    VIC govt used to put 2D cut out billboards of these things @ the side of thr Princes HWY. Either the Sun or Herald put out headlines the VL interceptor was capable of 280 kmph. Saw them in action as a child. Rode in the non turbo variants as a teen. Bloody good basis for a retro Mad Max film.

      *This BT1 might be capable of 28Okmh.... but I certainly wouldn't want to be in any VL doing that speed. Even if it's got lowered springs or coilovers the VLs start to feel sketchy at 2OOkmh. The fastest I've ever been in a VL was 22Okmh and I was pretty worried as we all know the standard VL Turbo brakes are average at best.*

    Cop's used to say they were the FASTEST interceptor they ever had and mechanics would say the Nissan powered VL was the easiest to work on and most reliable....Cop's hated going to the later model VN and SLOWER V8. The BT1's were also geared Lower to get to Speed quicker...but ran out of leg's faster

      Until they introduced fg xr6 turbo they have been the fastest cop car that’s been used so far

      @bacon433 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If they were geared lower the wouldn’t speed quicker they would speed up slower but had a high top end speed

      @justaname1862....All BT1s had the same gearing in every model the same as a normal civilian car. Don't know where you heard those lies.
      VL Turbo = 3.45 diff ratio 6 cyl
      VL Turbo BT1 =3.45 diff ratio 6 cyl
      VN - VS BT1 = 3.O8 diff ratio V6&V8
      They were all the same ratio Auto or Manual.
      Please leave a link to where you heard about ratios cause I'm calling Bullshit.

    Ashtrays in the front doors? Never seen that before. Usually rears only isn’t it? Must have the ‘stake out’ pack option.

    Had me a VL Turbo back in the day. Not the BT1 but we timed it at 140mph. Suspension was crap even at highway speed sometimes I was doing less than speed limit!! Had a set of Pedders sports gas shocks put on was then the ducks guts. 5sp was smooth as silk with easy heel n toe 5th to 3rd.

    Yep he did say SEX. he just pushed up the already stupid VL prices :) and by dropping Rajabs racing, we should expect to spend around double for all work done by Rajabs :) I dont think Jonny knows any VL owners, why else would he say "too much power" his being redic, but it wasnt the chasis that was the problem, it was the brakes, once they heat up, they simply didnt exist. Holden and Nissan owners he means.

    • @victorpeirce4753
      @victorpeirce4753 ปีที่แล้ว

      *John Bowe isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Commodores don't have a "Chassis" they are a subframe and yes the factory brakes are average at best.*
