I'm not from Pittsburgh, but I remember always being excited when a Penguins game would air on ESPN because I'd get to see Mario and Jagr. It was an event.
Krásné, silné a hokejové. Nečekal jsem, že to bude takhle velký a důstojný ceremoniál. Bylo dojemné vidět všechny ty legendy. A nádherná Jaromírova řeč. Vtipné i dojemné. Díky! Všechny vzpomínky ožily.
I was there. Everything surrounding the celebration was perfect and first class by the Penguins. Glad he's a Penguin now and forever. It's where he belongs. 68.
@TheHutchIsOn Seems pretty straightforward to me. Dude is just saying he felt Jagr's true personality pour out. And you could feel the love. Most players don't get that personal during speeches. It was a historic moment and his speech made it so much better.
oh my god i cried like a little boy...haven't heard such a great speech in a long time...respect to the family, teammates and the entire penguins organization. JJ was and always will be a showman. I'm glad people still enjoy it.
The awesome thing is, he only had a couple of points written down on that paper. Most of the speech was improvised, because he apparently knew it wouldn't sound right otherwise (it has been said on Czech interview for local CNN). And I agree, it was a great speech.
I remember playing street hockey with a net up, on my roller blades and yelling every time I shot into an empty net "Lemieux to Jagr, he scores!!!" or "Straka down the boards, to Jagr, he scores". Those were the best moments of my childhood. Thank You
I loved seeing it too but I can't help but think of someone that was not there, and will probably never be there and thats Tom Barrasso. I fully understand that his relationship with the team is non existent, and was ruined almost 30 years ago, but its a shame. Had they had a decent relationship, he would be up in the rafters too.
My favorite part is when he thanked his parents and said that everything his dad told him, he was right on. Well deserved. I definitely remember Jaromir Jagr growing up.
Cant describe how I feel at the moment, my idol since I was a kid. Now he has his own spot in penguins arena. Guy from small country like Czech republic is. Huge moment!
So glad to hear them remember Coach Badger Bob Johnson, I'm sure his spirit was standing on that platform with all of them...Jags burst into tears when he heard that he was terminally ill, he was like a father figure to a young Jaromir back then. MARIO JR!!!
Leaf's fan here, I used to grow up begging my dad to watch more then 1 period of hockey after Don Cherry(HNIC) the only team I didn't do this was the penguins because either Mario or Jagr would be working on a hat trick, love your city.
I’m a Kings fan and my favorite non-King of all time is Jagr. Heck, he might even be my favorite, including Kings players. What a great celebration. Congrats.
Happy for Barnaby that Jagr spoke so well of him. That must have felt nice for Matt, to get the #2 in all-time points mentioning you. Barnaby was a player you wanted to play *with* rather than against.
I’ll always have a soft spot for Barnaby because he was a good friend to Jags. All the clutching, grabbing and cheap shots Jaromir endured - and Barnaby stuck up for him
I'm so happy for Jaromir. He was so special to watch. I'm fortunate enough that I was in my 20s at the time Mario and Jagr were dominant in the game of hockey.
As a Kings fan. I enjoyed watching Jagr play. To be honest, I wouldn't mind if the ceremony was longer. Such a great player and a great person in general. To the pens, thanks for sharing the ceremony and you guys did great by paying homage to this living legend.
"Mario Jr" has played professional hockey for 37 years and over 2000 games, from the time he was 15 until now. That is an all time record for any hockey player. 😊❤
🥹 smiled the whole time, one of my favorite players… my best friend and I grew up pretend to be 66 and 68.. my best friend looked a lot like Jagr … so happy we grew up watching them playing! We feel so lucky
Watched this live and watched it again on you tube. Just an amazing player and man will i miss watching him play. Lemieux was magnificent, Jags was the great 68. Wonderful ceremony and wonderful experience. Happy Retirement Jags. You deserve it.
Absolutely love this hockey icon. His skills, his strength, his pace, his creativity, was incredible. And his charisma? What a talent! Congrats JJ68! I'm so happy that the Pens story has a happy ending. The club and its legend fully deserve it.
Tears in my eyes...I'm fortunate enough to see him play live at the Igloo instead of on video....I went to alot of games in the Burgh back then.....congrats Jaromir....and thank you for the memories...
He was my favorite player when i was younger. Lucky enough to see him and Mario play in person a few times. i was in the stands when he scored that amazing goal against the Flyers. Such a humble guy, gotta love Jags!!
Imagine how proud Jags mom is sitting there with him. wow! good for her. definitely a massive part of raising a lively spirited dude like jaromir jagr.
As a long time Capitals fan and an older brother a Rangers fan, there is one thing we ALL can agree on, this man is a living legend. Wish him nothing but a long happy healthy career and life. Can't believe he's still playing. Absolutely amazing
one of my fave hockey heroes....and he's still playing at 52 years young....only a year older than me...Legend. Congratulations Jags well deserved! #68 with #21 and #66 proudly hanging in the rafters!
This was absolutely epic, you could see though Jagr was doing all he could to not cry, not comfortable with holding speeches even if it was great, I reckon he just wanted to make sure to get his speech in without breaking down, its ok to shed a tear Jaromir 🙂
As an Islanders fan being able to see him and Mario play was an absolute treat. I remember how dominant Jagr was and how hard he was to knock off the puck. Well deserved and it's about time to have your jersey retired.
Hvala ti na svakom golu, svakoj asistenciji, svakoj individualnoj nagradi, a najvise Hvala na vremenu provedenom u Pittsburghu i naravno na dva trofeja Stenlija. Tvoj navijac iz Srbije i najveci navijac Pingvina! Ziveo Jagr🙏🇷🇸❤️👏
Jagr forever the best❤i was a kid in Czech republick watching him play and shine in Pittsburgh with Mario. Oh boy im crying like a kid right now. Thank u Jags and Penguins for making him immortal❤
This man is insane. When be entered the NHL, he was playing in the same league as Larry Robinson, born in 1951. Now, in Czechia, he’s playing in the same league as Adam Benak, a prospect born in 2007.
What a pleasure it's been as a Penguins fan. I remember my parents taking me to games to see Mario and Jaromir in grade school and moving on as an adult to see the roster they created during the 2000s cup years. What a team. What an organization.
Die hard Sabres fan but man was Jagr special. The skill set, the personality. Any team was in for a long night playing against Jagr. So happy for him! Well deserved!! 52 and still playing is simply incredible!
Oho ooo wow what a big turn for Number 68, yes I watched him play hockey 🏒 in Pittsburgh, greatest player, what a great banner put up Jagr’s Jersey Retirement! Thank you so much for sharing this video! From Dalhousie NB Canada 🇨🇦, 👏👏👏🐧🐧💛🖤💛🖤👍👍
Bruins fan here...I know we dont like eachother very much...and we sometimes fight...but The LEGEND that is this man transcends our own rivalry and perhaps even the game. So happy he is getting this 💎💎
If Pens would contract Jagr for one more season fans would go wild, dude looks like he still can serve pucks like donuts. What a legend. That speach he gave was pure gold.
Thank you, Jaromir, for helping to fill my life with so much excitement, thrill, joy and happiness over the years watching this incredible and legendary team.
66+68 put the fear of God in goalies. How many players can u say got u out of your seat when they had the puck and did something you have never seen before or since?
66, 68, 87, 71 = Greatest Penguins It's been an absolute privilege to watch these four pillars of Penguins history. All four of them deserve recognition. Not to mention all of the other legends to wear the black and gold.
@@robertoborjas2091 71 vs 68: almost the same PPG (1,14 vs 1,1), but Jagr played 1700 (!) games and Malkin (only) 1150. That makes the difference. it's much easier to do more PPG in fewer games. Anyway I agree with 87, he's killer.
@@Rekking Crosby isn't half the player Jagr was. The best since Lemieux. Maybe McDavid will get there if he keeps going for another decade but that is to be seen
What a beautiful ceremony. Nobody protected the puck like Jagr. What a stud! Nothing but respect, wishing you all the best. Ps. Can we get a baby Jagr pls?
I have my own Jaromir now, aged 11. The choice of my son's name was definitely influced by one if the best hockey players of all times -mr Jaromir Jagr❤
Congrats Jags Nice to see you appreciate everyone and to show so much love to your mom n dad. You’re a legend. Funny too. Long it will live in Pitt….68. From a leafs fan

I don’t care who your team is, if you don’t love Jags then you don’t love hockey. What a legend. Nobody played/plays the way he did.
Agreed.
And he is still playing pro league!!???
Everyone loves Jagr nobody has any issue with him as a person or player

66-68 by far the best duo of all time, for my money.

He had a really nice speech.
It was from the heart and it was also funny, kinda rare nowadays.

Montrealer here and it was a privilege to watch 68; such beautiful hockey too. A true legend! Congrats Jaromir!

The Pens org. seems to have a real special culture. Love how they honored Andre- Fleury recently for his 1000th game tribute.
