My HOW TO ACTUALLY GROW YOUR NAILS video is finally here! This has got to be one of the most requested videos from you guys ever! I had done some nail care videos back in the olden days, i.e. the no-face/no-voice simplynailogical era, but a lot has changed since then. The goal of this video is to cut through the bs "hacks", gimmicks and vague advice and give you ACTUALLY HELPFUL information on how to grow your nails. This video saved my nails!! I get very nervous due to anxiety and my nails always paid the price. Now, every time I want to bite my nails I grab my oil pen and oil my nails. Note regarding oil: A substance that only sits on the surface (personally I like Aquaphor or Vaseline) can be very useful AFTER your apply a penetrating oil like jojoba. The oil that sits on the surface can't soak in, but it will trap in your natural oils (or the jojoba you applied right before!). I live in a really dry climate, and it's been a life saver, because the dry air and wind will strip all your oils right after you apply them.

I have had a bad habit of biting my nails and hangnails my entire life (my mom tried every trick in the book - didnt work) so i could NEVER get them to grow long unless i choked out the money for acrylics. When the fakes came off my nails had grown underneath but were so thin and flimsy, they broke or peeled off within a week. I watched this video the first time eary this year and after following it for only a month or two my nails not only grew our finally but they were stronger, easier to paint AND for the first time in my life my hands were not chopped to hell with hangnails. I picked up all the DIY stuff for the nail pens and always know where to find one. This video is one of if not my FAVORITE on this channel. THANK YOU!!!

As a life long nail biter I finally have gone 10 days without biting my nails. They grew pretty quickly on their own but still not going over my top of my fingers skin! But I bite my upper lip if I really really feel like biting. I know I’m starting one more habit but I haven’t bit my nails! I’m trying to hard to just find a way to distract with self from my nails and now lip. Like playing with something like silly putty. I’m really grateful for this video! This video actually helps! I’ve been growing my nails for 6 months and I’ve been working on growing them and now they are about 21 mm now thanks to Simply! I had a very bad nail biting problem. Now that is now longer here! If you have a nail biting problem, use a pencil or pen it’s a life saver for you beautiful nails gurl:)

I did not dislike it but it is very unhelpful for the person who actually has a problem with this.
Most of these don't really apply to me because my nails are so short that there is no way it will break because of these reasons

I came back to comment on this video that at first I wasn't super trusting of your advice, only because a lot of influencers try to promote products and life hacks that just don't work, but I decided to give it a go. I do have really thin weak ass nails so I have been using horse tail hardener but I am still applying oil as well! I've also been applying just the oil to my toe nails because they were pretty icky and raggedy. It does work!!! My finger nails are strong and healthy, and not snagging or chipping at all and I feel like I can work with my hands confidently and comfortable without worrying now about messing them up. My toes are looking cleaner, healthier and prettier, just overall these hacks are a life saver!

This is really helpful! I just broke out of my habit of biting my nails after leaving them under acrylic nails for a couple weeks. Ive been biting my nails since I was very young so this is a huge confidence boost for me!

Motivation to stop biting your nails (from someone who has been clean for over a month)
- Imagine typing a text and sometimes hearing your nails tap against the screen (it feels so good NGL)
- having space for nail art (that is, assuming your nails are like half a centimetre long like mine were)
- imagine all the cool nail shapes you can try!
- the compliments you'll get from from people who know you had nubs
(Fyi, any gender can have long nails. I'm a guy and I'm growing out my nails to have cool stiletto nails, you can still have fierce nails even if you're not a woman!)

I actually used these tips to prevent myself from peeling my nails (same as biting nails, except using the nails of another finger to peel at the nail). I don't really break my nails, but peeling them has been an issue of mine, usually something I end up doing when I get nervous. I've recently been doing a lot of nail art, even having just one hand done prevents me from peeling the nails of the other hand (since peeling the nails of one hand also damages the nails of the other). My nails aren't very long, I clip them short for my own convenience, but these tips really helped to prevent me from trying to damage my nails. I've very much reduced the amount of peeling I do by at least 10x. I only ever peel my nails when I either don't have nail polish on and/or I get very stressed.

Thank you for this video, including the nail oil thing. I watched this video a year ago, and I actually got the nail oil stuff, including a little brushy pen. I got one for me, and a pen for my mum. She’s been using it longer and more often than I have, and she’s so happy. It’s helped her cuticles especially, and it helps a bit with the strength and brittleness of her nails, and she’s happy. So thank you :)
Plus, turns out jojoba and vitamin e is good for the face; it’s moisturizing, it’s lightweight, it’s a humectant, and best part? It actually helps with sebum levels a bit: it’s non comedogenic, so it doesn’t clog the pores. It’s so light, it just goes into the pores and helps break down the sebum a bit, and since the skin is moisturized, the skin doesn’t feel the need to produce more oil. At least from what I read, still reading on it in case some studies come up that disprove it. All I know is is that it feels good on my face, doesn’t break me out, and helps with my beard, cause the dead skin around it is a pain in the ass, even when I exfoliate.

Okay I may be a little late to the punch here but if anyone buys the cuticle oil nail pens off Amazon, do not be fooled- THEY ARE REFILLABLE! I just refilled mine, actually. There are a lot of great TH-cam videos on how to take them apart without breaking them. You just pull off the end clear part, twist it back down, take off the brush end, and put your oil in! Admittedly, they are pretty hard to refill and take a lot of patience, but I use rubber gloves to help improve my grip!
I was just going to watch a video about that next. I have several of those pens, and while they are cheap to replace, I don't like throwing things away before it's necessary. I hate wasting things, especially when they're plastic and not biodegradable.

not that good of an idea sadly, as hand sanitizer has acetone in it and will dry out your nails putting them at risk of breakage
cristine will never see it but i’m thankful for that video to this day. i was biting my nails for my entire life (i’m 25) and wasn’t able to stop because i would sorta “black out” when i’m nervous and “wake up” when my fingers would start hurting because of biting. it also affected my teeth. i used to watch your videos and be jealous of your nails thinking i’ll never have anything like that. two months ago i decided it was enough. i was tired of hiding my nails from people so they wouldn’t think that i’m messy and gross. i started following your advices and now i’m show off my nails to EVERYONE, i’m so proud of them!! i love to paint them and take care of them! (i also paint every hand different color). thank you from the bottom of my heart, soon i’ll start trying out nail art to see what i like and can actually do on my nails (they are narrow and curvy like yours)!!

p.s.s.: i was able to stop biting my nails by wearing nail polish so i would bite and scrape off nail polish instead of torturing my poor nails. as they got longer, i was able to paint them so well that i wouldn’t want to mess it up! sometimes i still mess with my polish when i’m nervous but i don’t bite my nails and that was the goal 💛

I have extremely short nails/opening cans just pull uncomfortably on my nails when they exist, so ive been using a spoon/butter knife for a long time now, didnt know it was a thing with other people though lmao
I bought jojoba oil like three day ago. I've been putting it in my nails like three times a day and wtf it worked so quickly. Its not like they grew kilometres but it really make em healthier. The part where the nails grow is super beautiful and smooth and i dont have so much thin spots in the tips like before. Thanks :)

Cristine said in the video that it's ideal to apply it not only daily, but several times throughout the day. There isn't really any cons to overusing it.
Y’all, the thing that will help your nails to grow is to get them done! Get acrylics or dipping powder and wear them for about three weeks. After you carefully take them off with acetone and aluminum foil, you can paint hardener on them and then actual nail polish. I just did this and my nails have grown the length I’ve been trying to get for years. After you paint them and everything, you’ll still have to be careful just like Christine said in this video but no matter what you do with acrylics on, your real nails WON’T BREAK. It’s so worth it and if you have weak nails like me, I would recommend doing this.
Thanks so much for this! I watched this last week and immediately bought some jojoba oil and applicator pens. It's been practically magic for my cuticles, which have been dry, cracked, and bleeding since winter hit. Now that I've been using jojoba on them, they're finally starting to heal and look less gross lol. Also, I have very thin, peely nails and have apparently been treating them all kinds of wrong, so I'm taking ALL THE ADVICE from this video and hopefully they'll be a lot more manageable once the damage grows out with a few months of proper care.

This was incredibly helpful tysm Cristine! my entire life I've been trying to grow my nails but the farthest I've gone is like a week or so without biting them, they grow pretty fast but like- I bite them all the time and then I just sit there and regret it but I keep doing it, for the longest time I couldn't find that bitter polish and I cant use amazon where I live, it's really complicated to ship it so like- its a struggle I'm still looking lmao. Every time I go out for groceries or something I have to check if they have anything at the store cuz here they usually have a lot of nail polish and crappy beauty stuff idk if it's like that in Canada or America too but yeah- anyways I love ur videos they're really helpful and also pretty funny
