integra Reverb". Should be fun in a moment of boredom. 2024 Update: the better reverbs I have in other gear and in my PC really make Roland reverbs boring to tolerate. However, I have since discovered that Roland reverbs must be vintage-modeled reverbs. They take after old Lexicon and whatever units, but in much lower fidelity. The Source Audio Ventris reverb pedals sounds just like the reverbs in my Roland gear, but in much higher fidelity. The Ventris is supposed to be modeled after vintage Lexicon and whatever else reverbs.

I would imagine after the "Free till December" promotion runs out on Zenology FX then you would have to purchase a license or start up a subscription.
