I love my v6. Of course I’m not towing 5K lbs. but it’s nice for light hauling and the gearing with manual transmission is perfect for my use. 237K on the ticker and running strong.
You do know that in the 10th gens the v6 isn't far off the 4.6 and was actually fast from the factory in the base model forms because the v6 came with 3.55 gears and the 4.6 came with 3.08 gears I wouldn't buy another v6 truck like mine though mostly for the sound but for the old man that just wants a work truck with decent milage the 4.2 is better than the 4.6

I have a teacher who has a 97 with the 4.2 manual, and he says it’s been good, but I would never buy a v6. I bought a 2004 f150 with the 4.6 and it runs like a top. It’s my first vehicle and I’m 15, but best purchase I’ve made to date 😂

I am surprised by the 4.2 V6. It has a nice deep tone with the 40 series. As long as they don't go with a louder muffler then it's good. The 4.6 and 5.4 sound similar but they have different mufflers in this comparison so I am going with the 4.6L truck with the 40 series. It has the best tone. The 5.4L with the Super 44 is louder but too high pitch. Note: The troll Barack Putin made an imitation channel. Don't pay it no mind. He wants attention.
How is the clutch on these? Is it light and easy to modulate or is it numb and catch at the top of travel? How's the shifter feel and is gearing spaced out well or does it fall out of its power range on shifts? I'm trying to buy one
@@shinobusensui9395 my clutch is easy to use there is no loss of power when I upshift my shift pattern is very nice shifting the gears are all 5 easy to go into gear I like the transmission an shifter just fine if you find one and swap it out your going to really like how it works
@@howardjacobs1325 is it possible to do a clutch replacement on these without jacking the truck up? Not sure how high it is from the factory, same with oil change
@@shinobusensui9395 you can do the oil change and clutch easier if the truck is raised the oil change you can run the front tires up on ramps to change the oil the clutch you are going to have to raise the truck off the ground I suggest Raising all 4 wheels placing jack stand under each side to do it safely never go under Andy vehicle with it just on a jack use stands

so i’m thinking of getting a 2005 f150 stx 4x4 with the 4.6 v8 and i was just wondering how good of a truck it was, and if it performs well in light off roading like some mud or light snow, nothing major. i was also worried if it was underpowered or not, thanks for the input :)
Ive got a 2007 fx4 crewcab with the 5.4l got a leveling kit for it pretty good off road and it still rides great on road 250k on it still going strong overall love the truck
@joey rerone alright I've got some experience with this we have a 05 king ranch f150 and it's not a bad truck and has never gotten stuck in a place it couldn't get out of but with 35s on a leveling kit its not enough power for the weight a tool box and full tank of gas across the scales was a little over 7k lbs we did 4.88 gears a set of cams and a tune and its better but not knock you down it will pull a house down but not quickly its barely faster than a stock truck with 4.10s and it's at the limit of what the factory Trans can hold I would drop back to a 10th gen with a off road or fx4 pack or jump ahead to a 2010 or up 5.0 truck but it's a good truck but it's not gonna surprise you with performance on the road and it's kinda big and heavy for off roading just my opinion do with that as you will just trying to help out👍

The V6 was the only way to get a manual transmission on these trucks....so not a waste.

I have the 5.4 v8 expedition with a flowmaster 40 and I’d say that’s the best one. I have super 44’s on my 01 cobra
